The Universe sang
A song close to my heart.
And in it I lost myself
Choosing Dreams over Whispers
And Life over Death.

The Stars called out
And in their blaze
I sought to find my Light.
As I poured out my everything
I realized that You were all that I had.

The Night almost at its end
I draw your figure in the Sand.
The dark skies barely frighten me
Not more than the distance
You keep between our Hearts.

The Universe sang to me
A Song I thought I never knew.
It led me home to the prairies
Where the northern wind
Blew strong, a magic of the Stardust.

I knew the Shadows
Would one day return,
A Haunting, my dreams never fond of.
But if the Storm got too rough
I'd sing the Song the Universe sang.

And in it I'll lose myself,
Once again.
Because in it, I came to know
The only Reason that keeps me alive.
*Because in it, I found You.

let me just say,
i am sorry.
for all the nights
i got too drunk to move
so i would not have to feel.
for the days
i swallowed away pills
to numb myself
into acceptance.
for the summers i spent
planning how to
**** myself.
for the winters
when i'd hide away.

I may not have laser vision,
But everything I see soon dies.
I may not have inhuman strength,
But I can still break hearts.
I may not have the ability to fly,
But I can soar away from my problems.
I may not be invincible,
But I can ignore everything in my fortress of solitude.

But I do have a weakness.
And that weakness is you.
Found a crumpled note on the floor.
Put the contents here for all to see.

Do you remember
The flagship's contender?
The rolling cold waves by the dock
And she herself was the sender
So did you attend her
Last day of rest by the rock?

She'd written you notes
passed by sailors on boats
But you would just sit there and cry
As she sat feeding the goats
With barley and oats
While you watched from your tower in the sky

And she didn't forget
The first time you'd met
By the lake house with dusk's tender fall
And her kiss was a threat
That put you in debt
When you told her that she was your all

Her undying love letter
Didn't make you feel better
As you knew you were claimed by the sea
How could you let her
Become your love debtor
When you knew that it never could be

When you returned
Your stomach it turned
As you stared at her home by the lake
And her father confirmed
Of what you already had learned
That her death was your cold mistake

On her funeral day
You had nothing to say
Clutching the letters she wrote in your fist
And you couldn't stay
you'd lead her astray
But loved her from the moment you kissed

The way your pencil moves along the rough surface lightly at first as if it's floating just above it. The lines barely visible like footprints where fresh snow has fallen. The lines darken and take shape, your hand working more diligently now. The pencil racing across the vast landscape that is your paper, everyone who sees the result is amazed. But to you.....they're just lines on paper

outward expression of
feelings
I can no longer contain,
but you mean more
to me
than language could
ever explain."
