You're good enough...
Jayantee Khare Apr 2019

your pride tries to optimize
my persona, to suit your needs,
and if it doesn't, you criticize...
Yet, you're good enough...

your prejudice makes you
suspect even my good deeds,
and you demean me for them too....
Yet, you're good enough...

your control freakiness
makes you restrict me
even if i act right...
Yet, you're good enough...

your self centeredness
wants me to fit in the standards,
you define and ever-changing ...
Yet, you're good enough...

the veil of your hatred
doesn't let you see
my love and concern for you...
Yet, you're good enough...

Sometimes people have personality traits, difficult to deal with, but still they are good enough. Better to be grateful for their positive side

It is holi
Burn the ego
Let all the things go
With the feelings sweet
Sing  chorus tap our feet
The color  which is fast
Takes a lifetime to last
The color that is true
Red yellow or blue
Color me the way
On this holi day
Happy holi!
Happy holi all

The fume

A thick dark fumy cloud
Dormant it lies, but often loud
Precariously overhead, it flowed
The sunshine of the life, it swallowed
It rained, challenged by the mighty peak
In the heart, It pained, to see it weak
The cloud was small but heavy
However dusty and floaty.

The doom and gloom

Embracing in its shadow
In desert, plains and meadow
Eclipsing the days, sunny bright
Dreadful, with the darkening night
With me, always  hanging around
When noticed, nearby it's found
Haunting me with a sadness
Flaunting its darkness
A lot in the cloud explored
Then consciously, It was ignored
But dancing at the back of the mind
Past  hurts and  pains, it  put to rewind

The boom and bloom

And then, letting it flow across, I got immersed,
In fine tiny droplets, the cloud
dispersed,
Now each droplet addressed
separately
Was dried in the shiny sun
completely
All of the cloud, dripped to
evaporate
Condensed eventually, as
distillate
My pains, by that elixir,
cured,
Alchemised me
into
24 carat gold

Our worries and regrets we carry unnecessarily.. so long and heavy
Can be harnessed into insight...
The hindsight
Gives foresight
When you fight them
and
grow through them
Thnk you Sarita for suggested edits..

A shape poetry after a long time

"Akelaapan" v/s"Aikaant" - from the Holy Gita :-

Here goes a humble translation......

Loneliness v/s Solitude

●"अकेलापन'"इस संसार में सबसे बड़ी सज़ा है.!
                 और "'एकांत"
   इस संसार में सबसे बड़ा वरदान.!!

Loneliness is the biggest punishment in this world!
And
Solitude is the biggest gift/blessing!!

      ● ये दो समानार्थी दिखने वाले
               शब्दों के अर्थ में
    आकाश पाताल का अंतर है।

These two words appear so similar, yet cannot be more apart, like heaven and hell !

      ● "अकेलेपन"में छटपटाहट है
         तो "एकांत"में आराम है।

Loneliness is suffering, and Solitude is relaxing!

        ● "अकेलेपन" में घबराहट है
             तो "एकांत" में शांति।

Loneliness is fear and solitude is Shanti/peace!

         ●  जब तक हमारी नज़र
बाहरकी ओर है तब तक हम.
    "अकेलापन" महसूस करते हैं

Till we look for solace in the outer world we will experience Loneliness!

                       और
  ● जैसे ही नज़र भीतर की ओर मुड़ी
   तो "एकांत"अनुभव होने लगता है।

But when you look for it within you, you start experiencing solitude!

        ●  ये जीवन और कुछ नहीं
                     वस्तुतः
      "अकेलेपन" से "एकांत" की ओर
              एक यात्रा ही है.!!

This life is nothing but a journey from loneliness to solitude!

           ●   ऐसी "यात्रा" जिसमें
    रास्ता भी हम हैं, "राही" भी हम हैं
    और "मंज़िल"भी हम ही हैं.!!

