Why must grief return in waves?
I can only hope,
It feels safe housed in me.
I'm just a poet/hj
Liz Alvarez Caba Aug 2021
I'm getting married soon
But as my melancholic mind would have see it,
I still sought to seek out the hidden gems I blindly ignored;
When you were part of a piece of a paragraph in a long
neglected yet beautiful chapter of my life.
In an attempt to expose the very nature of my soul and body,
you saw my distress and healed me back to a semi-moderate stable condition of what was once my self.
On long drives, we sang loudly, and unfortunately proudly, about our tragic love life before we were to discover our secret affair within each other.
Desperately seeking answers, we found comfort in the solitude amongst ourselves.
In one of many drives, you even flashed your *** onto confused on lookers, which would be the main topic on our relationship.
No, not your ***, but exposure.
We exposed our souls to each other, mentally and very physically.
Trusting and knowing we would know what's to come was somehow comforting.
The end was nearing but we sure did cherish those precious moments, didn't we?
Closing the tiny paragraph you are now part of in my chapter,
it has lead me to one of the biggest events events in my life.
As the day gets closer, I recollect the times where my heart barely breathed any ounce of life I had once.
You gave me the force of life back into my desolate self and my soon to be husband is forever grateful.
Each piece of what was, prowls every now and then
But that's the human in us; We travel back in time just to observe and adore.

So......let's move along, reminisce, and once in a while, hold dear to our past selves.
And I for one, am a time traveler at times..~

She lives amongst the stars
Thoughts are galaxies away
It’s safe up there so they say

Eyes like shooting stars
Fly across her sky
Glances of belittlement, pity, judgement
Soar fast across her sky

Silently dimming their twinkling lights
Mindless carefree flowing  thoughts
The ones they say her galaxies are made off
Are laced with unseen meteors of doubt, uncertainty, worry…
Meteors that leave craters as big as the moon
In her “perfect” galaxy

Sleep is blurred by the constellations of anxiety
Her favorite ones are imperfection, failure, loneliness
Beautifully woven, tangled and outlined
Family.. friends…. lovers…
Intertwine and form the lines - connecting
These celestial masterpieces.

The stars in her wide brown eyes never dim
Shinning bright,  giving off an aura of warmth and light.
They see a girl- a daydreamer
As Orion’s belt wraps around her waist tight.
Binding her to this utopia they say she created.

Head in the clouds girl
Oh how I want to be you  … they say
To inhabit this wonderfully created planet you live in
Called  La la land

Visit if you dare she says…
Appearances can be misleading. We are carrying our own burdens so choose kindness when you can. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Finite Minds, Infinite Confusions
Love in the air, hearts in the hands
Great Ideals, little perversions
Vegan dreams, fishy cravings

Land full of dreams & plants
Mind full of ideas & ****** dreams
A place to grow at a pace so slow
To be or not to be ? O'lonely dreamer
My first impressions upon arriving a place called Auroville in India.

My aunt used to live in Paris
I remember, she used to come home and tell us these stories about being abroad
And I remember she told us that she jumped into the river once, barefoot

She smiled

Leapt, without looking
And tumbled into the Seine
The water was freezing
She spent a month sneezing
But said she would do it again

Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we make

She captured a feeling
Sky with no ceiling
The sunset inside a frame

She lived in her liquor
And died with a flicker
I'll always remember the flame

Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we make

She told me
"A bit of madness is key
To give us new colors to see
Who knows where it will lead us?
And that's why they need us"

So bring on the rebels
The ripples from pebbles
The painters, and poets, and plays

And here's to the fools who dream
Crazy as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that break
Here's to the mess we make

I trace it all back to then
Her, and the snow, and the Seine
Smiling through it
She said she'd do it again
lala lands Fools who dream

Guys this movie has changed my life! It is so magical wonderful and just enchanting!

City of stars
Are you shining just for me?
City of stars
There's so much that I can't see
Who knows?
I felt it from the first embrace I shared with you

That now our dreams
They've finally come true

City of stars
Just one thing everybody wants
There in the bars
And through the smokescreen of the crowded restaurants
It's love
Yes, all we're looking for is love from someone else

A rush

A glance

A touch

A dance

A look in somebody's eyes
To light up the skies
To open the world and send it reeling
A voice that says, I'll be here
And you'll be alright

I don't care if I know
Just where I will go
'Cause all that I need is this crazy feeling
A rat-tat-tat on my heart

Think I want it to stay

City of stars
Are you shining just for me?
City of stars

You never shined so brightly
la la land's city of stars

Dance with my soul.
Otherwise, it has no further role.

See morning rolls around,
and brings another April snow day

This sleepy town stirs
on white streets under a white sky
And the only lights that shine
are the ones in traffic--
red and yellow watercolor
on the windshield.
We get home, the lights are down.
We lie in bed under the blankets
and dream of spring...
In barrooms across town
others gather ballads and sing.

Drive these roads
See for yourself the sky
flat, where meets it the earth
and the stars glimmering cold
And Polaris promises to bring you home
Even if they let you down,
you'll rise up off the ground
when you hear morning sound,
maybe it’ll bring one more day of sun.
National Poetry Month Day 22. Heavily inspired by "Another Day of Sun" from LaLa Land.

There's nothing wrong with la la land,
But,
For me,
It is a reminder that there just aren't movies like that,
For me,
That display my love,
Accurately.

I don't get,
Musicals,

Or duets,
Or colorful sets,

I don't get pretty dresses,
Twirling in an over head shot,

I get over sexualized,
And movies,
That are not,
Actually,
For me.
