Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life. *-Herman Hesse

This willow weeps for no one

It hears the mountain's tears
riding on the backs of slow waves

This willow knows

that the sun's silence
is understood by every atom

It knows

that soon the rocks will rise up and
take arms

They will wage a war against concrete
and flesh

Soon the earth will heave a sigh of relief
and will resume feeding the willows that have
long ago stopped crying
I love willow trees and it's true, this one spoke to me. I'm simply its messenger.

Sometimes
I see him in soft shapes
and I can feel he
is fathomless

All beauty showing in
wild plumes of energy

We began this love affair
on the other    side  of  sleep

Him    there
luring me gently
with  his  kisses
like a  sweet lullaby

And me
waiting impatiently
to fall deep  into a
fatal sleep
If you're lucky love will come find you in your dreams. It's true.

I shaped him

created him out

of my own image

until he became this

most precious flesh

I didn't know of fate

and how it would claim

him over and over again

then I got it,

in the most

certain of terms

and it feels like a sentence

I cannot escape from

but more like a wound

I am a sorry wound

that desperately needs mending...

IT
"Fire cannot burn IT, Water cannot wet IT, Wind cannot dry IT, Weapons cannot shatter IT. IT is eternal, unborn, IT cannot die."
- Bhagwad Gita

IT is the real you
You conceive IT when
you sit still and calm the mind
IT is the soul
the awareness
beyond the observer
Seek and you shall find
that the IT is you
Listen to IT
For the soul speaks
softly in the language of
truth and silence
May it live on
forever

And so it is...
Shhhhhhh...

feelings look like bones
hard and white skeletons
of your movement into boredom
onto the threshold of happiness
Then again
if you look hard
enough at a brick wall
it becomes a window
into another dimension...
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2018
Good feeds the poor
It also shelters them
Good embraces difference
with inclusive arms
and does not deny people
their freedoms
nor kills them for
their right to protest injustice
Good does not laugh
at the expense of others
and very often laughs at itself
it protects the Earth
with everything in its power
and knows we are all part
of the Earth like the flowers
and the animals
Good is having a heart and
not afraid to use it
and if you don't care for Good
then maybe you are not so Good
and that is a bad thing...
We need more good. Less bad.

I wear my skin as a test,
that god is my witness to
how you treat me.

I wear it like a cross.
my crucifixion though
I could save the world.

I am the secret
of the night come
risen from its womb.

Ordained by the Sun,
My skin is a test and
I am warm inside like you.

We all want a place
in this world
to fit in like a puzzle piece
plebeian and all happy
like
this world isn't perfect enough
this isn't peaceful enough

by the weight
of just one oppression
just think of how
stifled we are with
millions of them

I am day

There is something
urgent on my breath

Nothing really new here
but an ancient dirge
we're dancing to

When you see it
This urgency
you'll know
It's in the eyes

and maybe on the peeks
of your skin

the brink has got us
and
Into the unknown
matter where all good
endangered species go
Doomed poems tonite, I guess.

did you know
that you are too afraid and
in doubt
of the naked wound

how saline sweet

if you could alchemize

dare this damp blood

how courageous some of you
with no bandage
to let it exit to evolve into

We are in a sad state. The fires never wane and the smoke left to choke us, in our sleep, are out of control, suffocating. She was bleeding, wrestling with karma and the boogie man. Both are human, afterall; you can tell by all their naughty vices.

Give up
For the meeting
of flesh shall
surely perish

Wander in my love
you may stumble upon
the finest of linens

Spin always and listen to
the morning
it knows all things
it is the life
it is the eternal
the absolute living breath

For the meeting of flesh
is pleasant but shall rot
and
will surely perish

Candlelit dinners
are meant to impress
I've seen the show
'Keeping Up Appearances'
way too many times
to acquire that knowledge
but candles are filters for
aged women like me
the glow softens the face
then I begin to look like
a 'Star Trek' cameo shot
with vaseline smeared
all over the lens
To be young and
wrinkle-less again
would be my dream
just without the dumb that
comes with it

