My Dear Poet Jan 2022
“lay low”,
said the lilo
and stay slow
till the wind blow
go down
don’t drown

go on
slip along
stay afloat
in this boat
be brave
stay strong

drift and glide
hover and rest
ain’t it lovely
ride and slide
feeling alive
without a guide
or safety vest
Life is such and so

A skater lone soars on new ice.
I hold my breath as I observe
His every pirouette and swerve.

Yesterday, the water lapped a chilling shore;
Today a brilliant skin holds sway.
Thickening hourly though it may,

I wonder at the nature of the glider there;
Does he consider life and death,
Or think beyond exultant breath

To be the first upon new winter's ice?
He sails along an ice-blade track,
Never falt'ring, never looking back.

Oh, I was young upon a time and flew
The way this skater now does fly,
But fear and "wisdom" hinder twice
While others soar above thin ice.
New Ice! Is it safe? Take a Risk! Take a nap....

a question
worth
asking

a risk
that's worth
taking

craving
you
like a drug

i know
you're
lost

but
you're
here

your smile
is the reason
for mine

i wish to be
more than
friends

i wish to
wake up
where you are

have you
seen you
if not

let me
tell you
that you're

beautiful
in every
single way

i
love
you

The sedum has begun to blush.
Something in change of seasons
That intensifies my craving
for strong male energy.
A Gravitational pull
Towards Infamous downfalls.
Until the day that all the Jessica stories have been told
I will continue living this way
Dancing in the rain
Stomping over the invisible lines
Drawn to keep me contained
On knowing and loving myself

Forged by one's own hand so sharp a blade.
Cast by the universes strongest powers.
A forge so intense in heat and fire.
Bonds as strong as any smithed steel.
No artery immune to it's strikes and piercings.
Vulnerability at it's every mortal ******.
Yet still we choose to love.
To risk to live.... to love.

Dare I spend my time with you
puncture my soul with your deep breath
feel the pain in your feet
walking the Earth and the universe with such love?

Dare I spend time with you
and risk falling into the abyss of deep sad blue
and losing my self in that fall
all with the chance that I will become
who I was meant to be from the start
of the ***** reaching the ****?

Dare I spend time with you
laying myself out
on the expanse of  your skin
feeling its coarse surface
learning its beautiful layers?

May I have the courage to take this small leap
to find you in the saddest and most joyful places.
If I dare to spend time with you
I will find myself in the strong grasp
of your immense reach.
scary little risk
hanging from the growth tree
scary little risk
the one you choose to hide from
stunted,
lost in self protection
protection turned into prison
conservation turned into cage
scary little risk was not the true fear
true fear was not living at all
scary little risk turned into a beautiful rose
but you are afraid of flowers
so you did not watch it grow
scary little risk turned into a beautiful rose

Enter Orlando – or you - with a Paper

…these trees shall be my books
And in their barks my thoughts I’ll character

-Orlando, As You Like It, III.ii.5-6

To write a poem and send it to the world
Is not unlike leaving it in a tree
For Rosalind, your Rosalind, to find
(Even at the risk of being scorned as an acorn)

Putting it out there can be dangerous
Art cannot be art unless it is shared
And Rosalind, your Rosalind, might not like it
(And then there’s that thing about a fallen acorn)

Oh, take the risk: for Rosalind, your Rosalind
Probably won’t conclude that you’re an acorn
You're not an acorn.
