Joy
She is easily found in the little things,
In dewdrops glistening in the first ray of light,
As sparrows sing their happy melodies,
In the chorus of the morning's gentle recite.

She lives within each day awakening,
In rainfall's soft, percussive song,
And in countless fleeting moments
That proved remarkable all along.

She lingers in winter's misty breath,
Rising softly through the morning chill,
And in autumn's amber warmth,
As leaves whirl and dance at the wind’s will.

You’ll find her in the sunset,
In a bittersweet encore that soars,
And in content hearts that quietly know
She will visit them once more.

I've learned to never cage her spirit,
Nor beg with her to remain,
But to welcome her like the sunrise
When joy chooses to brighten my day.

I was inspired to write this poem this morning as I stood outside in the chilly English air and I quietly listened to the bird song for a few moments. I exhaled, I smiled and found myself content with everything around me.
It is remarkable what little things can bring us joy.
I hope that this poem brings you a little bit of joy too. 🙂

My mind dissects each word you speak,
Like puzzle pieces, I must decrypt.
Each detail stowed and analysed,
Each contradiction memorised.
Your lies will always be uncovered,
As habits form, truth is discovered.
I'll turn your tales all day and night,
Until the pieces fit just right.
So spare yourself, I implore,
I will solve your messy jigsaw.

How strange it is that I leave you behind,
Yet you remain the reason for every dream I chase.
You are a ghost who walks beside me,
Still alive in my memories and hopes.
Your presence echoes in yesterday's stories,
And shimmers in tomorrow's unmapped stars.
You are the footprints to where my heart has led,
And the distant lights glowing from afar.
Your past flows into my future,
To shape me into who I will become.

The bonding forge of palm on palm
Breaks my shield, dissolves my calm;
Your hands trace earthquakes down my spine,
Awakening every nerve of mine.

You ignite my skin with a lightning flash,
Electric tremors pulse and pass,
Each fingertip becomes a molten brand
That sears desire across my land.

When lips meet, our worlds collapse
Passion fractures these synaptic maps;
Your embrace, a crushing tidal force,
Leaves my gravity without a course.

Magnetic fever pulls us close,
As currents crush and silence prose.
Each brush of skin sends shockwaves deep,
Where primal energy coils and leaps.

Heated fusion erodes the mantle,
Boundaries burn and souls entangle,
Your touch conquers my universe
Intent with the need to be immersed.

Enraged clouds of deepening grey
Advance with wind-whipped waters,
As tranquil skies begin to decay.

The fierce wind howls like a ravenous beast
Splintering trees like twigs with its might,
As nature's fury prepares to feast.

Devastation rolls in like a violent dance,
As lightning splits across the darkened sky.
Nothing in its path stands a chance.

Heavy rain slashes through the air,
The surge greedily devours,
Then vomits debris everywhere.

In its wake, the lull exposes the carnage,
And the savage toll we pay in defeat
When we cannot best the weather’s rage.

I can't sleep as the storm is too noisy, so I wrote this instead.

In silent woods where whispers freeze,
The breath of night kisses the breeze.
Trees stand like sentries cloaked in white,
Their branches bowing, in graceful plight.

The breath of winter, crisp and clear,
Wraps all in silence, drawing near.
A silver quilt covers sleeping ground,
As snowflakes drift and twirl around.

Beneath the moon's observant gaze,
Winter shrouds time in a sparkling haze.
The world sleeps under frosted dreams,
Where moonlight weaves its silver beams.

As frost paints scenes upon the night.
Where stars like diamonds shimmer bright.
Nature's art hangs in crystal chains,
A masterpiece in all that remains.

I dream of morning sunlight
bathing the room in gold,
a gentle awakening,
as the day unfolds.
Rain falling softly
on cobblestone streets,
watching lovers share umbrellas,
wishing I had someone to meet.

I dream of Candlelit dinners,
watching the stars above,
spontaneous dances,
and falling in love.
My life is a canvas
of dreams unfurled,
wishing for perfect moments
so that I could paint the world.

Yet in reality, my alarm is blaring,
I sit sleepily, letting my coffee go cold.
I then rush through the traffic
as the morning grows old.
I splash in murky puddles
and soak my worn shoes,
Then stand on the crowded bus,
chuntering away my morning blues.

When at home the microwave beeps,
and there are bills to pay.
I watch Netflix in silence
With a tv dinner to end my day.
I then lay alone in bed
in this mess that I conceal,
with a quiet awareness
of how I truly feel.
