The Dragon

Shiv-man
I try to reach to the top but every time i fail
Yet I try over and over again
because every climb brings me closer to my aim.

I wish to reach the summit- as do my fellow mates,
Some of them are strangers
but some of them I know
But in the end you have to climb all alone.

Every climb I learn something new,
Every climb breaks my spirit
but every climbs gets me closer
to The Dragon on the summit.

After countless tries I reach that peak yearned by all
and I see the white Dragon standing tall

The lustrous snow blinds my eyes
and I feel the cold winds blow
through clear blue skies

The dragon stares right into my eyes
and I see that this world is just a web of lies

All these falls and climb were just fiction
and my real self was far beyond the horizon

He shoots a wall of fire at me
that is the last thing I see

It burns my eyes
              my heart
                  my thought
             my soul

I am just ash.
Ash that cannot be burnt again,
Ash that flies in the skies,
Ash that flows with the rivers,
Ash that is free-
**Forever
The poem is inspired by the hindu/budhist concept of 'moksha'
It is liberation from endless cycle of birth-death and the suffering which comes with it.
It is knowing who you truly are
It is escaping the Matrix forever

Tangled Roots

I lull the salt
and the rain
with the company of
sour visitors
perpetual silence
stabbing me in
my palms
I strung it together
with thin white exhales
In the morning
I become tangled
apologetic veins
a rib cage and
a buoy, white endless
silence
tangled at the root.
Coming down with something
     blame summer
point a finger at the city
worn-down pizzazz
     drunk trumpets
and I hide in my coat

trees look better without leaves
is it just me?
   see the sun bellow
   into buildings

student affairs
   like heat rash
bounce along hallways

foreign mumbo-jumbo
   mishpelt words

they say him met her
saw six pictures last night

I haven’t met me
   books know truth
not brunettes

good poetry
better than ***
they’re running running running away with it
between spritzers
   and sandwiches
   now snooze until Halloween
   brown back in fashion

    caught in the middle
    piedra de aguacate
I handle guitars
    they fiddle with women

now
   let apple juice trickle
from my lips
and a man gets out a taxi
    drops his phone
Written: July 2014.
Explanation: A poem written in my own time, another dealing with the 'city', in contrast to my ongoing beach/sea series. Quite different from my normal style of work, and expect more in the future veering towards this style. NOT based on real events, although partially inspired by them. 'Piedra de aguacate' is Spanish for 'avocado stone.' Feedback appreciated as always.

My heart has never been one piece;

I’ve left bits in places and people

for safekeeping or declaration.

So you didn’t break it.

You never even had the chance.

But don’t think for once second —

it didn’t hurt when you tore
a piece too big for yourself
and left my ****** heart half out my chest

Pushing Daisies
I sit and watch her bottom lip tremble,
And know that it's my fault.

The pieces that she can't assemble,
Are locked within the vault.

I sit and watch her eyes cloud over,
And have to look away,

She stills calls me her sunshine,
But I blind her with the rain.
She still calls me her sunshine,
Dispite the weathers change.

No direction, dressed in distress
suppressed by excess of regret
expected infection, hard to digest
a left mess that's best to forget

projected wreck is yet to accept
object of the reflected effect
where defective breath has wept
I rest in the echo of my neglect

i woke up with his arm around me
his heavy arm keeping me still
i saw the anchor on his skin
like he could nail me to the water
and i didn't even know how to swim
i was trapped under my drunken sailor
aboard his flaming cruise
his eyes that once loved me
relayed empty words that bruised
they filled my lungs with every breath
there's no room for me on his life boat
i'm just breathing in the water
as if suddenly i'd float
i don't even know if i made it
but if you're wondering, i probably didn't
you'll find my bones on the bottom of the ocean
next to the remnants of his ship

Our progression is swift-
Maybe a bit corrupt,
But more accepting.
Big dreams, slim chances.
Vagabonds at heart,
Risk-takers with mind dances.
We all wish to change the world-
So cliché, but more true now,
Than ever before.
Leaders… everyone being their own.
Preparing for change;
We will be anticipating
The best.
