watch as they sleep
they rest
as their lungs and heart continue
confused
puzzled as to why
why we try to imitate
death
when it's not their turn
when they have infinity to accomplish it
when time is bounded by their mortality
keep moving
keep going until you crash
until your lungs and your heart are no longer confused
but they find purpose in assisting
your brain to dream things that
will propel your tomorrow

this love was for me

do you know there's no sleep
no sleep
sleep
sleep
while you comfortably dream of me

my heart tore into pieces when she told me not to call her my first love
she assumed how could I love her when I gave up on us
but losing that title was as hard as leaving you
because that was the last thing that I could ever hold on to

if you ask what is wrong
and she says
I'm insane
don't leave her
she wants to know
that it's not her name

I've learned
a new act of love;
to protect.
But she doesn't get that I am her shield;
from myself,
a threat she refuses to detect.

substance is a

heavy
enough to hang any head
enough to sink any soul
enough to drown ecstasy

Love feels like walking outside on the first spring day
not like summer where there's little transition with nothing to say
since spring is a relief from frigid oppression
it is a shift backwards, a digression
to a new cycle an infancy
the stage of life where your feelings have no privacy
where the sweetest words are matched by a sour tongue
where learning to feel has just begun

this springtime love hit with a kiss
that melts any cold heart with the warmth of bliss
the taming of love should never be done
why should you hide emotions from anyone?
because love is a selfless giver
that will pour out as an overflowing river

into the gulf of the heart of the one they love

the cloak
hn Nov 2014
a dark heavy cloak surmounted on my shoulders
sleeves tied around my  neck
its tail pulling boulders
linked by chains that clanged the sounds of my heart
which begged me to stay
yet pulled me apart

as i look at these golden stalks i ask why
did i choose to go a thousand miles
why i left my love for the dreams of success
why i broke her heart into mosaic tiles

she is
as beautiful as before
as beautiful as these golden stalks
rushing my car door

my love that can be no more

the Nile
hn Nov 2014
let the river flow
drowning emotions
draining mistakes
burying uncertainties

let the love flow
carrying potions
from wastelands

emptying the Nile
down into the M
erasing its misery
maroon tinted soil
beautifies for a mile
