Here you are again
Even further away

Notice how I gained control
Over your mind, your body and your soul

Focus is lost as eyes are wandering
You seem entertained yet lost
How come you are here
Not there or anywhere

One glimpse was enough,I know
The small red dot stole the show

Turn it all off, remove all the noise
Turn off your eyes and use your voice

Because now is today
And tomorrow is forever

That's why every distraction
Requires a pointless interaction

Are my feet too big for my body?
Because I feel that the gravitational force on it
Centers me too hard to the ground
And it’s hard to lift either one to progress

Are my hands unilateral of each other?
Because it feels like every time that I reach for yours
The other one reaches for an object to grab hold of behind me
Just to keep me anchored

Are my eyes too wide for my blocky head?
Because I feel like whenever I have a goal and a focus
My limbs swing wildly at everything else
Grasping for distraction on anything of interest
The title is a double meaning ker-chow

The air was thick and hard to breath
water was flooding through the cracks in the walls
Staring through the window while she pressed down on me
I wasn't where I wanted to be

I felt her fingertips against my skin
like they were foreign invaders
trying to force their way in

The weight of her uncertainty crushing through me
I watched the tremor behind her eyes
as she dropped her body onto my lap
Our lips fumbled in the darkness
and I felt like my interest was being devoured
not by her, but by the mistake I made in coming here

Her hair doesn't fall across my face the way yours does
Her skin doesn't smell sweet and salty like the shore
Her hand on my back that is trying to draw me in
only pushes me away, your hand used to push through
and massage the ***** protected by my ribs

Your face in front of me always felt like coming home
the others are vacations I never wanted to take

Another night staring skyward where
Every creaking shift fills the world
And the ink-black sky's toothless maw,
Shocks and aftershocks of sound
          Where a moment's discomfort swells
                    To a frenzied crescendo, incessant,
Pressing against skin from within
Until a saint's patience would break
Like lips parting for a stifled sigh.
Midnight falters and fades to dawn,
          Surrenders to the unconquered sun
Who, grinning wide as the horizon,
Watches the twisting, turning world
Tear away from night's dreamless womb
Sleepless, stumbling away in a daze.

I am ashamed
that I was so eager to love you
That I was so eager for your love
I barely knew you
You were a distraction
Just a distraction
I'm sorry
But I'm in love with someone else
who will never love me back again
But I'm very content with where I am
And you may never understand that
And that's okay
You don't need to understand
You're not me
I'm sorry
You were just a distraction

Life, the big distraction
How it weaves around all that lies deep within
It's all but one fraction
and this fraction in itself to life feels like a sin

The emptiness.
We all know of it
To our yearning, its empress
Nothing ever seems to fit
Right where emptiness sits
in its grand old throne room

A loneliness.
Both residing in these enormous halls
with nothing there to impress
Even they can't keep each other company
for they're one and the same
only wearing anothers name

I listen to my favorite song
Let me read this book that's been sitting on my shelf for so long
Maybe I'll go and buy these flowers I saw the other day
Wouldn't they look just lovely in my living room, I say
how sweet, how good, all is well
in this calming simplicity I dwell
til the sin seeps through:

only a distraction;
nothing will ever fill nor forever keep what it hides
the room where empress emptiness resides
