Living life is like a masquerade
where we only ever see the masks
of people

I hide only because I'm scared
but still, I do want to be seen.
I place my mask on my heart
my face fresh, imperfect and
meek

I bear my heart with my hand
Please try to forget my mask
and see my true soul...

I  had dreams of one day being a major celebrity, but I realised that there are things that are just not worth it.
You want to know what I want to be in my life?
All I want to be is human...
The good and bad...
That's all.
I bear my heart with my hand...
Thank you everyone!
I'll read through as many messages as I can, there's so many but I am truly humbled by your support!
Much love,

Spellbinding sparkling queues of pearly faces
Seethe in a gemstone sea of lips and beaks.
Veiling night, my Nirvana, leads us places
Fraught with clandestine lies and feathered peaks.
The hidden eyes reflect the burning light
Rampant within the painful lifelong dance
And swivel southward, scorched with silent fright;
Parades of fiends swing by at ev'ry glance.
Burn the voiceless witches! Condemn the dead!
Slash the hopeless visages to the night!
Raccoons, exposing drooling mouths unfed--
Charming music conceals their true delight.
I, the regisseur, perform my role
Then fade behind the mask that chokes my soul.

Here I am
but
am I here

Short poem! ^-^
I'm so psyched to see Winter's Queen trending, thank you so much!
I'll be back later with another free-verse!
Much love,

A request to your masquerade
But it seems I’m the only one
invited to your parade
A physical mask hides your features,
an intangible one hides your demeanor
Compliments were exchanged,
A hand on my waist,
and another
interlocked in mine.
We danced together on the marble tiles,
twirling around in sync to the Waltz
It wasn’t long before I wondered
if what was said was truly meant at all.
We bid our farewells
as the night came to an end
The finale of the ball
brought up a question thereupon,
Had I fallen for you,
or the masquerade you had kept on?
we’re no longer in love but you’re still fun to write about

We’re dancing on the edge
Between friends and more than friends.

Don’t come any closer,
My mask is on tight.
I know who you are,
But we’re strangers tonight.

No I don’t love you,
I couldn’t if I tried.
And I would never dare,
With the way you almost died.

Blood on the ground,
But we’re feeling fine.
When you take my hands,
We slow dance on the line.

We’re dancing on the edge
Between friends and more than friends.

Don’t say anything,
Some things are best unsaid.
Like what we really are,
If we’re really more than friends.

No I don’t love you,
I couldn’t if I tried.
And I would never dare,
With the way I almost died.

Time is running out,
But we’ll make it out, perchance.
The night is almost over,
But let’s stay for one more dance.

We’re dancing on the edge
Between friends and more than friends.
Our balance is maintained,
At this tightrope masquerade.
The darkness behind our eyes
Malice within our souls
The rebellion our menace
The prison we locked ourselves in
A cage we built to trap our wild hearts
Treading the fine line between
Normalcy and psychopathy
Vengeance, violence and brutality
All that we've masked in our grace
Hiding beneath our placid demeanor
Gentle breaths tender caresses
Soft lips whispering sweet nothings
Our words carefully scripted
Depicting a picture of purity and perfection
False sincerity reaching out to others
Only to burn all that we lay our hands upon
Malingering through days
Sugar laced actions and innocent smiles
Life is but a masquerade
As we dance or days away
The name "Leila" means beauty and darkness of the night..
