i have never traveled farther then where i lose myself in your eyes, tears of happiness rolling down my cheeks as i realize
there is no better place then right here, no more love in the world then the hot summer air that hangs between us
and you know,
who needs a plane ticket anyways, or those crazy friday nights
you are my one and only destination.
there is no better sight then your little blonde silhouette crumpled into a twin mattress, no greater joy inside of my heart then hearing you call for me in the morning and give me a warm hug.
anyone who ever said i ruined my life by having you early, was so very wrong.
you are the best possible place for me to be, my everyday adventure and my biggest sun ray of happiness..
you are my heart
and i am yours
and
when you are older and can understand what it means to hurt and to struggle i will tell you the stories of how i built this life for us
me and you
and when you hold me at night a little closer because you are afraid of the dark i will tell you there is nothing to fear
and when you tell me you love me
as you drift off to sleep
i will
stroke your head softly with a smile
and tell you
forever,

i love you more

I miss packing my bag the night before...
I miss the open road…
I miss the journey…
I miss the airport announcements…
I miss calling Nnem Omma before the flight takes off
I miss the beauty of the clouds from above them
I miss waiting for my luggage to come through
I miss asking for directions
I miss the hotel rooms
I miss the ****** food

I crave that high when the plane leaves the ground
I crave new sights, new smells and new food
I crave a town where no-one knows my name
I crave saying hello in a new language
I crave new wonders and adventures
I crave postcard-worthy pictures
I crave the journey yet to begin
I haven't written anything in so long...Rusty me! The pandemic won't let us travel as we want, so this piece is an outpour

Take me to the train station
To the moonlit tracks
With waves upon the rails
And spitfire cracks
Let me rest among the passengers
In their blue, tired seats
Spun by frayed end threads
Wilted in the streets
Take me past foreign, foggy neon signs
To the western, wild call
When the whistle bends into the wind
I’ll know I’ve seen it all

I traveled the globe only to come back to you
to regale you with stories from the other side of the sea.
you would be amazed to hear how similar they are to you and me.
they share the same moon, countryside and even look up to the same sky.

let me tell you stories of the people that I met, their food, sweetly fragrant, still lingering in the air.
their God is different though, not like ours. What is surprising is they ask for the same things while praying, just like us.
I found the same beauty there wherever I went, the similar intangible, etherealness in them.
they also say the outer glaze doesn't matter. Just like us, they look for the inner essence.

they may be on the other side, but they are just like us,
the smallness of a dividing line only keeps us apart.
the disparity is fiction. The contrariness only on paper.
I have seen the other side. And let me tell you, just like us, they share the same sky.

I just want to be on the cliff at Tintagel
Looking to the castle, & Merlin's cave.
Or Bigbury beach, on the sea tractor.
Or hanging off a rock at Peak District
Or hanging off a tree in Holborough

Maybe further afield than England,
Coffee with her at Montmartre
Or hiking in the regions of Inca
And bathing in coves of Costa Rica
Or climbing pyramids of Cancun

A list of things to do once lockdown ends

Broken hearts and shattered dreams
All fray away with unraveled seams

Long for the day to be set free
In wanderlust out by the sea

Listen to the waves they crash and pull
Like musical tunes the sounds will lull

But lonely hearts travel alone
And nowhere ever feels like home

Not out by the vast blue sea
Or in the depths of ripe green trees

These places won't remember me
As lonely hearts are never seen

Not by the eyes of passing souls
Or by the eyes who make us whole

No, lonely hearts must pay a toll
Oh, where do the lonely hearts go?

I’m sitting in a nowhere,
No life, no sense of flair.

Life bustles all around,
But it’s all a monotone mound,
There’s no variation to be found.

New places,
New spaces,
And new paces
Is the basis
For a mind in stasis.

So i might stop this mope,
And put a wayward hope
Into a little elope.
Maybe I need to travel. I conformed my desires into this rhyme, and I mean it when I said conformed. It’s another forced poem.
Warrior Poet Feb 2020
The cold reveals the air being taken
By a foreigner who has just awaken;
They hear the rain hitting his tent
And smells an earthly scent;

They pack the tent into a pack
And lifts the heavy load onto their back;
Begins the journey over the mountain
To see what beauties in contains;

The thickness of the fog is great
That it makes it difficult to travel straight;
The rain picks up as the wind blows harder
Which makes seeing difficult for the wanderer;

But the fog clears as the winds die,
The rain calms down as it falls from the sky;
The journeyman sees a clearing close by
And what it reveals could make anyone cry;

Drops rain down from heaven above
To the earth that absorbs it like a sponge;
The grass and trees become greener,
The air and ground grows colder;
Truly a beautiful sight for a traveler’s eyes.
