Two souls, strangers yet familiar, cross paths in a fleeting moment—an unplanned glance in a bustling city. The air hums with a silent melody, an unspoken promise carried in a whispering breeze.

They collide in the rhythm of a passing crowd, their first words exchanged over an old, torn book at a café. She loves stories, he loves the way she tells them. Laughing, they fill the space between them with warmth, letting their hearts confess before their minds catch up.

But love, like an inked page, does not always follow the lines we expect.
A fleeting glance, a moment unnamed… the start of something we could never claim.

He smiled like it was the last time,
And I knew it, though I didn’t ask why—
The air between us shifted,
Unspoken, like a secret the sky keeps,
Just for a moment, before it fades into silence.

His words lingered like a whisper caught in the wind,
Unspoken yet understood.
We were two fragments of something infinite,
Touching only briefly before slipping through the cracks of what could have been,
But in that brief pause, everything felt complete.

saw this cute girl the other day…
while smoking a cigarette at my balcony:
i was hovering over the pathway
she’d eventually cross,
like an apparition watching over
her resplendent ignorance.

she eventually did -
the cigarette, having not been ****** on
for a while, drooped flaccidly
between my fingers;
i flicked the bud:
the ashes drifted away with the wind,
like confetti -
in the same direction she walked off
below -
as i watched from above.

She struck me
out of the blue,
the way that most beautiful songs
find you.
It plays out of nowhere,
normally when you're out and about—
one foot out the door,
slipping through the holes
of a random speaker.
Before I knew, I was nodding
my head.
It's already full of things
that don't matter.
My head and the thoughts
That go through it.
Her voice cuts through all of that,
a song you want to know the name of,
so you can hear it again—
one that you hope doesn't end too soon,
but still delicate enough to not
notice when she tips away.
She's a song,
a uniquely beautiful woman
that you notice before she walks
away.

There's not enough in the world
that makes sense.
She pulls me in and confesses
that she's just like me—
the way that most beautiful songs do.
I knew that I would chase her
before she walked away.

How could I ignore the signs
Everyone drooling at the sight of you
Rushing to follow you
Barely believing you’d choose me
Instead wishing it was them
Excited to wake up to your name

But you were the first to
Really look at me like that
Only to drop me in a second
Killing me with flirty remarks
Every time you saw me

Maybe I was naive but
Everything seemed right with you

blades of grass gather
the wind

cattails sing
of shallow rain
tremors of dragons
litter the sunlight

some carry tears
others cry away
a curl of absence
embroiled with relief
