You

Sam Knaus
You
They say that human eyes
can hold galaxies,
constellations.
Maybe that explains why
every time I look into yours,
I feel infinite.
Like there’s no star
I couldn’t reach.

Natalie
do not date a girl
who writes.
she will internalize
everything,
carve poems
into your eyelashes
instead of
kissing them,

she will analyze you,
calculate age
from the rings
your coffee cup
leaves
instead of refilling it.

she will memorize
the way your
lips curl around steam,
but not that you
take it
two sugars,
no cream.

she will read your
palm instead of
holding it
against her chest.

she will not
blink
when you leave,
because she is
already
romanticizing it.
Never save someone
who doesn't want to be saved.
*Never.

Day
There are galaxies in my throat
all named after you.

Into
a body
 of water
  we fall
                                                                                                  Much
                                                                                               b i g g e r
                                                                                               than our
                                                                                                   own
                                        We
                                      fall in
                                   all shapes
                                    and sizes                        And
                                       carry                         with us
      The                                                        ideas that are
    fused                                                        together and
  make up                                                        what we
   are on a                                                           grand
    scheme                          Of
                                        things,
                                    we splatter
                                     and splash
                                      spreading
                                          what                                                  We
                                                                                                   carry
                                                                                               to become
                   One                                                                        within
              the bigger                                                                     body
          that we make                             Up
               what we                               were a
                  part                               of all along,
                                                            we are
                                                             drops
                              We
                           fall for                                                            An
                        eternity it                                                        feels
                       until finally                                                  we're at
                         the place                                                  we call home
                                                                                          in our ocean
                                                                                              at peace

I can not even begin to explain
how badly I want to spend my days
with raindrops trailing my windows
blank notebooks, and cigarettes
and my nights
with moonlit dances
and dark rooms illuminated by computer screens.
Raindrops are
falling, tears
benign, falling,
from a winter sky,
and the mass of
windswept clouds.
It is raining and raining. I hope the grass doesn't drown.

I've always hated winter
But the beauty of this snowfall
Made me love this winter wonderland
