The Vegan King
Looked across the table
At his son,
Wondering where he had gone
So wrong
And what would become
Of his kingdom
Once he had passed on
His mantle
To a vegetarian.
I misread the title of a novel being read opposite me on the tube: The Vegetarian  by Han Kang.  I thought it read 'The Vegetarian King'.  You take inspiration where you can find it.

Squeals cry out as the ax smashes her guts

Dog barks loudly in multiple fears.

The man shouts, "Shut up you little mut!"

Her last breaths are heard as her eyes form crystal tears

A week later passes, the man notices his dog no longer runs

A month passes, his dog skips meals

"Papa, we must take Enzo to the vet!"cries ones of his sons

"It is obvious your dog is mourning from a loss and is suffering from PTSD" the veterinarian reveals

The worried man looks away in guilt

He quivers to continue the dialogue

Tears shed down his face as he remembers gripping the tilt

"They were best friends. Oceana and the dog. At times she surprised me for a pig how she could outsmart a dog."

A year later...

"Come along Enzo and Denver, supper's ready!"

The new piglet of the family snorts happily as the dog and his new best friend munch on their meal

"You did the right thing Papa." as his son yawns grasping his teddy

The former farmer kisses his son goodnight as he goes back to work
on his new zeal

A sign written, "Animals have a heart and soul just like humans. End all animal abuse for their kingdom is just as precious as ours."

We drink wine
As the weary wings of the dove
Labor over restless graves
Weaving between the carnival cruises
Drifting along the red canal

Three hundred cubits long,
Fifty wide and thirty tall
Rivers red overflow
The cypress whip cracks
Licking the ****** hide
With a serrated tongue

Ripped from gnawed *******; Raw
From the desperate lips of brothers and sisters.
Rivers red overflow
With the whimpers of last breaths
Muted by the blade of violent delight
And teeth grinding machines

We sit in our squeaking rubber boots
Cutlery clinks and clacks, saws, severs, slice.
Rivers red overflow
With an anguished unholy
Screeching sound
Deaf are our saintly ears

We drink wine
As the weary dove
Returns empty beaked
Once more to his perch
And preens his scarlet feathers

Well where do we start?
Bob,
That answers a lot of questions before asked.
He was a vegan, kind of?

Never did he linger on thoughts of animal flesh,
vegan you could single him upon in certain words.
He would not linger on the animal nutritional formalities.

Could he linger on the repulsive tastes of pork, beef, lamb.
He would heave at mere thoughts of digesting these
peaceful recipients of the plant we delve all upon.

But even fish was out of his lingering taste buds.
He did how ever have a taste that differed from the
palettes of most, for it was of those he called friend.

He contorted on the repulsiveness of what his hunger
desired in wanting attention, but as those around waited
for there inevitable ending. He lingered on how they were savoured.

Bankruptcy of morals was his downfall, he saw others as
just meat sacks. Things that were as wanting in consumption
as those they fed upon, There screams were so inviting.

Have you heard an animal scream. No they don't, they
just look cynical in why your ending, their existence and stare.
Where we cry like lambs to the slaughter of our ending.

Emotion makes those that tear salt upon features
taste that much better than those unintelligent creatures
that just except there oblivion with eyes of so be it.

I have a sickness that thrives on the taste of you superficial
fear that I will not end you. No I will cease you light and
endeavour to feed on you lifeless carcass now silent.

*"Hi I'm Bob I'm a vegan struggling with the concept of
no meat in my diet, I don't eat animal, but I still linger
for the taste of meat inbetween of my moist lips and teeth.

my head is hanging out of the window of a moving car
and i am trying to fly.
the sound of the music drowns out thought
i want to be here, and i am meant to be here.

my heart is hanging by a fine thread
over someone's mind.
and they do not agree with me
so i try my best to map out their soul.

somebody's heart is hanging by a rope
above my own mind.
my head is hurting and my eyes will not focus.
none of them will.

i am holding a cat in my arms
whispering "i'm sorry"
for those of us who refuse to acknowledge that she knows
what i am trying to say.

as you take a bite of flesh,
i rip a chunk of an apple from its core.

you really think my heart is in the wrong place?

