The sky was blue that day,
speckled with white
And the sun was a pleasant orb,
Toasting the skin of the people to a light brown
Showering the tops of every wave
With diamond rays
The fishermen cast their nets
Methodically, cheerfully
And she peeked out from her hiding place,
curiosity getting the best of her
His hands smelled like crab
And he smiled, worn like the sea
And she smiled back,
hesitantly
Because, of course, it wasn’t custom,
this smiling
But she couldn’t help it
Because his eyes were kind
And he,
he couldn’t believe them
(his kind eyes)
For she was the stuff of fables
And she shed her scales for him,
the fisherman with the smiling worn eyes
And instead wore rosy pink legs
that toasted to a light brown
under the pleasant orb of sun
i don't remember writing this?
Safe in my watery church,
I quietly watch warm water-drops
gather on every bit of my thin, scarred flesh.

My eyes become moons, the demi-globes
of water on my skin become moons,
my heartbeats become moons, the moon
becomes an even nearer moon
and I pale in all that sacred bright.
Dive down into
the Sea of Words,
flip my mermaid tail
to the passersby.

Dive down deep
to the bottom
of the sea, the
very deepest depths
of this salty sea.

When I come up
to the surface again,
starfish weave shells
into my auburn hair,
while sirens sing
new words to me.

Vast expanse of
emerald waters,
Sea of Words
you are my home.

that I sit in showers
because water understands.

No questions. No judgment.

It just holds me.

We feel your struggle,
We know your pain.
Without Twisted Mermaid,
What is there to gain?

So take this token,
A red beauty fontaine.
Fly high as a kite,
And pilot your own airplane.

Name her now,
Do not be afraid.
Don't worry, our brother,
She'll never replace Mermaid.

Sailor,
And my heart still remains
In the unknown depths of the ocean
Deep within the treasures of the sailors
Burried fathoms deep
Sunk with the weight of the past pain
Come on sailor help me please
Help me loosen it from all the coral
And see me swim all over the ocean
Explore the seas with my emotions
And
I'll take you with me
Dont worry about that
For I only said
To free my heart
I didn't tell you to give it back to me..
your Mermaid..
another letter to my sailor.. :)
Niveda Nahta Aug 2015
Sailor,
I never met a man of your valor,
You held my hand through everything
Even though its only been a month..
I love you and appreciate everything you do,
In a month I found someone
Worth persuading
So much as to,
you were so captivating
I don't care about your past
But I do care about your future
And I hope you will remember
to include me in it!
And I want it to be good
And I want us to be travelers,
And wanderers,
But a thing to remember would be that
We will always be home to see each other..
And I want you to know that I will not make promises that I cannot keep but
do things for you that you will not regret...
so I want you to be with me in everything and always..
I love you and these are not just words and I want you to be happy as much as I want to be happy in life..
So smile and I'll smile and make your day like you make mine..
Longing in anticipation,
Your Mermaid..
yes,I love a sailor, and yes I write letters to him! :D ❤

He swore under his breath every time he saw her.
She was unlike any creature he had ever seen.

The dust on her wings and the dew on her ****-like hair,
She'd only be better if she were a mermaid.
Hitchhiker
My passenger seat
Her eyes tear up as
She talks about
Placebo happiness
And the
Digital pineapples
She never wanted
As a girl
About how the world really
Should have been a square
Then nobody'd ever fall off
And more people could care
About how nothing ever makes sense
Up here
And that she doesn't believe in
Calling a piece of dirt
A home
And how in my heart I feel that
She's perfectly
Batshit crazy
And that she could be the one
How everything seems okay
Every time she breathes out
And
In
And I'm stunned
As she gives me a look so
Delicate it shatters like
Glass against industrial
Cold tempered
Steel
And the moment she says
"Thanks for the ride, But I can't stay"
This fifty mile fairytale of ours just
Ends.
I whispered your name into the inner
twisting curl of a conch shell, hoping
an echo from saltier waves would carry
it through shadow-rimmed currents until it
flowed softly along the shore, like my breath
settling across your neck
