the desert lies in wait
the anvil of the sun
it's creatures know their fate
'fore the summer has begun
the heat will either ****
as surely as a gun
or folk bend to its will
the weather's cruelty to shun

the parched and dusty soil
waits for the summer rains
these will quench or spoil
flooding down arroyo drains
water weeps - the El Nino
great winds rip the plains
like an eagle's cry they echo
destroy in their refrains

the weather makes or breaks you
whether fire or killing frost
the farmer is the one who
pays the greatest cost
every year the price is dear
so much to be lost
temperatures to soar
the earth is torn or tossed

but the people of Sonora
already have begun
to feel It's powerful aura

the anvil of the sun

every year hikers pass out
from the heat, and die in the desert

be warned - the sun is as Vulcan
not the character on Star Trek
tho he has pointy ears

HE CAN BE A DEVIL

Shadow Paradox
~
Tell me a story

One threaded in moss dreams
Dangling from a teardrop
Let the words drip like dew
Healing and soothing the cracks
within my stone heart

The tales told from the soul
tilts on the eyelash
A blink away
Those tales fall inside the iris galaxy
Where sleep becomes a lullaby

For the restless

It's been asked before
But nevermore
Why does the caged bird sing?

He's been locked away
No sight of day
Why does the caged bird sing?

His vision's blocked
Out of sight, he's locked
Why does the caged bird sing?

No soul to hear
His voice so clear
Why does the caged bird sing?

But oh how his song
Is out of tune, it's wrong
Why does the caged bird sing?

Maybe what he sings
Isn't what it seems
Maybe it's only screams.
"We think the caged birds sing, when indeed they cry."

Dead Lock
I carry little worlds
And open them to peek and look
Some I visit daily
Between the worn covers of my book
moss May 2015
summer is my freedom
stress and anxiety leave me
my mind breaks the chains
School needs to end like right now. Three more weeks...

AK Bright
Broken, shattered
Dreams unraveled
Yet new life springs
From empty matter

Bury me
That I might live
A damaged vessel
Is all I give

Bruised and battered
Full of sin
O wretched man
Abiding within

Bitterness watered
By the tears I've cried
Forgive me Lord
For I have tried

Arms outstretched
Mercy tender
For victory now
I must surrender