How can I phrase this?
Lamely laid - I've paid my way to my own grave, but I changed
Transformed
It's the day I will exclaim in pity pools and parade budded skies
My lovely hearts are carried to fry
It's why?

It's city kings and big boxed lords sitting on lards of lush and luxury
Delivering to the mouths and blistering our hearts
And keeping the steel wall closed from ourselves - we become the consuming  generation

Airdropped from to the earth from a contained hedonistic lair.
We grow in every way and grow through every day
Listen...
Look...

Feel.

Can you digest what you see?
Can you see, the cruelty painfully pushed as a casualty
Covered like up like a felony
Treated like no biggie
Thee eyes no nothing of what they see
Their story is morphed

And no one wants the truth

So we sit in silence

Until the world sees what I see - justice
End animal cruelty. I'm vegan and I support this lifestyle - it's the best choice I've ever made and I hope you will open yourselves to new possibilities

Sometimes I meet,
With art so sweet,
It almost turns me vegan,
A piece of meat,
Could not compete,
With a painting done by Tegan.

Sometimes it seems,
She paints my dreams,
Or as close as anyone can,
If I had to choose,
Between this or *****,
I'd be a sober man.

I'd feel such grief,
With no relief,
If she chose to give up paintin'
And I'd fill the hole,
Inside my soul,
With whiskey and with bacon.
A wonderful friend of mine, who's also an amazing artist, sent me an amazing painting she created of a purple griffin-winged, ram-horned dragon befriending a mouse. Mice are OK, but I really, REALLY love dragons (don't give me that look - dragons are cool, OK?) and her artwork is truly exceptional.

I'd forgot that I'd even written this until recently when I stumbled back across an old video I made as she was many, many miles away at the time, and I wanted her to know how excited I was about it. I still am quite excited about it to be honest - it's a freakin' DRAGON!!!

agricultural sabotage remains incoherent,
not that it’s a secret that moneys evil.
Rio+20 on the health of our planet,
ignore the ******* thing that's causing the most damage.

you're all *******, it's a miss not a hit.
Forget shorter showers and the flick of a switch.
Transportation is not the only problem.
whats the biggest ******* industry
causing global warming?
The UN doesn’t even ******* know.
When they served up beef, I thought it was a sick joke
Smoke and mirrors, gas and granite
The meat industry is killing our planet

And as humans, we tend to digress.
Makes sense how we all eat things we cannot digest.
you smiling? who do think you're hiding from?
You still believe in fairy tales and I'm the one,
who's dumb
Because I actually give a ****, with an open third eye I can see the grit.
The pain, the torture that we inflict, then ironically endure when we swallow that ****
watch cowspiracy. go vegan.

It baffles me how
Many who preach
Pro-life choose
To eat a ham sandwich
For lunch,
Or buy a "pet"
From a *******,
Thus taking a
Life from the shelter.

Then there are those sad clowns
Who think it's funny to say
"Yum, bacon!" when you expose the
Torture and bloodshed
Of some poor animal
Produced for food.

And, we mustn't forget
The good ol’ “humane" farmers
Who raise trusting animals
From birth only to
Hang them up, slit their throats, and
Slowly bleed them out to
Turn
A
Profit.

How can we be so disconnected?
How do we not see the
Magic in every fetus?
The wondrous exchange of
Seed to soil - just as humans -
Creating a precious being
Who also deserves a life
Of liberty and justice?

Whether two legs or four,
Wings or extremities,
Fur or skin, fins or scales,
How can we not see their
Inherent worth?

Such dire disconnect!

We were created the same
Dear human and non-human
Animal friends, out of
Magic and dreams.
We both hunger and thirst,
Bleed and seek shelter, cry out
In pain, shiver in the cold,
Fear, and fight for survival.

We all begin by breathing in Life,
And we shall all leave this earth with
One
Final
Breath.
How is that not proof of our connectedness?
