Shortcuts
And illegal turns
Sooner or later
We all get burned
The bleeding heart
Refuses to wait
Busts right through
Those pearly gates
And out pours pleasure
(Of course)
Beyond measure
But behold in the end
  Lives greatest treasures
  Is a good friend...
A shortcut poem
Pleasure
Measure
Treasure
And off I go
Where maybe
I'll take some time out
And write a proper poem.

I'll show you a place
Where no one ever grows old
Where life is ever stiller
And love is still a killer

A place where every dream is pure and bold
And the pavement it shines like gold untold
Down on Tupelo Road

I'll show you a home
Where togetherness reigns
Where laughter is ever after
And dreary is out to pasture

A home where every heart is whole and remains
And the hearth it glows like hope unchained
Down on Tupelo Road

We cannot take
a good, hard look
at ourselves
without help;
our own perception
a fun-house mirror,
twisting our foibles
into grotesques.
We become too big,
thinking we loom large
in the lives of others
who could not care less,
or we shrink into nothing,
disappearing from those
who miss us dearly.
Judge, jury and executioner,
we condemn ourselves
as not worthy of the air we breathe.
We cannot take
a good, hard look
at ourselves.
The look is rarely good,
and often far,
far too hard.

Grace strikes
lighting up
the entire universe

it follows
downward spirals
a sinking-reversal

for the path
of great import
an open cup
to Grace's pour
received from
sources known, familiar

I wished for you,
On a winters falling star
I wasn't waiting for it
It just shot
Clear across the sky
Then faded to nothingness
As all things do
It took a second for me to realise
What I'd just seen
I've seen so few
Never bothered to wish on any
I didn't wish for money or fame
I wished for you

My eyes squeezed shut
Then right out loud,
I wished for you
It was so cold that night
The star had come from the dark
Leaping out of the night sky
With your name on it

I kind of got my wish
You see, I didn't wish for your love
Only for you
And with YOU
Came tears, loneliness,
Pain

Next time I wish,
I wont wish on a falling star
Because they are dying
Leaping from eternity
My next wish
Will be on a living,
Twinkling star
Staying firmly in place,
Shining brightly

In light of recent self-awarness
I try my best to feel
less suffocated
by the instilled ideal
of forgiveness
and more accepting
of the primal, instinctive
need to express
what I cannot suppress

In light of recent self-awareness
I try my best to see
less of the drowning
nerve-racking
ticking
notion that is
The Moment
and more of the ambiently
serene concept of
The Present

In light of recent self-awareness
I try my best to be
less aware
and more myself.

As a child I received a special bag.
I started to pack it with useless things.
Over the years it became heavy and unbearable to carry,
Yet I could never leave it behind.
The vibrant colors had since faded,
the pink zipper no longer zipped ,
and a weird musty smell flowed from it;
Yet I lugged it around-
it created a groove into my shoulder from its heaviness-
causing me to cower as I walked.
One day, I grew too weary to continue carrying that bag around.
I dropped that bag filled with regret, worry, low self-esteem, and self hate behind,
Since then I have walked tall; feeling as free as I could be.

Water seeping through the cracks of the hull,
Creeping ever so insidiously.
Filling the voids, but my fate is sealed.
I sink.
Resentment floods my thoughts,
Quenching my thirst for vindication,
And I feel that time will cure all, yet…
I sink.
I’m clinging on to flotsam and jetsam
Drifting by, remnants of my pride.
But the waves keep battering, and
I sink.
Seventy times seven is too large of a
Number, or so I think.
How to rid of the anchor tethered to
My heel?
I sink.
Letting go of that anchor, a painful process.
You may have skinned me alive,
But I forgive you.
For if I don’t, I’ll sink to the depths
Of misery…. alone.

Loveless
Life
Is bad
It throws
Many worse situations
In whatever path we take

Sometimes
We feel
So weak, powerless
Fragile, exhausted, spent, hesitant
In front of those situations

But
The only
Intention of them
Is to make you
Stronger, wiser, mightier and better

It
Is your
Test of life
We all have to
Go through and top them

So
Stand up
No matter how
Or why you fall
Fight and become better you

And
One day
Life will lose
Seeing your brave heart
Bowing in front of you
Pyramidal poem
Just a try with first line constituting one word second two words and so on for five lines
