i love the way i notice your smile when we're looking at the stars,
and the way you tilt your head down when you laugh.
i love every strand of hair that you think is too long.
i love when you get nervous and you don't know what to say,
and how you you stare into my eyes like you never want to look away.
i love the way you make me feel safe, and how you wrap your arms around my waist and whisper you love me.
i don't think you realize how much i love the small things you do, and i don't think you realize how miserable i am without you.
i love everything you hate about yourself
because i love you.
Written for the love of my life, Edward.

Though darkness now itself abounds
Many dreams can still be found
For every moment spent in sorrow
Possibilities ring full tomorrow
I may be a human being
Who also soars on golden wing
In a heart once filled with song
Fear can never last too long.

It was petty, really
what we had
but it was more than worth it
and you were more than worth it
and now you're totally gone
I came to that realization
when I noticed the flirty stares
and the nonexistent hellos you used to give
were as gone as you
and I don't know what to do

I wanted to say you guys wouldn't last
I know that was terrible of me
But I wanted it more than anything
I had this hope, that somehow, somewhere, it would happen
It hasn't been that long
but I don't want it to get any longer
and I know that it probably will
because you're "made for each other"
but what's the fun in being with someone predictable
you're a foreign country to me, and I want to explore
It's hard to hold in your feelings for someone who is easily expressing theirs.... to someone else

My children will have a childhood.
I will make sure of it.
They will swim in ponds littered with Lilly pads
Dive down to muddy depths like fearless fish.
Sink tiny toes into slick black mud.
They will thrash strong tanned legs
Toward the gleaming surface above.
And **** deep breaths of country air.

They will slumber beneath the stars
To the sounds of bullfrogs and singing crickets
And the frenzy of flickering fairies of the night.
They will use glass wands of glitter
Just as a magician might
To hammer
All at once the warm dry earth
Sending grasshoppers springing
In startled unison-
Like magic
To escape the alien vibrations.

They will run barefoot through fields.
Drag behind them a ******* beast named
Ballou or Bear- or something like it.
He who leaps on four legs
And licks with pink tongue.

They will dance to songs
They do not understand.
And fashion forts from fallen brushwood.
They will swing from high up branches
Only climbers of trees can reach.

They will discover an island of trees
Some sweltering summer day
As they wade through waist high
Green grass that breathes along
With the erratic waving of the wind.
They will claim it as their own.
They will name it Sail Away or- something like it.
And ***** a flapping flag of dishtowel and twig.

They will pull from backpacks
Granola bars and beef jerky
And gulp water from their base camp.
And return only when it is too dark
And they are too weary
To embark on any more adventures.
My children will have a childhood.
They will have one because I did.

She never lied, she never lies,
She just ignores.
The truth,
I tried to tell her how I feel,
She just ignored,
The proof.
"Then try to think of something else", she said.
"Write the other way"
Whenever she'd drink and rant like this,
I'd stay out of her way.
Because “real”, for her, seemed to signify,
I tried it once, but should probably try again.
I was real with you, that once,
Only, later,  to find
That those imploring me to "relax",
Insisting things would be different,
If only I could "flow", If only I could "see"...
You said, “be real”, and now the memory
Just turns my ******* stomach
Since all of those whose mantra called,
For a plea to just “be real”
Were the least capable, almost to the man,
Of being anything close to that.
Born in awareness of the shortcomings of humankind, this was a cynical piece of verse, just like the self-absorbed, whining humans it stands for.  It is an exercise in bad attitude and there is some shame in having created it.  It expresses things perfectly, though.  It is an irrational response to the inherent weaknesses of people who claim to care and the ungrateful reaction of those receiving any.

Poetic T
Time is a moment, lengthened
Stretched, but ever fluid,
Not stationary but ever moving
I formation of forth and back.

It is the crest upon a traveling
quantum consciousness,
We are here, behind, staring
At what is enviable.

Time is conscious thought,
That which we think later is
A thought happened in the
Past, weaving to the now
And remembered as If never
Knowing that we always had it.

We are a sting of moments,
Time is but a ticking clock, we
Are living are existence.
Past, present, future are a
locking mechanism of
Consciousness that we have
Yet in a infinite moment,
To properly unlock.
I don't know where this came from, but I liked it.

It’s kindness versus stupidity.
Good intentions beats censorship.
We don’t need repressive *******
To fight against insensitivity.
We just need information,
Intelligence, and the wisdom
To use it justly.

Authors moan of Writer’s Block:
They can’t unpick their inner lock.
A black expanse is all they see
Their rhymes are but a tragedy.

“The Block” is writers’ constipation,
A failure of imagination.
What laxative is there for this?
You feel like you’ve been sent to Dis.

Oh where did those ideas go?
That blank page fills them full of woe.
Play with words is what I say,
Then soon a poem is on its way.

Don’t try so hard is my advice:
Perfection can be such a vice.
Watch telly, films, anything you like,
And let your mind just take a hike.

Listen to music by all means,
Like you used to in your teens.
Watch the news, or take a stroll,
Drag yourself out of that hole.

Take a nap whenever you like,
Sleep will get you ready to strike.
Toy with words again I say:
Best inspiration springs from play.

There's

                 burning

            WATER

For the element challenge...
DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE, TO COME OUT AND ACT THE SAME.  YOU MAY EVEN NOTICE, WE DO NOT HAVE THE SAME NAME.
DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE, TO ACT THE WAY YOU DO.  THEY MAY HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP DIFFERENT, THEREFORE, THEY ARE NOT YOU.
DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE, TO DRESS THE WAY YOU DRESS.  THEY MAY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO WEAR IT THIS WAY, AND ANOTHER SAY, "WEAR IT LIKE THAT."
DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE, TO SPEAK IN A CERTAIN STYLE.  ONE MAY SPEAK IN A VERY LOW VOICE, AND ANOTHER MAY SPEAK REAL LOUD.

I hate that kid with all my heart.
Wish I could tear him apart.
But morals, values, all that ****,
are keeping me from doing it.
