It is said that our sun is the force of life
But I disagree...our nightly counterpart is the usher;
The guide to our show with its soft glow light-

As I lay in the moon garden,
Four o' clocks at ten and Sonata 14
Swaying through a bamboo breeze,
I see with full clarity
The man I will run to in reflections off of the lakes in my eyes-

Salt of the Earth always within my grasp
Grounded by the weight of your gravity,
I long to come to you, you precious thing...

Rocket violators, child's play compared to my dreams,
When I float in the exosphere-
With open arms, like a white climbing rose-
A creeping phlox, my bleeding heart beats soundly.
The small family of four
were mixed into a crowd
of tired nearly exhausted
and disheveled long distant
travelers. Most having walked
overland for many weeks from
their homelands in Central or
South America driven by the
desire to escape physical danger
and abject poverty, all seeking a
new beginning. Men and women
many with babies or children in
their arms or upon their backs.
Willing to risk everything to reach
the Promised land.

Nearing their objective their paths
are blocked by a tall fence of steel
and barbwire, behind which stand men
with guns and snarling barking dogs.

And upon that barrier wall are posted
many signs some written others implied
in several languages that read.
"Stop!" "No Trespassing! "
"No Vacancies! Full up!"
"No Vagrants need Apply!"
"No work Here!"
"Not accepting any new applicants!"
"Move along no loitering allowed!"
"Go Back Where You Came From!"
"THIS BORDER CLOSED!"
"Violators are subject to having your
children taking from you, and or
you arrested or being shot!"

The disheartening collective message
being, you are not welcome here.
We got ours and you can't have any!
Oh, American I hardly know thee
anymore.
I spent my whole life
Being kicked by the people I love
So when looking for someone new
I always settle
Not because I want to
But because I don't deserve to be with someone perfect
Because they do not belong in my chaos
Because I need love there and then
Even if it is utterly flawed
I spent my whole life
Being deemed imperfect
From my family
My friends
Even my violators
I was never good enough
Do not love me
Do not caress me
Do not tell me I am perfect in spite of my flaws
Do not get that close
I will fall in love
I will be broken again
Girls like me
Don't get perfection
I get what I get
No complaints
Appreciate what I have
Because in a instant
I will have nothing and no one again.

I have known you as a land
Filled with natural sweetness,
Fertile to the point of Willingness,
And productive to all.

You have been under the management of great leaders
Whose echoes resounds out of your reach as either bad or good managers.

You are a land to reckon with
But the torment of the old brigades
wouldn't let you go.

They call you Nigeria the great
But I call you the great land of nobility
Whose resources satisfies generations
Unremitting.

You are the land I hail from,
The land of my fathers
Whose greatness abound.

Sooner or later you will stand
To defend your name again,
You will ***** your glory in victory,
You will stand without lurch
and display your greatness.

You will wipe the tears of your inhabitants
who have learnt their lessons.

You are indeed a land of peace,
Designed to redoubt your citizens
In other to awaken your redound
But your redoubtable sculpts and scuff.

Your violators will crumble on their knees in astonishment
Seeking peace.
The unimaginable will surprise them soonest
Because peace refits itself.

This land must soar in glory,
Her people will rejoice again.
The land of my fathers is Nigeria,
Rich in culture and overly blessed.
This is that great land I hail from.
The voice of hope reassures its citizens: "there is hope for the nation."

There is no sky or earth
in the white van that crosses me over,
nor in the drywall coop painted red
where white men with tattooed arms
stood up and sit down, up and down,
unleashed erections pivoting
and searching for the best angle
to penetrate my forever painful ***.

I am called “pollo”, chicken,
“nuevo carne”, new meat
by the coyote who drove me
and the gringos who maul me,
their millet dollars tossed into hands
waiting unsmiling at the ajar door,
passage paid with my legs,
eggs for pollos not eaten.

Across the hall I hear the cackling
of men orgasming into torn sheets,
a softer clucking than the maras gangs
of Tegucigalpa roosting the food market
and the barrios for ****** violators.
In Honduras anyone can ******
a woman and nothing will happen.  
At least, in Texas they bury you.

They promise half of half of half of profits,
less than 50 pesos, dollars on a $50 John.
They dress me in corpse rags that
stink of gasoline and last *******;
feed me grain, maize, rain barrel water.  
My nakedness kills fleeing for freedom.
Nobody will risk saving a puta, *****
from a charcoal window stash house.

I dreamed once I could wear silk dresses
or richly sew them together for a small,
life with a good man and brown-eye kids.
The Chinese girl smuggled in from Fuzhou
can aspire to own a nail salon, or work
a massage parlor run by Sister Ping’s heirs.
Biloxi runaways can traffic on NY dreams.
I have only violation and suicide.

I traveled the border crossing between
Tegucigalpa and the American Dream,
enough  to forget why I crossed over,
times enough until I wasn’t me anymore,
to pace back and forth, scratch at
and settle in the straw of forgetfulness,
American in I have a  heavy debt
that only heaven can release.
Covenant violators,
******.

You were Obligated to help me.

Consent is not just for ***
when intrusion is not checked
pushing past the very walls
meant to protect integrity

at the risk of sanity
a sad victim of disrespect
what’s considered mildly rude
moves into realms that abuse

these boundaries set by privileged folk
from the place of power’s throne
might made right by consequence
of desires that few admit

while protections are instilled
enjoyed within their four walls
then forgotten when applied
to the ones found outside

the very same would be condemned
when meted out to their clan
of violators without regard
for consent outside of bounds.
