I was crying in the dark,
Trying not to fall apart,
And where were you?
I needed your arms,
Keep me safe and warm,
But where were you?
You said you'd never go,
But you left me all alone,
And where were you?
Wrists and thighs bleeding,
My heart stopped beating,
But where were you?
I tried calling out,
But no one was around,
Cause where were you?

We live in a world
where sadness is the norm

We live in a world
where we romanticize the mentally ill

We live in a world
where we tell someone to save themselves
but tell ourselves the opposite

We live in a world
where we preach to others
how great life is
until we go home
and live it for ourselves

We live in a world
full of hypocrites
and inconsiderates

Why, just why, must we live in such a world?

I thought I could swallow my fear,
But I guess you could taste it in my kiss.
A little boy
Maybe a bit too old
Kissing a girl with a heart of gold
He tells her "nobody can know"
then he sees how far he can go

He tells her yes
When she says no

A little boy
Maybe a bit too old

Turning a girl's heart
Into stone.
I'm still new to this poetry business so please don't hate me. sorry.
