"moana" poems
I'm not Cinderella, who came to the party and met the prince because I didn't have those glass shoes
or being Ariel, exchanging the beautiful tail with feet for a man from another world
Aurora fell asleep long enough, then love came from a prince with a kiss, could it be?
then, should I become Snow White who was poisoned by an apple then fell asleep and the prince came just to be able to see me every day. No
could I have to meet an unlovely and cursed prince like Belle, and love him sincerely?
but I can't like Elsa that freezes the human heart
because I am still need love like Jasmine from Aladdin, but I don't want to be a present
I might have to venture out across the vast ocean to find the lost, yes it's Moana
so I have to be brave and tough like Mulan about anything that will happen in reaching the dreams and love that might not be easy

"follow the yellow brick road"
the witch didn't die
cinderella didn't go to the ball
sleeping beauty didn't wake up
belle escaped the beast
snow white was poisoned and killed
jasmine didn't go with aladin
moana stayed on the island
ariel sayed under water
tiana didn't kiss the prince
rapunzel stayed in the tower
pocahontas didn't save john smith
mulan stayed in the village
anna didn't go after elsa
elsa controlled her powers
anastasia/anya didn't care about her past
a world where evil wins
and there are no princesses
is a scary world.
be careful, princess.

1. you are seventeen and he is younger but so much bigger. you feel like a doll in his palm. you are unaware that his hands between your legs is a contract. He lays you down on your back, and you turn your heard to the TV. Moana is playing.
2. he pulls you to his chest and you whisper, "promise me I won't regret it." he smiles and kisses your forehead. the next day, he tells you he doesn't know if he loves you or not. you regret it.
3. you are almost asleep and his hands keep wandering. you close your eyes tighter. you wish you were dead.
4. he tells you that you don't have to do it if you don't want to, but you know that it's the only way to keep him from leaving. Afterwards, he wipes the tears from your chin and holds you close to his heart, so gentle and soft. you almost feel at home.
5. he leaves. You have to begin picking up the pieces somewhere but you never really find out where to start. a year passes. It has been twelve months of rain but the sun begins to peak out behind its curtain of clouds. you rest.

I found my happiness at Ala Moana
I found my happiness getting lost in the pines
I found my happiness with the trains in Pensacola
I found my happiness stepping rhythms in time
I found my happiness with the wind at 6,000 feet
I found my happiness with the grass as my seat
I found my happiness at the seventh bridge
I found my happiness in the music that I dream
I found my happiness and I let out a sigh
I found my happiness getting lost in her eyes
I found my happiness being encumbered with snow
I found my happiness just waiting to go
I found my happiness in the laugh of an infant
I found my happiness in the smiles of old
I found my happiness in a crowded room
I found my happiness simply thinking alone
I found my happiness standing on my head
I found my happiness as the sun sets red
I found my happiness in a broken heart
I found my happiness was here from the start
I found my happiness without an end
I found my happiness surrounded by friends
I found my happiness knowing I am love
I found my happiness knowing I am
I found my happiness through failure and triumph
I found my happiness with every jump
I found my happiness through arduous endeavors
I found my happiness just being a giver
I found my happiness at the thought of forever
I found my happiness floating down the river
I found my happiness with no reason or rhyme
I found my happiness kissing the sunshine
I found my happiness in the awe of the stars
Although sometimes, I forget where to find it
My happiness is there, wherever I go
I just look deep inside, and it is all that I know

My integrity
Is always in question
When I learn of the suppression of
Ethnic people who suffer
Simply because of who they are
You would think by now
I’d be immune to historical
History of the plight
Of many ethnic cultures
But the degradation
They endured was never ending.....
Losing your identity
Leaves you restless and unsure
As to the expectations of others
The majority of those that understand
Losing ones identity makes you feel
Insignificant like you don’t belong
I have been brought up in a society
Were Maoridom is acceptable
As part of our culture our lives
Yet I am not a Maori
It is simply a way of life
On one side Maori
On the other European
And in between we’re do I fit in
My parents enforced our culture in us
But as children we denied our heritage
We were young we didn’t know any better....
But as I grew older I learnt
more about my culture and it’s history
I no longer turn my back on my culture
I embrace it with all that I am
A proud Pacific Islander
I stand before my forefathers
And embrace their legacy
Of who we are as people of the pacific
And as quoted in Moana
“Voyagers of a never ending story”
I am a Cook Islander and I am proud to be me

