I love days like this
late day sunshine, early summer bliss.
The magnolia smells of home,
no matter how displaced
June breeze, calm and playful
your hand on my bare waist.

Sometimes I stare out beyond what I can see
and wonder who else has been.
Ancient southern trees
covered in spanish moss where leaves grow thin.
The night approaches
a lone rider with no name
the cover of darkness imposed
and fashions mystery just the same.

Growing restless in the thickness of heat
solstice tastes like sugar and a hidden moon
something mindless and indistinct.
Burning for as long as an eye can blink,
gentle little light of beetle make the way
know it could lead me somewhere far, far off
but here, I so wish to stay.

There once was a munchkin from Oz
Named Phineas Entwhistle Boz:
     The Lollipop Guild
     Had Phineas killed:
Their reason, they said, was becoz.

The words you write, you're going blind,
You hide away, leave light behind.
Your world’s gone dull, it lacks a shine,
How much of truth will you define?

You beg for answers from above,
But guilt is not what gods are made of.
You did it all, don’t mask, don’t fake —
Refuse the lie, or let it break.

Be kind, be bold, begin to see,
The mirror’s cracked — the fault is me.
You bury night to chase the time,
But still the sun will rise at nine.

You found the page but lost the pen,
You try to start and stop again.
You call it luck, you hope it shows,
But talent hides where no one knows.

You write, you dream, you paint her face,
But words won’t earn a lover’s grace.
No rhyme can pull her into crime,
No line can cross that sacred line.

Still here you stand, a voice confined,
A life half-lived, a heart resigned.
Inside this shell, thoughts twist and wind —
This is your cursed poet’s mind.
What a ****** up mind.
You’ve given me grief, you’ve given me pain
You’ve made me meek, you’ve made me vain
I should hate you, should crave ****** revenge
It’s insane that I miss you to no end.

Youve screamed and yelled and made me forget
My dreams and wills, the futures I’ve set
I’m finally free yet now I still ship
Notes over seas that I bet you just skip.

It’s not only me that you’ve given pain to
Lots of my loved ones you’ve also made blue.
It makes it much worse to me that I still
Love you this much against my own will.
This is an older one

In this funny ol’ thing we call life,
the world is full of hatred and strife.
Wars are waged, and tears are shed,
at the very same time that people are wed.

We flick between channels of misery and hope,
turning our brains off just so we can cope.
“Why should we change? We only will suffer!”
Don’t think of the ones for whom it is rougher.

So much changes, but some things remain,
peace and joy will always come with pain.
‘What is a human?’ I begin to wonder,
as the rain pours down and it begins to thunder.

Perhaps we are destined to suffer alone,
but at the end of the day, we are just blood and bone.
We stand, balancing hope on the edge of a knife,
in this funny ol’ thing that we call life.

unfamiliar introspection,
mirrored; who do I see?
ev'ry day a strange reflection,
staring right back at me.

who I once was; lost. gone. erased,
could it be better this way,
or a greater man now displaced?
only friends could now say.

my friends I have since abandoned,
this is for their own sake,
they wouldn't understand and,
to tell, is a mistake.