No locks of gold she would have worn
Nor fair in skin she would adorn

Every time she rose to speak
No ears to listen how they sleep

No one cared for the girl with naps
How she read you like a map

She had issues with her self
All of them on a dusty shelf

For everyone to judge and see
Her human flaws plauging thee

With no one there to help her plight
Her body began to dim in light

when she died in dark and cold
No one knew her depth in soul

Who was a fire that warmed the old
A golden angel you would behold

the gold soul

Paper womb

the pressure kneads

open my everlasting eyes

the black of nothing
with wings of fire
glorious

make you go mad
if it weren't so pleasing
to the ear

Are you captive
save the longing bits
doing nothing
for the approval

spreading them around

I have a

Lovebites

I guess all of the
yelling and biting
Has paid off.

He is in awe.

I bring to him this pain
Whenever he is empty.
When he is waiting
for me to meet him at his ghost.

He brings to me this
rejection whenever
I am hungry.
When I want more.

The kind that refuses
even stolen kisses.
The kind that revels in power.

I am astounded as I feel it.

We both just want to walk awake.
To feel everything within each instant.
To welcome the gut in every waking hour.

We’ll make each other feel something,
even if it is from teeth gripping at ****** skin.

He would come
to me in waves of
hot whispers and moonlight
His touch was penetrating
and was real life
He made misery feel like
warm flesh
sweet and inviting
but it hurt the first time
the slow pain
of him entering
then leaving gently
Skin craving skin
we knew we were doing
something meaningful
something substantial

I bloomed like
a shy flower
in the midnight Sun
And it was much more than
*** had anything
to do with it...

she couldn't be that way
awkward bashful
cocoa girl
a mad obtuse thing

She has a symphonic voice

She roams like sweet breath
gives peeks
melting the sky with vengeance
while veiling her tongue
with ecstasy

divining the wisdom of bones.

My body imbued with the

leave this story
And like the birds
I shall inherit the wind.
Made some revisions that I am happy with. An older poem. I am in an entirely different place now.

channel the Earth
and hear what She
is telling you.

to see the signs of what
She wants to convey.

Could we be friends again?

With the Earth in all Her
overwhelming magnificence.

No hierarchies

Just a hands off-
Asking for only
what we need
approach.

It's so simple.
To make earth happy again.
Do what you can to help the Earth heal.

In a dream,
she follows me towards
The crevice of the world.

My mother, indigo raging
like a sharp scream within my brain.

I would never rid of her peculiar grin.
Her smirk, a missile, seeks out
the errors of my ways.

But life after cunning life,
She finds me settling at the root
then cuts me off.

I sit sustained here
in the moment composed
and waiting on her return.

She is the real culprit
of my shadow.
And knows this strange abyss.

I choose to keep her away
In the silence between my breath
To begin loving her from afar.

In hopes that she will one day
find herself without a curse
And out of her mad little box.

Mansion
by A.R. Ammons

So it came time
for me to cede myself
and I chose
the wind
to be delivered to

The wind was glad
and said it needed all
the body
it could get
to show its motions with

and wanted to know
willingly as I hoped it would
if it could do
something in return
to show its gratitude

When the tree of my bones
rises from the skin I said
come and whirlwinding
stroll my dust
around the plain

so I can see
how the ocotillo does
and how saguaro-wren is
and when you fall
with evening

fall with me here
where we can watch
the closing up of day
and think how morning breaks

You move within me
this fluttering heat inside.
Drool to slow sips,
my tongue forms into your lips.

You expel at a distance,
The demons we come carrying.
As you taste me unseen
from your pillow.

I stretch and bend hoping
You’ve caught my kiss.
You cut the pain and
I take you in like medicine.

one day to be fodder
for the Earth
She will consume us
after we have had enough
for we are cyclical beings
waning always waning
fading into frequencies

I'd like to think
we have an eternity
to come back again
if necessary
to try on new flesh
to eat again
at the bounty of Earth
