I close my curtains once the sun comes up
I ignore the light and keep myself closed off.
I'm sick of the brightness when I'm in such
a dark place
Does no one understand, they should go away?
The darkness is soothing, but also leaves me
with a wanting; some special kind of craving
it nags at me even when I'm safely sleeping
Which should be a place where it leaves me
but sadly there is no such place
**It always finds me.

~

where clear blue sky meets water's deep
his sunbeams reach her waves to tease,
to warm her currents, foaming spray;
dawn to dusk when daylight fades,
till only afterglow remains,
an interlude of celestial stage.

he speaks to her on written sky
and in the mournful sea-bird's cry,
wraps sultry ribbons in her tresses,
his fingers linger in caresses,
and in soothing choreography
he gently stirs her ocean's breeze.

he sends her gifts of palm and dates,
wrapped on waves in salty sprays;
watches her with much delight,
he sings to her each eventide,
love songs with the calling gull,
and rocks her tween the gusts and lulls.

wedded at horizon’s edge,
devotion to her he has pledged,
to have forever and to hold,
his comfort to her storm-tossed soul;
his tender kiss on tear-stained cheek,
where clear blue sky meets water's deep.

~

post script.

when one gazes
into the vastness
of sea and sky,
of what is from
height to depth
an endless blue,
one cannot but think
of eternal devotion,
of the relationship
between two who have
pledged their forever troth!

as i wonder from what recesses
this one came, i remember…
our 36th wedding anniversary
is fast approaching...
i’ve been thinking of what to gift her
that will make her cry anew.

**thank you to Hello Poetry for
the tremendous honor bestowed
with their designation of this poem as the daily
and to all who have expressed their heartfelt
love and appreciation... your message
came through loud and clear...
there can be no denying it,
i am an incredibly blessed man
because of each of you!
thank you, truly,
from the bottom of my heart!

Crush make us smile
Crush make us laugh about funny thing he did
Crush make us go crazy
Crush make our guts go butterflies
Crush make us thinking about our own
Crush make us loving them more
Crush make us try to catch their attention
Crush make us feel hurt
Crush make us hate them
Crush make us desperate to get them
Crush make our mind exploded
That's what they do

But  careful of what you wishing for
Today is the day,
you marry your beloved,
forever begins.
I wrote this haiku in honor of my best friend marrying her best friend. Congratulations, Sara and Aamir. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!

am i ee
morning hike
face full of spider webs

box turtle wanders slowly
through rain drops clinging
to parched earth and plant

puppy tongue laps
creek water
quenching thirst

tiny fish dart to and fro
frog leaps
with a big splash

rivers flow through the garden
you hear the sound of gregarious laughter
we are laughing
our hearts pounding to the same electric beat
we are buzzing

the sky is free from clouds
you see us fly
we are flying
along the tallest mountains
until we see cloud nine
and rest on it for a while

all of us see the rivers speeding
speeding toward the edge
where they cascade down the waterfall
we realise the cloud we sit on
is made of air, and the happiness it gives us
is only temporary

as we plummet
we hit the ground, hard
all laughter and joy is gone

we wake up, the same place we were
on the cold concrete floor
underneath the bridge
where our journey began

we look at each other
we're drunk and broke
and as we inhale that toxic smoke
we return to the garden.
You are convinced
You've made your escape
As far away from midnight you can get
Continuing on and on
In the hopes that you can hide from the inevitable
You can't stop time
Avoiding the reality is an insatiable quest
The more you try to escape it
The more you will become lost
Unable to find your way back
To yourself
The darkness will come and it's unavoidable
Stop running and let it happen
The more you fight it
The more people are going to get hurt
You've gotta stop to let yourself heal
Move on
The road you took led you here
Accept that
And quit punishing yourself
