Diapers and politicians
need to be changed frequently
and for the same reasons

********

los panales y los politicos
hay que cambiarles a menudo
y por los mismos motivos
Julie Grenness Aug 2016
Here, there is a surfeit of Spam,
Fed to us by government man,
Democracy's harrowing tale,
Setting us up to fail,
Pollies' synchronised team,
Is all this what it seems?
Total cant and hypocrisy,
A merit myth of futility,
Spam surfeit, no caring beyond duty.......
A bit cynical, any chance of job creation for the young? Feedback welcome.

Feeling like an abandoned church but in your eyes I’ll always be a cathedral.
These blue skies fade to grey while I pray to ease the burden of a bad day.
My strength and happiness are gone; I can feel myself gradually fading away.
Not even Mandela money could buy me freedom in a dollar-based economy.
In a world saturated with poverty, politicians are still protecting their pockets.
They are constantly making you think that the power is in your hands but this is not a Cell C ad.
So be careful of who you give your power to because you may never see this freedom they highly speak of.
Everyone is claiming that they represent the youth but you can go back and listen to Ghetto Gospel and hear the truth.
Even with the humour of an established comedian, they wouldn’t be Trevor Noah funny.
Laughing all the way to the bank, we also aim to receive Trevor Noah money.
Give me all the best and worst parts of you and a room with a wonderful view.
Give me a blank page and a beautiful muse and you’ll marvel at what I can do.
The world is my canvas; Picasso would’ve loved to see all the resplendent pictures that I’ve painted.
I wrote plenty peaceful poems picturing politicians perpetuating poverty.
No uncertainty, this is a cold war and we all know what we’re fighting for.
In a world saturated with poverty, politicians are still protecting their pockets.
Blue skies fade to grey while I pray to ease the burden of a bad day.
Hopefully everything will be okay even if things don’t go our way.
Are all politicians fools,
Do they listen to what they say?
There mouths yell, "Halt, stop that spending!"
While their hands sign the check and their eyes look away.

Do all their body parts work together?
Do they function as a living human being?
Or are they controlled by another
Like a puppet being pulled by its' strings?

Can there be any logic in their thinking?
Can there be any truth in their words?
The two play like Muzak with no harmony,
Like a piano being played on broken chords.

Do they live, eat and breathe like all others?
Do they laugh, cry and worry like most do?
Or do they just send your loved ones into battle
Without a thought of what their death does to you?

So I ask you to judge for yourself.
Take so seriously these four words I say.
Are all politicians fools?
Can we trust them to lead the way?

If there is an answer that addresses the issues,
That doesn't avoid topics as one might the plague,
Then by all means step forward, come hither,
Show us all what discovery you've made.

I truly think they're all fools these politicians
And it saddens me much just to say,
So for now I'll follow Scarlet's advice,
"After all, tomorrow is another day."

As I mature
I'm getting so much better
at distinguishing
between the inspired ideas
and the drug-induced ones.

If only politicians could do the same.
recently
after every massacre
by some fanaticized pathological idiots
politicians call upon their citizens
to come together
and pray for the murdered and their families

this is absolutely appropriate

but it seems
that ever since 9/11
the nation only comes together
AFTER more of its members have been killed

I wish very much
that the nation
   AND politicians
would come together
BEFORE  the next massacre
and take appropriate action
to prevents such disasters
in the first place

Forever wishing I could sit
Upon a throne of dishonest truths
And write for gods not yet approved
Of the disastrous state of our planet.
For heathens and heavens alike in aim
Yet night and day in strategy
For sleepless nights and pointless fights
As one works endlessly to rule all.
And we sit back and believe *******
Spewed from their business tongues
To be swallowed by the uneducated youth
I take back my earlier statement.
Never would I wish to be a cold-blooded superior
Lies keep their hefty egos afloat just long enough
For the public to believe their craziness
And to elect them to power.
who are you voting for?
Julie Grenness May 2016
Heading for the next election,
Votes vied for by vicarious politicians,
Who are we all voting for?
Is it for their superannuation? Or,
Streamlining services to sway us,
Does Oz really needs such fuss?
We're walking on the winning side,
Let's have some more Hi-fives!
Debates due no direction,
Teen brain selfie obsessions,
These are our politicians,
It's a short, amusing ride,
Someone pass vicarious pesticide!!!
FEEDBACK WELCOME!

I can't believe what i'm seeing
It doesn't keep my being fed
I see our freedoms fleeing
Now I am seeing red

When we won't even stand up
How will we ever rise?
We all need to man up
And see through all their lies

If seeing is truly believing
Then I believe we are eating tread
With all of our freedoms leaving
And now I am seeing red
Julie Grenness May 2016
Yes, in Oz they've called an election,
PR on media heading in our direction,
Bland and blander for our selection,
Do they sell their souls for superannuation?
Politicians are deemed to be public servants,
By the plebs, for the plebs, now observant,
For the benefit of the plebs, in Australia,'
Is being forced to vote a failure?
No such thing as a Western Liberal Democracy,
Prepare for BS for you and me,
Largely unfundable policies,
Today is day one of Garbology!
Feedback welcome! Do I sound cynical or what?
