A smile
A laugh
A heart broken in half

A blade
A gun
A ******* the run

A shovel
A grave
A girl they couldn't save
I think i would rather a heart of ice than a heart of glass
Glass is translucent and fragile
When it breaks, it can so easily hurt anyone who comes upon it
Ice, though similar, is exceptionally different
It can be either clear or cloudy
Or it can hurt or sooth
I like it most because unlike glass, it can melt when given enough warmth
While yes, ice is cold, it's still only water hardened by its surroundings

It’s becoming clear
Old fashioned romance is dead
I want an LTR
But they want to hook-up instead.

I want long term dating
Not short-term flings,
I want tight and secure
Not something no-strings.

At my age I never considered
Meeting someone for a hook-up
This is a crazy situation
I just couldn’t cook up.

This casual dating I find
Is just making me frantic,
Somehow it doesn’t jive
With an old-school romantic.

For a writer
It’s like committing libel
To a true believer
Like speed-reading the Bible.

Now I sit here wondering
Should I accept the latest fashion,
And let them satisfy
Their hot-blooded passion?

A blank book, stares back at me,
An unwritten verse, of poetry,
My future novel, full of events,
Leather bound story, missing contents,

A clear mind, dogged by history,
Halting the flow, unfinished mystery,
Weeks of regress, a total non-starter,
A comedy of errors, missing the laughter,

Passion reduced, barely a simmer,
A future best seller, lacking it's winner.
Simple, sweet,
and so delectable.
The taste of your kiss
lingers on my lips.
Enticing and you have
me yearning for more.

**** visions play
in my head like
roll on a film.
Seduction surges
my body and
makes me stiff.

I climb on top
of you and
your body
intertwines with mine;
DNA stranded perfectly
together.

My arm wraps around
your back. As I pull
your body close to mine,
your gasp whispers in
my ear.
You want more.

So soft are your legs,
which my fingers
explore.
My hands are curious
creatures, and you are
too inviting for my
own good.

Another kiss. This one
is fire. Passion blazing
while flames and heat
transfer from your
mouth to mine.

Then we are one.
Two halves finally
Equalling a whole.
A light yelp
escapes your mouth
and transforms
into a soft moan.

We are soaring
above cloud nine;
higher than we could
even imagine.
You are me.
I am you.
This is we.
We are passion.
What I would give
To wake up next to you
Bodies tangled vines
Legs wrapping around backbone
Skin stained from the previous night's hunger
From eager lips
What I would give
To have you run fingers down my xylophone ribs
Every morning
Play me into routine
Sing each note that leaves my lips
Each breathless hello
Each half whispered stay
Each please don't go
What I would give
To know the exact shape of your palms
Have them folded into memory
Making home in the dimples of my back
In the curve of my spine
Not allowing for goodbye
Reading only welcome
What I would give
To run hands through your hair
Through the saltwater aftermath
Through sand dusted in from the wind
From a day spent in beach sun
What I would give
To bury myself in the vacant parts of you
And never leave
What I would give
To fall asleep next to your mumbling
Next to your 3am curiosity
With your breath against my ear
And toes weaved together like the silk from our bedsheets
What I would give
Is not enough to shrink the space between us
Is not enough to turn distance into nonexistence
But boy,
What I would give
To have you next to me

I would give everything from the arch of my soles
To my abundance of freckles
To be with you

In order to be with you
I would give
All of me.

Drink me up

Tell me what your heart really feels
I always spill my heart when I have some whiskey
