Out of my depth,
Swimming in the shallows.

Dragging my feet,
Hiding in the shadows.

Swallowed up in darkness,
Cloaked against the light.

Emptiness surrounding me,
I'll fight with all my might.

Tears I have cried,
a shrinking violet I've become.

Awaken my soul,
To try to overcome.

Clawing back at life,
I will conquer I will rise.

Like a phoenix in the ashes,
Expanding to the skies.

She cries at night as she tries to sleep                     c. 6.13.14 J.Ray
A victim of the life she tries to keep
She lives her life inside her own mind
She looks for the things she cannot find
Trapped inside, she just lost her way
She is someone new each and every day
Takes meds today, so tomorrow she’s fine
But the Doctor says that she’s Borderline
Silence the quiet whispers and deny all your pain
The voices in your head have all come back again
The doctors and the nurses say that you’re insane
We can make her better they always seem to claim
But we know better ‘cause they’re the one to blame
Sleeping so well now and the time sure flies
When your mind goes away a part of me dies
Nothing but finest pills the nurses will bring
Effects can **** you but you won’t feel a thing
She’s here today, so tomorrow she’s fine
But the Doctor says she’s just Borderline
Thanks for reading and as always comments and critique are always appreciated!

you could drown me in
a sea of hungry sharks
or feed me to the menacing
crocs in the parks

you could smoke me like
your last cigarette
or down me like
your last alcohol bet

you could grind my bones
and play with the  shards
then mould them up again,
into clean white cards

with those white cards
you shuffle me away and tell me
"shoo"

but my heart will still,
no  matter what,
run back to you.
wrote this high as hell im sorry

I touched the stone
On the statue
And it melted into
Drops of milk and vanilla
A year gone by
And a new river flows
With bone and sugar and ash
The dewlets accumulated
From what once was
Stone.
she forgives the notion
that her photographs are images
to her they are epic tales
to her they are living creatures with lives of their own
they speak to her
worlds full of life and motion
they jump up and get personal with you
still life breathing in motion implied
a girl with dreadlocks moving against the
trees in background
you can sense her laughter
you can feel the warmth of the sunshine
taste her sweat and perfume
epic tales to be told silently to your eyes
beautiful thoughts captured still life
growing in the heart
taste of her dreadlock beauty's hand
(we have co-authored a book of poems and photographs...it is currently sitting on an editors desk...has been for four months)

the nights i lay awake
far past the hour society has began to sleep
i imagine the look on her face
when you first brought her to your room.
when she first saw my name carved to your bed frame
how'd that conversation carry?
did it weigh down the air in the room
forming a burden on your back,
how'd it end?
did you tell her you fell out of love with me,
did you lie and say “i didn’t write that.”
did it make you miss me,
did your heart drop to your stomach at the thought of
love once lost and did
your head ache with the thought i could move on,
i know it did.
you were driven crazy past the title of insecurity
to the point of hiding how you felt, now
you're a blur. but i could still
rewrite your atoms better than any
fragment of the bible, and every 9th day of every month
i look for you, for what you were.
the scar on my left arm from your cigarette burn
tells more stories than any novel ever could.
the letters you wrote me, did she see those too?
and tell me, what raced through your mind.
was it her?
these are the things i’d like to ask you, but
yes i’m guilty of letting fear stop me.
the fear of those five words that could stop a heart beat
and implode a building,
that could tear open the scars on my heart and
run my mind straight into the brick wall i’m staring at,
“i don’t love you anymore”

All i can see is black and white
Tried to get up on my knees and fight
Searching for a ray of light
Before i completely lose my sight

All I know is that I keep on running
It was a long long road of dreaming
       But something inside my head
                        is screaming
That maybe I should stop hiding

I took another step and then
                   the light comes in
Maybe It's not too late for me begin
              I'll face every battle and
                     i'm sure i'll win
        Because althroughout, to Him,
                          I will lean.
There are times that we feel lost. We dont know ourselves. We keep on searching for things we dont know. Our world seems empty, no color, just black and white. That's the time we look up on Him. And He will show us the light. He'll give us courage to face anyone or anything :)
