I remember everything.
I’m not sure
if it is more
of a curse
than a blessing.

But I’m grateful.
Because of this,
I remember how
you made me feel;

like I can fight
a horde of monsters
and a legion of demons,
and I can win.
I remember.

Tell me to count to the number
Of days since you’ve been gone
A game of hide and seek
You will always win
Because you’re never
Coming back again.

Your severe gaze
resounds and echoes
the meanness only humans have.
But your hands melt at anything you touch
so that nothing,
even water,
is disturbed by your presence
in this world.
How did you learn
make that face
that kept people at distance
and kept them on their toes.
How hard was it
roam in this world (that you loved too much)
knowing everything would hurt you,
and knowing the defeat at the face of the war
that you never wanted
and you can never win.
How hard is it,
to burn the flowers
born out of your soul
only so people would
avoid the impending disaster
that you are not.

As he stepped into the ring,
Everyone his name did sing.
They wanted him to win
The title, for the commoners.
The title in his last fight.

He was out of practice,
His reflexes had slacked.
Gloves, boxers, guard, did him justice
There was something which he lacked.
Lacked in his last fight.

Before he could hear his favorite song,
Followed by the nerve-racking gong.
He had a look around
To catch a familiar sight,
Have a look at her before his last fight.

He checked the stands,
Then glanced around the ropes
And before he had given all hopes
He heard a familiar sound
Right before the first round.
Go hubby go! Punch him left and right!
She screamed with all her might.
Putting a smile on his face,
And then he boxed like an ace.
Winning the title, just for her.
The title in his last fight.
In this poem I have tried to capture the role of a boxer's wife to lift his spirits before the boxing match.

YOU
CANNOT
ESCAPE
WHAT YOU
MUST FACE.

but, shhh,
ill tell you a secret
you could run away forever,
                                                   and ever,
and never look back

YOU
ARE
SUFFOCATING
                               SUFFOCATING
SUFFOCATING
IN THE THINGS
YOU CANNOT CHANGE.

don't cry, sour child,
you can go away
there is an escape
e s c a p e is what we do, you see,
if you want to do just that,
come with m-

THERE IS NO ESCAPE.
UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SEEN AS
COWARDLY
SELFISH
AND PITIED UPON.

sooooooo... shh...
what will even c h a n g e?
what a strange word, it either never seems to happen,
or it happens too much.
but there is an e s c a p e, you see,
come with me-

FACE ME.
come with me-
FACE ME.
come with me~
FACE ME.
you can't win~
YOU CAN'T WIN.
you can't win~
YOU CAN'T WIN.

Oh, yes, yes, I can.
...Right?
well... can they?
