WE ARE TRANSFORMING
MATERIALS BORN OF LIFE
INTO THINGS THAT CANNOT
SUSTAIN LIFE, CREATE LIFE
WE ARE TRANSFORMING
THE EARTH, INTO DEATH.

IT IS OBVIOUS,
AT THIS POINT
THAT MAN,
-HATES LIFE.

"At least to all the other things living
whom have thought, -like mammals."

Imagine that an alien race has come to Earth....
What would you, "fix," about it?

FIX?
..ate,

eh'
A simple fact is,
if I so choose,

I do not have to believe anything.

Unless I wish too,
so climate change,
as far as I am concerned,
     -climate is caused by God.
Mark Lecuona Nov 2016
the earth moves
where once the stillness of nature and God walked
the edges
of a trembling tree fell from his grasp
while the perfect antlers that he once stalked turned to him,
asking if he felt it too;
but what could be this force
that also brought the tide closer to where we once laid,
with the sun upon our skin
while we cried silently on the inside
as our hearts became like hands on a clock
measuring how long we could possibly love one another;
and it rained and rained, cold snow
and the heat, yes the heat
so much that the fires that once burned fearlessly
turned away;
yet all of these things were only the spoiled dreams
of a quiet day walking with you in the park;
for what could be worse than our angry friends
turning on one another,
unable to ignore the messages
cascading down upon us,
like endless icicles
seeking to dip into the blood of our fears,
making it flow,
empting the hearts that once believed in one another
until we gasp for their solution,
to cure the disease they created within us

Right,
so we'll just keep burning
coal
the trees
till there is nothing
left -
of earth
to be burnt
on the back-burner.

Once I was alive and full of mystery
But now I am dying and full of misery
Soon all that will be left is dirt and dust
My molten sphere will begin to rust

Fossil fuels, logging, factories and pollution
I am dying but yet you have found no solution
Yet you continue to consume without any thought
Pretty soon resources, there will be naught

Time isn’t on my side nor is the human population
Only your obliviousness and ignorance has put me in this situation
The weather cycles are getting stranger and stranger by the day
Heat is building up on the ice caps dirt and clay

The sea level is continuously rising
And animal species are slowly dying
Soon I’ll be nothing but disastrous ruins
You must stop what you have been doing

Cries of agony are an endless groan
I am slowly dying and all alone
Sadly my unrenewable products are beginning to run out
You destroy everything that gets in your way without a single doubt

You say you are humans but yet you show no humanity
You have brought me to my insanity
Animals and plants are only just surviving
But yet you humans are still thriving

You know what you are doing
My broken world will be your undoing
Perhaps you will never learn that my awful slow demise
Was because you never even tried to compromised

If in the end you try to save me from my tragic fate
It will it be too little too late

A Poem on climate change
BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD
Denel Kessler Apr 2016
Lone leatherback cruises up from the deep, pausing on the fragile reef

to feast ancient eyes upon the show, a bright parade laid out below

butterfly couples paired for life, graceful angels in black and white stripe

brilliant clowns and their toxic lovers, a plodding gang of giant groupers

puffers bob like comic balloons, humble gobies on every menu

beaked parrotfish grinding the coral down, in the ears a constant sound

cowfish blowing puckered kisses, sea stars catching fishy wishes

white-tipped, hammerhead, tiger sharks, triggerfish mean bite worse than their bark

untamed unicorns too wild to ride, dogfish snapping, biting alongside

coral trout color-shifting fools, attracting ladies in dull-hued schools

**** headed wrasse rumbling through, thick lips mumbling go get a room

sea horses nod in labyrinth caves, razor-toothed eels lying in wait

if tentacled embrace should be your fate, nudibranchs will light the way

to a place of bliss, none of this can exist, without the builders

coral and algae bewildered, the ways of man egotistical

rising ocean temperatures, carbon emissions, and el Niño

victim of abundant greed, say goodbye to the Great Barrier Reef

so massive is this magical place, one can see it from outer space

astronauts witness its demise, ninety-percent barren, bleached bone white.

Write a poem using haiku-like, seventeen syllable long lines.
Nida Mahmoed Apr 2016
I dream there will come a day,
When earth won’t fear from’
Death-dealing,
Because we grasp the sense’
To love our earth.

Ice melting

Factories making
Workers working
Ice melting

Stars living
Poor dying
Ice melting

Science arguing
God watching
Ice melting

Students learning
Teachers talking
Ice melting

World arguing
States fighting
Ice melting

One teen
Wishing
To help
But not knowing how
In this world of exhaustion
So
Ice keeps melting
Just think about it

May the stars think of
Me when I'm rotting inside
Coffin of last tree.

Have you ever heard the term

"The grass is always greener on the other side"

I'm going to assume you have
But I think the better question to ponder is
What happens when there's no more grass?

What are we doing to our earth
There is trash heaps the size of this city
And our society should feel guilty
When the only one that bats an eye
Is an incoherent ****** hippie

You know anybody can make a difference
This disparity must be stopped
So let's take a stand

Because my generation, our generation
Will face the greatest threat that has ever faced this nation
And that is climate change

AND if you ask me it is very strange
That so many people remain caged
In a cell of disregard
Acting like our earth isn't scared

Around the world we're facing
Irreversible drought
A rising sea level
A midst the sixth mass extinction

So why is our society
Not showing the distinction
That this is a pivotal issue

As teenagers we're
Watching environments be
Wrecked by our forefathers
While your sons and daughters
Will face the systemic problems
We forsake.

So the burden is on me,
Its on you, on all of our shoulders
To fight with a rage
To end climate change.
This was a slam poem/speech I presented to one of my high school classes concerning the issue of climate change.
