You were the sea

that left the harbor

After awhile
you get used to being a shipwreck.
But
Some days
You get that sinking feeling
All over again.

As you stood there

With your heart in one hand

And nothing in the other


I knew I would take them both.

I see
I ache
I hear
I taste
and
I smell.

Yet nothing seems to make any sense
right now.

You could push me
Off a cliff
And
I would apologize
For being too close
To the edge.

It felt like lifetimes ago but I remember everything. I remember you. Mostly how you were always searching for something. Like the first time you placed your head on my chest. How you traced circles on my skin like my heart was saturn, you made me feel like I was the universe.

If you can't hold someone's attention
what makes you think you can hold their heart?

I'll just make like a tree
and fall peacefully..

I take a sip of my coffee
sinking down in my seat
I’m feeling better than ever
Let out a sigh of relief.

I'm shooting for her heart with my finger on the trigger.

I miss the olden days
Back when we would
Bring a pillow with us
So that anywhere
Can be our home.