I was to drown in the sea,
but you saved me
only to be killed by you
Oh! The sea tossed me
from one wave of misery to the other
But I liked that torture
than being in your arms
For the first time ever I felt something
that was real and genuine
I said my last prayer of joy
Cux I knew that was it - the end
The end of lies, wound and pain from you
Also the beginning of a bliss
and refreshing air they've talked about
from the other side of the world
where I was bubbly headed
I was prepared to meet death.
Just when I was taking my last breathe,
I met the oncoming arm - you
pulling me out
Aah! It's you again
It pains you to let me go
Yet you ain't ready to treat me right
Why not allow me escape in peace
Like Moana, the sea was calling me
I was to die in the sea
But from today, I'll die in your perilous arms
The day you saved me
was the day I truly died

There once was a gal named Alvina
Who lived in a shoe in Regina.
She wanted some tea
That was straight from the tree,
So she shoveled a tunnel to China.

I wish I had a boat
For yonder past the bay, on a clear azure painted day
Dripping of briny spray - I would float.
I'd also likely gloat,
Brag and mutter; of the absence of worldly clutter
Without disdain I'd utter - an ode soaked note;
To the magnificence would wrought this boat.
How I've longed to drift
To fuse with motion - to sway upon that curved, wavey potion
Pondering the notion - of this swelled gift.
The answer cometh swift;
Took me from the predators, stingers and creditors
The lies of the editors - and fractions they rift,
Dissolving into moana - they'd sift.
All alone with the deep;
Of corals a glow under hatchlings of roe,
Steadfast in flow; plankton they'd reap,
Whilst I'd ponder - my last leap.
For one could do worse than a liquid hearse
With no curse - dare stalk that steep,
And no soul for me - would weep.
Sunken then - I'd take this boat
For we'd be capsized, that vainly I'd be baptized
Blended and disguised; in that ever wide moat.
Perhaps I seem the dote,
Drastic and careless that I be airless
Surely tearless and near full bloat,
Perhaps 'tis best; I have no boat.

I know a place where happy ending always do come true.
Narnia? I don't think so,
Hogwarts? my answer is still no,
Disney land? I love to say no.
I'm not Snow White,
that if I eat a poison apple you will come and kiss me.
I'm not Cinderella,
that if I left my slipper you'll search to find me.
I'm not Aurora,
that if I pricked my finger in a spinning wheel you'll give me a true love's kiss.
I'm not Ariel,
that if you found out about me being a mermaid you'll accept me with my fins.
I'm not Belle,
even if I'm the most beautiful in town you're still not my Beast.
I'm not Jasmin,
even if you have the lamp I'm still not the one who you want to wish.
I'm not Pocahontas,
it will be hard for me to paint the color of the wind.
I'm not Mulan,
it will take me hundreds of year to follow my own heart beat.
I'm not Tiana,
but I know my dreams will not be completed without you.
I'm not Rapunzel,
but if I can I will treat your broken heart so you can love again.
I'm not Merida,
I can't shoot any arrows but you came straight to my heart.
I'm not Anna,
I can't travel in a cold just like her but I can endure the coldness living in your part.
I'm not Elsa,
I don't have any super powers but I have a fear, a fear that you will leave me.
I'm not Moana,
I don't think that the ocean will choose me but I decided to chose you.
I'm not a Disney Princess,
but I want to live in Disney land.
I'm not as good as they are,
but I still want to stay for a while.
I'm a lost girl from wonderland,
I'm a lost girl who wants to live in disney land,
I'm a lost girl who loves to be a princess,
I'm a lost girl who chose you to be my prince but you disagree.
I'm not a princess,
you're not my prince.
without having our once upon a time,
I got my own first tragic smile.
