To forgive yourself
is to redeem your anger --
to give it to love!

They spewed words
meant to offend

Their beliefs were not mine

They tried to change me
to make me see through their eyes

They were insecure in their beliefs
and what they needed from me

Was my approval, a justification

The reaction they sought
never materialized

Their anger grew
into a childish tantrum

To be secure means
never having to argue
your beliefs

I loved you ..
And  you meant so much..

I never thought that
I 'd cry this much
Just for me to see
That you're never going to be here with me..

Ever.

I'm screaming
I'm shaking
I'm wishing
that someday
you'd look back
and say that you  miss me too..

I'm begging to stop
myself
from this chaotic sanity.

Biting my lip,
whispering to the air.

*I love you.
I wish you knew.

There's something inexplicable
about the way
they make you feel

nothing.

Happiness is fleeting
but
you are your own mistake
you keep repeating.

one of these nights
might turn out right
if you keep your mouth shut
like the door you're always
finding yourself behind
with your back against the wood,
muscles tensing
as you knew they would.

Nose bleeding-
when is the last time you ate?
It took you an hour to get ready but
no one can see all your hard work
in the shade.

"baby, you look great"
is all you wanted to grace you ears
but you've got too much on your plate
and there are only couples here.

They will pay you no mind
and you will begin to feel
you might have been left behind.

you pretend you aren't hungry
because it seems more grungy.
cigarettes will stain your teeth
and smoke will spin circles at your feet
as you sway alone;

always hanging in the wings
you're looking for another drink
another triple shot
and you sink deeper into
the half-assed hope
that this will be a night
you forgot.

Just more meaningless crumbs
of these evening hours
accumulating into an unusable mass
of dried out nights

exaggerate another fight
you had with your mind-
what will you do when they call you out
for being lower than the grout
in the bathroom
baby face like you just came out of the womb
your knife is duller than
your conversation topic
you're a fake-
From a mile away can you be spotted.

Drained of inspiration
plagued by perpetual consternation
what will you sample next
on your way to a falsified elation.

Spending weeks away dragon chasing-
How long will you be on mental vacation?
They're growing impatient.

Rough draft/stream of consciousness as per the usual. Based from the perspective of a mid-20-something who realizes they've been too much of an *******.

Written in January and then forgotten in my drafts. I can't write worth a **** lately so have this.

I don't mind doing for people,
But don't take advantage of my doings.

I spend the day alone
I spend the month alone
I spend the year alone
Unable to do
What I would like to do

I wish I had a friend
Who is a woman

I hope there is a woman
Who would make
A small dedication poem
About how one of my poems
Made her feel

It would be fun
My love goes out
To all the kind
And compassionate women

embryos abandoned by narrow-minded chauvinists
became creations that  were left to the vagaries of women
hallowed feminists with their Ankara bags
perfumed head-ties with glittering beads
the sounds of their colliding bangles filled the space
they had no invitation to the platform
but their ways had won a people’s heart

protectors of knowledge
intellectual midwives
the people of the Village of Faces
salute you!
this is a praise poem; powerful women is different from women in power

Crushing Love
Friendship is like ******* your pants.

Everyone can see it, but only you
can feel it's true warmth.

Thank you for being the **** in my pants.

Okay, so here's a poem challenge! 6 days until Valentine's Day, well here's something to do:

There are a couple days left before Valentine's Day! So every day until then, write a poem about someone you care about. Each day, write about a different aspect of the person you care about. Use the tag: #vdayaspects
This person can be anyone, imaginary, real, someone you hate. Just someone you know well.
