..New Style..

One man
Poetry to me had become boring
pretentious writer craved adoring
"Likes for this one" it overtook
a simple love of a poetry book

Poems to me had lost there flair
no love up here or under there
with every single word I'd gloat
in the dribble that I wrote

Yet now a new style I've found
playfully written wrote for sound
Simple to read and flows to say
so fun to write with words I play

And helps keep the ego at bay
loss of identity some would say
but to not be "known" I feel I can
relate to all as just One man

Anne Molony
he wasn't
exactly
what I expected
him to be

he kept his hair short and messy,
wore funny clothes and enjoyed
comic books, Daft Punk and
ginger-lemon-tea-brewing
of all things
and bless,
he thought his earrings
made him seem tough

In the end, it was
his confidence
that won me over
his smiley eyes
so seamlessly dissolved
my doubts and skepticism
and took with
them,
unexpectedly,
my heart

the kisses he'd plant on my forehead would
drag me into
his silly world where
wonderfully weird hats were worn seriously
and music played on our
candy-coloured 2000s cd player
while we read together
on the couch

he offered to massage
my feet and I blushed and thought
that I was falling for him and
he laughed and pulled me
close into his chest
while I wept with joy
for I'd found
happiness
I miss you

Maine Dela Cruz
crimson blood
flowing through the gutter
white cloth
folded in two
half-covered body
bruised eye
swollen lip
broken rib
missing tooth
pale skin
strands of hair
scattered on the floor
scent of flesh
lingers in thin air
silence.

droplets of water
falling from the patched roof
little creatures
squealing, screeching
over a piece of bread
ragged children
slumped on the corner
they call her mother
tired eyes
fixed on the walls
in deep thought
tears unuttered
silence.

red carpet
laid along the aisle
floral-filled rows
people dressed in pastel
empty the halls
one by one
man in suit and tie
golden ring held in hand
a letter on the other
words scrambled on sheets of paper
but all he could see is “Sorry.”
church doors shut
silence.

pen and paper
half-empty cup
ten pages of enigma
blank spaces and question marks
staring on the floor
in search of an answer
trying to recall
a missing chapter
clock strikes nine
time is up
silence.

Light

Light
A symbol of hope
Cutting through the darkness

But remember
All light cast shadows
Your pain
Is in vain
It corrupts your brain
Makes you insane
Makes it hard to restrain
Like resisting rain
Try to refrain
Time to Heal again
So much to gain
If you give up your pain
So you can try to remain
Sane
No mind drain
Keep life plain
So you can be yourself again
I try to remain
Sane
No mind drain
Keep life plain
Thank you to jobira
