bits and pieces,
lines and creases,
dusty shelves
of storied past;
where could-haves
turned should-haves,
make half-lives gone by.
haunt in our reticence,
expressed in our sigh;
they hide in our silence,
betrayed by our tears,
from missed opportunities
     down through the years.

this is no stroll
o’er memory’s lane,
but a ***-holed, hard-roll
on a boulevard unnamed,
     where deepest regrets
          must defend against shame.

~

i make my peace
by drawing a line,
before it can fade
shifting with time.
i say “enough!
this far and no more!”

i give it my heel
and walk out that door.
past the garden,
past the fences,
to the edge of my mind,
resolve saying, “goodbye”
to this pain i have known.

then for reasons unfathomed
i turn at the bend,
to see what i'll miss
as if that place were my friend,
yet that house where i lived
so long and knew well,
was standing no longer,
up in smoke, gone in flames,
     now just ashes and bricks
          are all that remained.

~

so homeless i felt,
with no place to return.
no basement to bury
the ghosts of my past;
no attic to wander,
no hallways to creep,
no corners to ponder,
no front porch to weep,
lost without home,
     now no pillow to sleep.

“please turn around,”
spoke, a voice on the breeze
“there's a new life ahead”
and then, to my relief,
“you're not homeless, my son;
you’ve a new windowed view!
square your shoulders
to the pathway,
see the journey anew!
in promising thoughts
so hopefully wrought
of brand new can-be’s
that only dreamers can see
these, are your new life
you're not abandoned, but free.
     let regrets turn to fuel
          build steam from this fire.”

~

as i turned back to thank
the voice offering these words
i found no sage of advice
but here’s what i heard.
"offer thanks to your own heart,
to strength buried within.
the matches lay dormant
’til your heart found its stremgth.
the mere act of leaving
was the spark for your fire;
for in striking your new path
          your past built your pyre.”

after much stirring, much wrestling, we are now with anticipations imagining what will change as we light the fire.  i’m excited about the possibilities as we let go.

I've been trying to figure out how to get it back,
But I haven't seen you in months.
Have you found it sitting there?
I wonder if you threw it out along with fast food bags and stray receipts,
Or if maybe you repurposed it and hung it over your rearview instead.

Hey love,

How have you been? It's been a long time you see,
This is my last letter so bear with me,
I hope you don't rage and get angry,
You know last few years have been in vain,
Full of hopeless dreams and pain,
I believe there is still time to change.

There is ecstasy to the point of melancholy,
That your plight was replaced with melody,
I recently came across this technology,
To erase you from my memory.

By destroying a few neurons,
They can erase anything I want,
But there's a risk if things go wrong,
Complete amnesia could be lifelong.

I'm going to forget everything you betrayed,
From assuring hugs to times we were afraid,
From words of love to curses of hate,
The way the light played with your face.

I had to hide all the photographs,
The ones we often saw and laughed,
Deep in my basement with broken glass,
From you, I though have one last request,
Would you come and smile and greet,
If you see me across the street?

And I know somehow I will know you,
As a reality I once loved endlessly,
I can't believe I have to, I have to, I have to,
Erase you from my memory.

It's his birthday
Can't help but
Tell him I love him

It's been a heavenly day
Coffee, kisses & cigarettes
Neck bites, flirtatious disses
Romantic, sappy poems
He makes me feel alive
In every possible way

His brown eyes
Gives me
Butterflies
His smile
Makes me
Weak inside

Those french kisses though
So hot, unbelievable
Makes me fall
Under his spell
Every single night
Our love is so right

A yarn of angels play, loose-braided
Blazing wings have dawn blockaded
Devil's duplex dance undoes their knots
Ropes their oath has plaited rot
Mannacles enslave perception
Realms of sight dulled to a dimension
The fallen world a ruin, grim
What are you doing seraphim?

We must throw off this darkening curse
Feel the irrepressible light of the universe
Yield to the cosmic flow of love
Make peace on earth, as above
Heal the agony of a world,
Then Chaos which has now unfurled
Will be compelled to give its' way
To reason's day and harmony

As the sun continues to rise, you continue to shine.

You'll find, that the devine of life is defined by this state of mind.

A brighter way of life.
It's nice. Any way it's sliced.

So roll the dice and find your inner light. Be light in weight, take flight.

As the sun rises, know that now is the time, to shine.

Why do you keep calling?
I don’t want your pity
I don’t want your help.
I’m just fine,
I can handle this by myself.

So what he left?
I don’t give a ****.
He can do whatever he wants,
Get over it.

Yeah, I’m upset,
But there’s more to me than him.
He isn’t in my life,
And I won’t sink, I’ll swim.

The flowers of the dawn
Unfurled its petals
In pinks and reds
A solitary Venus stands
unblinking in the black sky
And with the dawn vanished and was gone.

Packing the pack
in the name of that
which held no more pain
It was time to hit the road again

Doubts linger with the rising sun
But the choices
They are few

The oceans
The mountains
The deserts
They hold the views

Chasing the dawn
Chasing the beginnings
It is time to begin again.

The pack holds the few essentials
For the journey's road

Long and arduous
Peaceful and calm
All moments are held
And pass on by

Time to go is all that is known

Laughter and glee
Loves and loses

Time a ribbon
Unfurls in the sky
Dragging all along
Down
To that endless highway.

Just a visitor
renting space
along the way

A pause to watch
This very dawn
Then heading on down the way
again

The road
It begins in the dark
It ends there too.
