Type Writers
Shaun Copple May 28
Typewriters click and clack,
Like thoughts in conflict–
Undecided actions at war.

Spooling paper around
And around, repeating
The journey to completion.

Inky words wet with residue,
Smudged–impossible now
To comprehend the path.

Liquid correction fluid–
Application and verification,
Can fix any inaccuracy.

This is a digital realm.
Who does what these days, anyway?

Bloom
Shaun Copple May 4
Butterfly cocoon made of stone
Time flows impossibly slow
Cracks in the granite implode
Raise the stakes of escape

Straitjacket buckled up tight
Breath becoming sharp
Dread is heavy in the gut
But dreams light as a feather

Expanse awakens within
Oceans of being and doing
Subterranean planetary reptilian
Floating inward on a ship

Flotilla of masks abandoned
Level after level plummets
Deep in the magma where it's hot
Discover Earth's molten truth

Life is older than thought
Cyclical journey neverends
Photosynthesis fragment
Chrysalis individuals choose to bloom.
Everything is blooming but us

Cherry & Plum
Shaun Copple Apr 16
Springtime frost confronts apricot blossom—
Destroyed, damaged, and disappointed—
Leaves the garden to rely on cherry and plum.
Disappointed again this year.

OKAY CYCLE
Shaun Copple Mar 19
You're having another meltdown.
It's ok.
You're having another nervous twitch.
It's ok.
Your nerves are shot so much—
Your heart has gone to the moon.

Back in the living room, laying down.
It's ok.
You're breathing in and breathing out.
It's ok.
Your chest is rising with a sense of calm.
Your nerves are returning to the launchpad.

In the tumble dryer cycle of life, again.
It's ok.
Your mind has looped itself around my leg.
It's ok.
As much as I pull, I can't get out.
You're ******* my soul, little pig.

Flowing with the surf of 6 feet waves.
You're ok.
Your little boat—capsize is impossible.
You're ok.
My seat next to you was made in heaven.
Pushing and pulling we float to the sun.

Worn out from this endless sea of crises.
It's ok.
You're in this with me, there is no escape.
You're ok.
We will survive, partners for life.
We will discover the peace within us.
We're ok.
OK is never far away.

The Churn
Shaun Copple Mar 12
Churning like fresh milk,
my stomach feels the choice.
Two turns in equal state,
the cat inside the box meows.
First, there is Status Quo—
Doing nothing is still one choice.
Second, there is transformation—
Doing more and being another.
Cycles of choice and change,
repeating forever and ever.
A nursery rhyme princess
shrieks my name, dreamlike.
Help is available.

Breakthru
Shaun Copple Mar 7
Strangled by my consciousness
again
Burgeoning like some humanoid
butterfly
Emergency, emergency, escape the
cocoon
Strapped in the long haul
transformation
Painful arms and legs pulling
apart
To be continued.
