Let me steal the moonlight from your hair
and bottle it

Let me get caught in the crossfire of your thoughts
and stay there

Let me intrude upon your late night musings
and become one

Let me borrow a few strings that make up your heart
and fortify them

Oh, the things I'd lay down, sacrifice, put away for you
If only you
let me

This life is yours.
Cradle it in your palm.
Build your own doors.

Your appearance is yours.
Your personality is yours.
Your mind - yours.

Reach for the stars.
I know it can be hard.
But never stop reaching far.

The moon's glow holds nothing special tonight,
As someone so brilliant glimmers before my eyes.
It is captivating the way green eyes sparkle in moonlight,
The way rosy lips lightly release quiet sighs.

I am transported to other places, when there I gaze,
And you remain at my side wherever I roam.
You peel away the pain that has lingered like a haze,
Deciding that you will never leave me alone.

And on quiet nights, when there are no sounds in the air,
My mind wanders to the holder of my love.
Ponders green eyes that mesmerize as they stare,
Invalidating the glowing moon above.

I close my eyes on those quiet nights, and you appear,
Existing beside me to calm my shaking form.
Your embrace vanquishing my fear,
Calming this tumultuous storm.
I love you, Michael.

I don't think I'll write
A suicide note.

What an obvious
Statement, when
I'm plainly not
Contemplating suicide.

But I never liked the idea
Of suicide notes.

And it was not
The idea that
Somebody had
Killed themselves.

It was the idea that
Somebody could have such a sad
Life that they could fit
All they had to say into one letter.

Perhaps many of us don't realize
  That life
Harbors secrets and lessons around every corner
  But also harbors many disappointments
Each lie spewed like venom is poison to the tongue
But each accomplishment is sweet upon the lips
Many moments are wasted and taken for granted
But that's not true for some
Eventually the human race will understand
  That life is just about
Fairy tales and make believe or misery and agony
It's a bittersweet mixture of both
With dashes of hope and pinches of despair
  It's a perfect recipe
For honesty and for dares
I wrote this poem with my 11 year old brother. He wrote the italic lines (with a bit of help from me for flair). This is his first shot at poetry

It amazes me
That we are made
The same way
With our eyes
Our mouths
And our hearts,
Yet we are so unique
In the way we see,
How we speak
And how we
Love.

They said pain is temporary
But I can feel my bones
disintegrating at a rapid pace
the more I think about your goodbyes
you keep sending me.

I can feel my blood
entering the veins to my brain
like a bullet train
the moment you wanted me
out of your life.

I can feel my breathe
reaching an unsteady,
erratic tempo as my pulse flutters
in my heart
the moment you said
you love someone else.

It has been 6 months exactly
since the the day you turned around
and never looked back.

But the pain is still here.
It's still destroying the **** out of me.
It's as if I would run out of breath
and collapse any moment.

Tell me.

How do you **** a feeling?

Shots fired
Another black kid lays dead upon the ground
Tragic, so tragic indeed
Move along nothing to see here
It is just another black boy soaking in his own blood
Nothing major
Wait what...!

Sigh

we really are nothing aren't we
A waste of air and space apparently
Oh lawdy now the black community is mad
Let's start riots and destroy our own stuff
Yeah that'll surely get the white man's attention

Sigh

**** we really are stupid aren't we
No wonder they are killing us off
What sense does that make
One of our own gets shot by the opposite race,
Which somehow causes us to gain this desire to open the gates of hell
The logic is too real
This what white man get for letting us out of our cages
Yeah that was said
Sometimes I believe we should just go back to our slave days
At least back then we were somewhat domesticated
Because now we're just acting like frightened animals
Oh, that boy was shot and killed by that white man
Let's burn everything to the ground
*****...
The black revolution has begun once again
Only this time it is just stupid
If you're going to do something that could possibly change the world
The least you can do is do it right
Stop the violence
Both black and white

Father,
please hold her heart,
before i ever get the chance
to hold her hand

please fix her broken pieces,
for i am insufficient at doing so
on my own

please shower her
in the rain of Your love,
for i cannot do the same

please let her be content
with You alone,
for You know i will never be enough

please dry her every tear,
before i get the chance
to do so myself

please show her Your perfection,
for i will never, ever
measure up

please catch her,
so that she knows
how to fall for me.
