You and I
under the sky
watching the stars
illuminate the water that surrounds us.
he holds me close
as I lay my head against his chest
my ears fill with sounds;
his heartbeat, the crash of the waves and seagulls’ laughter
the sand is soft beneath our bodies
creating a cushion for us
a blanket placed over us keeps us warm
as well as his body pressed against mine
he talks in a deep, soothing voice
rambling on about the random things in life
he talks about us and our future
he talks about his family and past
as well as why the world is what it is
I slowly slip into peaceful sleep
and as my eyes fall heavy and close shut,
he kisses my forehead and pulls me closer
and in an almost inaudible voice, he whispers
“Goodnight my love, sweet dreams”
as the stars shine bright around us,
guiding us in this complex journey we call love.

Isn't it funny
how you can see into a person’s life
from just one glance?
watching people
in their own little world
as they go through life’s set goal

Watching someone glance at their watch
immediately knowing
they are late
or seeing a person’s hand tighten against another’s
acknowledging that they are lovers,
completely and totally in love

Maybe witnessing an elderly woman
playing with a complete stranger of a little boy
instantly realizing,
her baby boy never grew up
but died at the age of 2;
she’s remembering him through this little boy

These are the little things in life
I have come to love,
seeing into people’s lives
through their insignificant gestures

People are so perplexing
and I would like to get to know each and every one of them
hear their stories
and be apart of their world
their own story,
their own little novel

Protect me from what I want
hold steadfast to my good side
save me from the insanity of depression
keep me from my darkest desires that I hide

Protect me from what I want
help me do what’s right
prevent me from hurting this body I’m in
save me from the fires of hell

Protect me from what I want
take my hand and tell me it’s ok
hold me close when I cry
banish my nightmares, tell them to go away

Protect me from what I want:
be careful what you wish for, they say.
I guess i should listen,
because what I wish for
may end up to be,
an irreversible mistake

the room is so dark
so dark i feel
I’m stuck
in a black hole
I can’t see anything
I’m groping in the dark
feeling my way around,
around all these obstacles
But I keep stumbling;
falling over chairs
bumping into tables
and smacking into invisible forces
I’m alone
with no one to guide me
no one to help me
through this never ending nightmare
Just as my hope has failed me
I see a bright light
the light cascades over the room
engulfing it in a gleaming, gold color
Now I see the room once dark
I now see the places I’ve been
I see the obstacle I have conquered
and know what could have been
now I follow the light
and stumble, no more

In my life
I have loved
and been loved
shed tears
and have lost hope

To love is to die
as, to hate is to care
We can love with all of our being;
mind, heart, body and soul
then we despise them for breaking our hearts

Love mesmerizes and transfixes us
it takes us captive
then lets go
leaving you there, alone
forgotten, weak, miserable

A life once filled with joy
now a sad, faint memory

This new found sadness
can **** with just one blow
knocking us off our feet,
disarranging our thoughts
and leaving us in despair

To love is to die
as innocence is to pain
you can’t have sunshine
without a little rain.

Out of the oblivion they crawled
Death’s voice beckoned and called
Out of the oblivion they stumbled
A mass of bewildered  people fumbled

Their eyes ablaze with fire
No one gave up or tired
The shepherd, a sign of hope
The shepherd, a reason to cope

Though Death had beckoned once more
The troops fought on with a battle-cry roar
Their swords held high
The shepherd led the goodbye

Death beckoned for the last time and took a mighty tole
The living left to grieve the poor souls
But the shepherd carried on
And led the troops as one

The battle finally ending
People needing care and mending
The shepherd told the troops to fight on
To never loose sight of the light and rage on!
