Clenched
Justina Julianna Apr 2020
The closer you got, the more I clenched my fists nervously and avoided your gazes. A poor attempt at avoiding the inevitable close proximity that we both weren’t going to protest.

Movies

Always made to believe that just because there was hope in the world, meant love would greet you in everything you did. Frustrated by movies and their flawless execution of hope left you daydreaming and teary-eyed. The next day you will forget the hope the movie gave you and carry on afraid. When you give him the bad news that you're inspired but afraid you anticipate confusion. He understands and nods his head as you explain that you loved and it hurt. It hurt so bad that you seek it and then reject it when you remember what you taught yourself about loving. He is in the middle of my mind and my heart and its unfair. I blame the movie.

Pretending
Justina Julianna Dec 2019
Every gust of wind invited a sense of peace into her non existent will to pretend she was okay. Stepping outside, the wind blew onto her face, through her hair, through her thick skin. For once there was a slim apologetic figure of beauty in the world. Alive for that brief gust of air, she apologized to the wind. She only felt apologetic to the wind and it was not her fault. Tired of being abandoned, she claims the wind will never leave her to feel uninvited to life's party.

Blisters
Justina Julianna May 2019
Rolling hills in the country seen him fall apart and put himself back together day in and day out. He remained buoyant and intact because he loved. His heartbeat was loud for everyone, especially for his kids. I watch him tear up when he’s proud, and cry when he misses his mom. Hurt by the world, but still smiles to reassure the blisters will heal, and to seek elucidation for why the hills watch.

Afraid
Justina Julianna May 2019
I am wide awake. Awaiting answers, a love story, and a place that feels like home. But what happens when the answers arrive, I love, and I’m home. True bliss won’t begin until the fighting for basic necessities is over, and everything I thought I had to fight for won’t matter anymore. Fate in revenge, even for the empathetic.

Reflections in the puddles scream at every raindrop on her face, as she was forced to forget you.

Youth
Justina Julianna May 2019
Her warm, young, caring heart began to beat senselessly. The sun applauded the moon day after day, and overtime her heart became an angry fire that threatened the stars. All the innocence was gone and her hopes of a fresh start felt as slim as her waistline.

— The End —
