The room is empty,
The air is still,
Nothing but me,
My contempt.

It's cold,
Smooth,
Sharp,
Uncontrolled.

I turn the killer,
Over in my hands,
I turn the breaker,
The thriller.

I wrap my fingers,
Over the handle,
Open,
It lingers.

Fair skin,
No marks,
No scars,
This what would've been.

Press,
Glide,
Cut,
Regrets.

Drip drop,
Red,
Blood,
No stop.

Pain,
Mental,
Physical,
No gain.

Sharp breaths,
Gasps for air,
Bad thoughts,
Deaths.

Back to reality,
Realization,
Wounds now scars to come,
No morality.

The blade,
Not the killer,
The one who holds it
The killer betrayed.

Just one,
A single burning cut,
All this hurt,
What have I done?
A poem about cutting.

Shashank
black skirt climbing up her shining thighs…
she pulls it down and the excitement dies

from the men around her: “****, she’s fine!”
looking up from her phone- she’s next in line.

“may i see your id?” asks the giant,
she shows it to him- acting compliant.

female, black hair, brown eyes, twenty-one.
everything checks out- “stay safe, have fun.”

once she steps through those guarded doors,
she puts her pvc plastic back inside her michael kors.

no ‘x’ on her hand, but an ex on her mind-
she steps onto the dance floor and begins to grind.

many men manage to embrace her swaying hips,
bite her beautiful neck, and kiss her thirsty lips.

from their mouths flows a river of lies,
while hands below swim up sweating thighs.

she’s feeling ecstatic, but he wants more,
her “friends” watch as he carries her out the door.

to say “yes,” she’s in no position,
so he advances without a proposition.

the next morning when she wakes,
in funny places her body aches.

next to her he’s fast asleep,
her phone rings: bleep, bleep!

texts from her “friends” fill her screen-
things they typed, they did not mean.

“we’re worried…  where are you? text me the address!”
she gathers her things and pulls down her black dress.

tiptoeing through his apartment, she quietly closes the door.
she’s quiet in the car still, afraid of being called a “*****.”

when they asked her to come out that night, she said: “i don’t like partying anymore.”

He was the sun, and I was the moon.
Without him, I couldn't illume the night.
I took all the darkness, he had morning and noon,
Without each other, the world wasn't right.
He was the fire, and I was the ice.
He'd bring the chaos without thinking twice.
Whatever flesh he burns, I come to aid.
I touch him without ever being afraid.
He was the ground, and I was the sky.
Aware of each other, but turn a blind eye.
He gave me vapor, I gave him the weather;
It was our only way of being together.
He was the mass, and I was the space.
And without hesitation, in my life, he took place.
I let him consume me, I didn't mind, you see,
I was just happy that somebody needed me.
He was he, and I was me.
What a fool I've been to trust and believe
That we need each other, when the sad truth is,
All there has been for us, was to coexist.

I make my way to the window
It is this place where we meet
Full of excitement, light on my feet
I come here quite often
Waiting for her to arrive

My waiting ends when I see
Her walking, coming up to me
Separated by a window
We speak as we usually do
As inevitably as the sun sets
She turns to leave with the light

I make my way to the window
Summer ends, time doesn’t stop
But our meetings, I’d never swap
We still meet here separated
A window still stands between
All I want is to open the window
To rid what I am bounded by

I make my way to the window
Our meetings now, less frequent
I miss that heavenly sequence
I stand here hoping she’ll come around
I should’ve said how I truly feel
I should’ve yelled it from the window sill

I make my way to the window
She’s not coming anymore
With that thought I’m sure
With one last look I see her once more
I’ve longed for this moment
We are now as we were before
Nothing less nothing more
My feelings haven’t changed
But I think I’m content
Keeping the window shut for now
As inevitably as the moon rises
She leaves with the light

I still want to tell her
All I want is for her to know
But I’m happy here, for now
Morning comes again
I make my way to the window
