There’s a girl
I wonder what she thinks about
I think she thinks about me sometimes
How incredible to think
That I could occupy some small corner
Of a vast consciousness so different from my own
How elusive and carefree she is
I’m somewhere in there
Tucked away

Some say, we don't need black history month.
When in truth we do.
Would the contribution of African American be taught truthfully.
If we had to depend on you know who?

Obviously, they very unaware of several successful black that contributed to America's greatness.
We, very well aware they edited down facts to be turn into fiction.
Like that president that chopped down that cherry tree.

Many doesn't know the plight of Washington, Dubois, Carver.
Let alone know their first name.
It's hardly taught, if it's about us.

George Franklin, Grant-dentist
Ernest Everett, Just.-Scientist
Josh Gibson, one of the greatest baseball player.

We know very well about George, Thomas and James and John Q.

Some say, we all Americans
And in truth, they completely right.
But for reasons very well known.
We are not all equal in sights of others.

When needed, they call upon us to join in.

Some still, say-why do Black history month exist?
But all cultures knows none was eliminated through times.
Than those captured to come here and renamed after their masters.

And facts be told, this cultures lives to embrace into their children's if nothing is ever mention by certain teachers about their cultures.
Than they will keep it before them.

Matthew Alexander, Henson-Explorer
Billie Holiday-singer
Duke Ellington and Count Basie and Cab Calloway.

Greatness, we can't let fade.

Vernon Jordan
Shirley Chilsom
And hosts of present days teachers that push the issues to educate.

Those that say, we don't need Black History months.
Be crying , if we try to eliminate theirs.
Cause that's all they ever known.

Howard University.
Tennessee State and Fisk and various others came to be because of discrimination.
And has turned out some brilliant African Americans.

So our history is needed.
Cause it's about us.
Like Latin History and various others is about other cultures.
The most depressed
I've ever been,
I can't even seem to begin.
On how I never wanna smile
or grin.
**** this emotion!
I'd rather live in sin.
I'd rather take a life,
than feel all of this strife.
I want you for my own,
but you don't seem to care.
I want you
and you alone,
and the only burden you'll bare.
Is finding a way
to love me,
the way that I love you.
I wish you would wanna try,
instead of putting me through.
Nights alone
where I cry,
and you get someone new.
If I wanted
to have different souls
inside of my bed.
I would try
and fail,
to find this love,
in them instead.
For the love I have for you,
I've never felt before.
I really would have no one else,
my elf's who I adore.

3:11 am / The 23rd of May

I don’t remember the exact moment I realized I had fallen in love with you.

But I just remember holding your hand under the stars and realizing how much it was going to hurt when I would have to let it go.
You smile at me
Across the way
I can see your eyes
Twinkling
And I feel a vague
“something” deep inside.

Ignore it. Keep it out.
Don’t let it get a hold of you.
Don’t let HIM get a hold of you.

You introduce yourself
Tell me your name
Little tidbits of information
That I take up and put away
A magpie hoarding shiny bits of you.
That “something” is taking shape.

Stop it.
You already know how it’s going to end.
You’ve been through this before.

Days go by.
Your eyes, your voice
Pass through my head
More than I care to admit.
For once, excitement gleams in the air,
Because I might see you again.

It’s not too late.
You know what’s right.
You know what’s best for you.

Maybe I do but
It all falls away
Once I see your face.
I can’t help it
Your smile, your voice
Has overtaken my mind
I can only try to hide
The jolt in my chest
The smile in my heart
That happens whenever you walk in.

*Too late.
This poem was featured in my school's literary magazine last year.

Who are you
but a spark in my bone matter
a bright ball of
green energy bouncing around
the ocean blue of my heart
residing in some sort of residual
cave of dreams that I conjured up
many nights in a row
many long
barren months ago
under the influence of sleep
your tall shadow frame
blocking the view
and my hearth of alacrity
bounding out so true
for what it’s worth, new friend,
you really have me moved.

if I had to choose my last breath
i’d choose it with you
and only fantasies create
a sort of granule gargantuan glee
if i had to choose between
letting go of fear
and touching you
i’d choose you every time
if i had to rebuttal the claims
of my own body insecurities
i’d let go of them
for you
if i had to challenge myself
beyond a thousand measures
go past fear itself
i’d do it for you
and maybe it will take forever
but i’m willing to make the case
of loving you so gently
i’m at ease with the whole world around me
and i just keep thinking of
oranges hanging loosely in a plastic net
just dangling about to
plop down on the shiny wood
floor clean of dirt or
rest them lightly on the white
porcelain kitchen counter
without a care in the world
because that’s how you make me feel
unbound and synchronized like
the clunk of a VHS tape
fitting nicely into place
re-wound and ready
for the movie to start

and if i had a wide choice of manly lovers
i’d choose you every time

you’re not what i expected
for a woman in her prime

If I knock inside your heart, will you let me in?
If I fall to the ground, will you catch me?
If I let your ears listen to my heartbeat, will you care?
If I swear to love you forever, will you believe me?
If I kneel down in front of you, will you marry me?

Let me in.
Let me fall for you.
Let me take care of you.
Let me love you forever.
Let me be your husband...it's now or never.

I love you.
I try so hard to catch your eyes,
Those ones that remind me of the sky on a hot summers day.
I melt like a popsicle on the pavement when they look at me.
And your skin,
Such a light complexion that it reminds me of the comfort of a snow day.
You are mix of seasons.
But you see the warmth is only in your eyes,
And the words you speak.
When you smile ear to ear,
I can feel my heart trying to jump out of my chest,
For it wants to beat with yours.
But all your words are flecked with ice from your heart.
So as I get closer to you,
I am slowly freezing myself inside out.
And yet I cannot grasp why I don't compare.
Why am I not ever good enough?
Why don't you love me..?
