Wings
As I dance across the meadow,
I hear you call out
As I wade through the stream,
I see you catching trout

Although you may not know me,
I have seen you many a day
As through the fields I go,
Sometimes you watch me play

You sit comfortably
Inside your home
As I sit under a tree,
In my hand a large tome

I read the words aloud to you
Though you may not understand,
And in my voice you hear
The tides ebbing over sand

It makes you nostalgic,
Longing for warmer days,
Evenings spent darting
All through the heavy haze

You steal through the darkness
One with the night,
And I watch one last time,
As you take flight

You’ve kept me company
Through these long years
Now with you I’ll soar,
So dry your tears

Through the air you flit,
Welcoming wings lifting
My soul is free to fly with you,
Simply just existing
I really like birds, can you tell?
We all have a flame,
A small young spark,
Waiting to ignite,
Alone in the dark.

It watches and waits,
For someone to appear,
Who can take away,
It's worldly fear.

It's a small fear, really,
Of being extinguished.
But the heart refuses
To be diminished.

It slowly beats
Until it sees them.
A rising crescendo,
A sparkling gem.

The brain does back flips
The body shuts down
And all you want to do
Is take them down town.

A night they won't forget,
A face they'll always remember
Until the day
That flame becomes an ember
Maria Etre inspired me with her poem "Pyro". You guys should go check it out!

Life's True Fun
We toil all day
In the heat of the sun
Just for the night
For life's true fun

Dancing across
Meadows with glee
The cornfields whisper
"Sing to me"

So sing I do
Loud and clear
My voice proudly ringing
For nature to hear

The birds hear me
The crickets too
But I wish so hard
That the one who heard was you

I think back
To long summer nights
Dancing about
In the gentle moonlight

I miss you so
It's like a trance
Just longing
For one more dance

Barefoot in the meadows
Dancing quietly
Swaying side to side
Content that you're with me
I've come to realize that sometimes, the best time to sing and reflect is when nobody but nature is with you

Roar
A mighty roar
Shakes the Earth
Mother Nature
Has given birth

A new storm
Powerful and strong
Lightning like spears
Thunder like a gong

It ushers in an
Era of fear
The clouds keep coming
And the sun decided to dissapear
When you see the storm that you think will last forever, the storm that turns bright days into dark nights

It Was a Dream
A shining place
All a'gleam
Sadly, though
It was just a dream

A dark place
Undone at the seam
Thankfully, though
It was just a dream
Nightmares and daydreams are the inspiration for this poem

Sacrifice
It's a noble thing
Sacrifice
But for me
It's my only vice

People throw themselves
In harm's way
For people that might not
Live out the day

You might save their life
You could be a  martyr
Are you willing to risk it?
It's your life to barter

It's senseless to me
To risk your life
Only to die
And cause more strife

Reverence
They look in reverence
Upon my face
They think I'm a goddess
From an unknown race

I hide the truth
From all of them
I'm not here to save
But to condemn

I'm no angel
But they don't know
I've long since fallen
Far below

I see their sins
Plain as day
And when they die
They will pay
Far below lies a demon with the face of an angel...

Window
I stare out the window
Thinking of you
About all the things
We used to do

My reflection stares back
Somber and tired
Things drift in my head
That were once desired

I hear the rain
Pitter and patter
Thinking of things
That no longer matter

You aren't here
You're too far away
I wish you were by me
At least for today
For those who miss the ones they love

Whisper
A quiet murmur
A gentle breeze
A person weaves through a crowd
With grace and ease

A silent breath
A sinister shuffle
A person follows behind
With intent to start a scuffle

A whispered word
A silent exclamation
A person watches
With awed fascination

A silent fight
A will of iron
A person loses focus
With the wail of a siren

A sudden scramble
A runaway
A person locks the door
With life for another day

A sigh of relief
A pounding heart
A person who has no defense
With resolution to start

A gentle breeze
A quiet whimper
A person dreams
With a voice like a whisper
For those who have voices in their heads that whisper and shout all at once

Fall
Fall is my favorite season
A prettier sight you'll never see
It would be fun to take a walk
And have you right beside me

A joyous laugh
Rings loud and clear
I makes me happy
To see you near

I love your smile
Your infallible grace
You've got beautiful eyes
In a wonderful face

Your hand slips into mine
Walking together
Hoping so desperately
That it lasts forever
This is for the special someone in your life

A Hand to Hold
I wish upon a star
For a hand to hold
For someone to love
After I've grown old

I dream of a happy life
Where days go by slow
To relax in a hammock
And just go with the flow

A single night
Could change it all
A single touch
And in love we'd fall

So much fun
It makes me glad
If it were to end
I would be sad

I wish upon a star
I dare to be so bold
To ask for just one thing
A loving hand to hold
This is for the people who know what they want from their love, and those who have yet to find love.

Weathered
I have been weathered
By the weight of this world
They have seen my wings
And won't allow them unfurled

I am not allowed
To be myself
They chained me down
Like a doll on a shelf

I am tired
Of being pushed around
But I cannot make
A single sound

They have taken it all
They stole my voice
I find I no longer
Have any choice

I will mold myself
As they see fit
I will no longer fight
I will no longer protest it

I will become
A perfect example
Of what this society
Gives to sample

Dolled and dressed up
Covered in lies
Showing my wings
Was my true demise

I dared to be myself
In a society of fake
What made me, me
I can no longer make

I am not unique
That much has been lost
I am a part of society
But at what cost?
I wrote this poem without much in mind, but it turned into a statement about how hard it is to be yourself in society. Be in conformity or be cast out. Be cool or be cast out.
