The last day of the decade in which I grew up.
Funny. Every year felt like a decade itself.
A poem every day.

i love you
the words i trace down your spine
i love you
the rhythm my heart beats to you
i love you
the words i ache to say
i love you
the three words left unwritten until now
i love you
three words only unspoken now

at 4 in the
morning the sun
is never up
but i usually am

i worry
about things
that are out of
my control
even more about
things that are

get up early
when i work
and earlier
when i don’t
the older i get the
more i learn
sometimes you
need to cry it out

alone
at night
into your pillow
the blankets
wrapped all
around you

sometimes you
need to cry
and cry
and cry

until the morning
sun falls across
the tears dried
under your lashes

and the lump
in your throat has
dissolved so you can
breathe with ease

you need to get up
let hot water
wash it away
let the steam rising
from your mug soften
any sorrow left around
your morning eyes
take a deep breath
don’t mention it
to anyone

and
just
keep
going

i will
just
keep
going

And like moments
were words
I made a wish
to the stars…

And now

Soon I will hold you close
envelop your heart
kiss your loving soul
and when the words
become so real
that we cannot stand
the electric energy
that flows...

Those moments
will be ours.. alone
with each other...

And again and again
we will meet
after dark
as the moon
yawns in awakening
and the only
light to be seen
embraces us
in a sparkling soft shade
of silver blue.

In that secret place
we will always meet
where the clouds greet
the swaying trees
sprinkling moonlight
in the shadows
as your touch
lingers on my skin
a radiant heat
melding slowly
with the
tingling warmth
your love
blankets me in.
And if you are to love,
Love as the moon loves.
It doesn't steal the night,
It only unveils the beauty of the dark.

And if you are to love,
Love as the rain loves.
It doesn't wet the bodies,
It only washes the sad dirt of the souls.

And if you are to love,
Love as the wind loves.
It doesn't drift away,
It only cleanse you to the core by invading through each pore.

And if you are to love,
Love as the sun loves.
It doesn't radiates heat,
It only pours its warmth on you to enlighten your way.

And if you are to love,
Love as the star loves.
It doesn't delightfully twinkles,
It only reminds you that not even death can separate two hearts.

And so forth,
if you are to love
Love as the whole universe
& not just a part of it.

Family is like a one way mirror.

You were minding your own business,
it never reflects.

But it shatters.

It hurts. You put all the broken pieces together again.

It's not the same.

Your eyes bleed, but you still smile.

Because you are grateful for the pieces you still have.
When my brain won’t go to sleep
When my heart just feels too weak
When my sadness seems too deep
When my eyes begin to leak
......That’s when I turn to poetry

twenty-six

kasi sabi mo'y ika'y babalik
pero sa bawat araw na nagdaan
parang nawawalan na ng halaga ang "walang hanggan"

Today my friend told me
I was acting strange
I gave her the
excuse
of a sugar high
But really,
...
I was just being
myself

This world was not for you

you left too soon

I whisper your name

and dream of forever

Forever,

I will remember

Forever,

I will wait for you to whisper my name

                        through our fragile memories
