I despise social media.
It's ugly, to state the obvious
Our lives are posted, retweeted, altered, reblogged, perfected, and photoshopped to exactly how we want to be perceived
We have the freedom to be exactly what they want us to be.

It starts with a few edits doesn't it,
pigmented our skin to seem smooth and sun kissed,
that would seem most acceptable right?
Maybe an extra like for the skinnier waist.
More reassurance for brighter colors.
Some more filters will hid the emptiness you feel with your friends
   Another like
Flashier clothing, phones, shoes, cars, other simple words our eyes have latched on to
     Another like
We urge ourselves to portray the life of leisure and effortless beauty, happiness, success,
       Another like
But what are we enjoying?
         Another like
Views of our changing world through a 3 by 8 view.
           Another like
Events pass by swipe
             Another like
and swipe
               Another like

And when we managed to unlock ourselves from this grasp
We always come back
Like flies to light, more like scratches to a scab
Festering we find ourselves getting ****** back in
To an imaginary world, that if destroyed, would have no physical effects on their fictional beings
For without this world, maybe eyes will open
We will step past the boundaries,
and start to love our beings
unfiltered
I really do not like the social norms of having the staples of social media, it is a toxic area that traps us in an infinite loop of trying to upgrade one another
What's going on?!

With these beautiful dark women bleaching their skin and hiding their features.
Reaching to a point of shame from these beautiful creatures.
They don't believe what the bible says, so they're their own preachers.
While God designed them to be beautiful queens,
living the unachieved dreams of their african ancestors.

Daughters of Africa, daughters of slaves.
Free in the physical, but mentally chained.
Darkened by the morning sun.
Brightened by the evening moon.
A smile that captivates homeless hearts.
A strenght that fascinates hopeless minds.

Dear beautiful black woman,
Know who you are.
Black is beautiful. Black means strong.
Skin tone that matches the earth.
Curves that catches the eye.
Walk like a goddess and talk like a queen.
When you enter a room
let your appearance speak, let your presence prophesy:
"I'm worthy, I'm proud and I'm beautiful"
I was told i wasn't smart enough.
I was told that i wouldn't achieve anything.
But here i am, standing on a stage. Undressed by all my imperfections
With emotional nakedness in front of the mic.
Covered in fear, but driven by courage.

We've all been told something negative.
However our necessity to survive these discouragements should keep our dreams alive.
We should follow our happiness like footsteps in a minefield.
And let succes exist through the art that we create.
For what it's worth i loved you.
Even when my eyes were too afraid to meet yours.
I just wanted to escape the breathlessness of being near you.
I was waiting for the rain to pass over our circumstances.
My heart was like a never ending earthquake.
The beautiful landscape of your mind was never the reason.
For what it's worth i really loved you.
I usually don't write love poems.
Her
In her beauty I found my grace
In her hopes I found my dreams
In her smiles I found my joy
In her tears I found my despair
It's her.

It is appropriate to say thanks
To All who have bumped into me
To All that I bumped into
For without you, I would not
Know who I am

Grateful to all who stopped me
Thanking all who aroused a confusion
Believing we were destined to meet up
For without you, I would not
Know who I am

Conscience is busy configuring
Of thoughts, words and deeds
with or without purpose
For without them, I would not
Know Who I am

Overlapping with those of others
Is my conscience, I realize
Indebted to be of service
This I know
For without others, I would not
Know Who I am

Having known this unavoidable
exchange of influences
It would be futile
To move on without bowing
For without you, I would not
Know Who I am

I take a knee before you
With open arms
Imploring to let us be in peace
In all our dealings
For without you, I would not
Know Who I am
Be A Friend

Be a channel of strength
Through the power of prayer

When you’re silent
Sometimes we complain and lament
Be a channel of strength
Lord grant us patience
Give us peace
In times of toil
Be a channel of strength
Make us captives loyal

In times of doubt and fear
Draw us near
Be a channel of strength
Through the power of prayer

When you’re silent
Sometimes we complain and lament
Be a channel of strength
Lord grant us patience

My untimely and brutal demise seems to be reaching its time.
At least I have you by my side.
i don’t want to fade away into the night.
But living the rest of my life is too out of sight.
I never thought things would reach this height.
But I guess I’ll have to come to terms with my life.
I have received many gifts from God--
      *love

      hope
      understanding
      perseverance
      talents and skills

I have faced many storms
In this journey we called life
But my gifts are enough
To move on

I might have bigger problems
But my God makes the biggest miracles
*I am not afraid anymore
God is love. He provides everything.
