i wish i could get you
out of my head;
but how does one forget a love
so sweet it
left a touch of sugar
on the tongue

sometimes the simplest
most innocent things
become so beautiful.

i left behind your ocean
hued eyes and found
myself in the arms of a new
kind of love.
i guess i didn’t want to feel
any more rooted than
i already was.

lately i’ve been catching myself
reminiscing about little moments
without looking at the big picture.
i see the blue ocean tint in my
rear view mirror,
although leaving is bittersweet
it’s best we go our separate ways
explore, grow, learn
maybe we’ll meet again some day.

The poems
That mean the most
To me
Are my most personal
Individualistic
Ones

But the ones
That are the most popular
Happen to be the
Most general ones
Writtin in a whim
Easy,
To empathize with
...
It makes sense if you think about it

soft grip of her waist

lips close to her ear

she knows you’ll say

exactly

what she wants to hear

Somewhere far along
In the fields of my fantasy
I buried my aching heart.
Liberated myself from
its undue desires
Felt freer by its depart.

Clouds of despair
Rained on me
As I dug deeper
Beside the redbud tree.
It bled and shed
And wrenched in pain
For the twisted love
That I had always known it to be.

My hands trembled when
I lay it to rest softly,
The pain was mellowed
As I felt the earth
yearn for it wistfully.

The murk enwreathed
The field of sorrows
As I stood there alone,
Beside my heart’s grave.

Swallowed my tears
As I delivered its eulogy
Wishing that one day,
you’d write its obituary.

I have no reason
To believe that love
Blooms like a flower or
that it’s always meant to be.
As I would live
The rest of my days
Knowing that
My heart died, before me.

This is my heart
I've given you
I swear for forever
that it'll be true

These are my arms
that'll hold you tight
whenever you want
all day or all night

These are my lips
that speak of the love
that God has bestowed
on us from above

These are my eyes
that see only you
the joy at your sight
if you only knew

These are my words
I know they are few
to the one that I cherish
my Dear, I love you
I wrote this for my wife, Char. The last line was/is "my Char, I love you". I changed it only for public viewing.

I cried over you
But I will not remember
The way I missed you
I haven’t written a haiku for over 2 years!!!
(Edit, turns out this is a senryu which is even cooler!)

never trust a poet's words
they sound sweet at first
but you'll notice the emotion in their words
it all sounds too...
fake
"i love you like the sea loves the shore"
becomes too scripted
you hear the small tinge of love actually left in their voice
hoping
hoping it could mean something
but it doesn't
it never does
it's just the way they say it
one day, after they have left
you will find their poems, and they will be the exact words that they had said to you
once long ago
please understand this poem is in a way just me talking to myself, reminding me to not trust a man who i once loved, thank you

Elizabeth Sage
A cerulean gaze passes over,
cold like a midwinter breeze.

A smile pinned to the lips;
words emitted from a ******.

"Darling, it isn't normal
to find beauty in dark things."

We wish you would smile,
for you haven't in so long.

Instead your lips are painted black,
and you hum a dark song.

(And that is wrong.)

The character turns;
you're being pushed off the stage.

"You're too far gone to be helped,
Elizabeth Sage."

For isn't it obvious?
Any happiness was just a phase.