**A journey, in which the path is us, the traveller is also us and so is the destination!
It's adopted from Holy Bhagwat Geeta...
Liked it hence sharing here!

silent screamer
a lonely dreamer
neither a mood swing
nor in a bing
don't mind
if you don't find

may be back soon
but for a while
let me hibernate in my style

not a saint
just complacent
ridicule not, I'm not a clown
on a journey unknown.... my own
deep ponderer
solo wanderer
not a wayward
just traveling inward
judge me not O dear!
for you I'm there
but let me be insignificant
an abstinent.....

the petrichor
penetrating the heart's core
from the earth crust
When quenched, it's thirst
blended in the gust
of the summer breeze
yes! it's summer rain!

the petrichor,
wish I could devour
intangible
invisible
inaccessible
yet i savour!

the petrichor,
released by the nature joyfully
when the rain heals
the burns, soothingly!

the petrichor,
intoxicating
exhilarating
reviving
embracing me, like you???
Had first summer rains yesterday, a much awaited relief from sizzling summers...The bliss is beyond words, I soaked myself  before penning this....

Not to boast, just a motivational thought i had to come out of office blues...
Jayantee Khare Dec 2017
On 2nd Dec 1984
Occurred
World’s worst industrial disaster,
“The Bhopal gas tragedy”
Leaving thousands dead,
Children orphaned and many people with disabilities for life.

Following day,
Cries of help were heard
Amongst the dead,
Lay few children alive
Shone bright, a ray of hope,
Miraculously the deadly effects
Of the gas they could cope.

Taken under the caring wings of an NGO,
With Medical aid administered
And the vital  support to grow.

Amongst the children
There was a girl named Ganga
And a boy named Ravi,
together with other such children,
they grew up,
Finding solace in each other’s
Company.

When reached teenage,
the girls had to be moved in a women’s hostel.
Distanced made them closer to each other,
And, the love grew stronger.

Ganga always dreamt of riding pillion on a bike with Ravi .
Ravi, the crazy boy,
sold his house (compensation by govt.)
And fulfilled her desire,
Often they went for long rides.

In the following years,
The love bloomed,
And
With blessings and love,
their marriage was solemnised
By the NGO.

All the women from the hostel
Joined the wedding ceremony,
Bollywood songs were played loudly,
The Haldi, Sangeet and Mehendi
ceremony made it more lively

On the wedding day,
Ganga attired in traditional weaves
And bridal make up,
A beautiful bride she looked
The hostel warden and her spouse
did her “Kanyadan”.

Fortunate was I to bear
the testimony of the union,
As I stayed in the working women’s hostel then.
Ganga moved in to her house
with Ravi to welcome a life anew.
When i stayed in a working women's hostel, i witnessed this marriage. It's a true story. 2 nd dec it completed 33 yrs to the tragedy. I recollected Ganga and wrote this.
(Sangeet: a dance party,
Mehendi: application ceremony of henna on the palms of bride,
Haldi: a body scrub containing turmeric, applied to bride as ceremony.
Kanyadaan: a ceremony of handing over daughter to the groom)

Happy Diwali
Jayantee Khare Oct 2017
Decorate this Diwali
with the depth of relations,
Not with the height of
decibels in explosions.

Let's spread the fragrance
of mutual joy and laughter,
It's unfair to pollute with
the smoke of *******.

Let's make noise together
when our country shines,
Let's not annoy the neighbors
with the unwanted sounds.

Let's scatter the light
of love and care,
Let's illuminate the heart's
with concern and share!

Let's respect the five
valuable gifts of nature,
Freely available are fire-
water-earth-space-air!

Volunteer for safety
health and friendliess,
In this way "HAPPY DIWALI"
makes a true sense!
Diwali is a festival of light n warmth of relations..

Jayantee Khare Aug 2018
one night i visited the dreamland
just to assess how many dreams stand
found many floored when explored
few were killed prematured
few flushed in the time's streams
few murdered by other dreams
few elightened ones crushed themselves
few learned ones locked them in shelves
few dated and were reset
future of this sort most of them met
found some lucky ones still dance
in the eyes of new romance
few could turn into reality
few survivor went till eternity!.....
Most of the dreams die....
Come with expiry dates
The date of your first job
The date of marriage
The day when you become parents
Or the day when you've heartbreak...
Sometimes killed by self....

HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY
Jayantee Khare Aug 2017
"Friendship day"
A growing trend
To recognize, appreciate
and celebrate a friend,
Had many friends,
co-traveled the journey
Many left when paths bend!
A question bothers today,
On this friendship day,
Can all be named as *"friend"?

"Friendship for companionship"
and
"Friends for benefit"
These terms mostly fit!

But the picture is not always grim
Some stars hidden mostly,
light the life,
Whenever it's dim!

Friendship cycle too is
sinusoidal,
"Friendship in hardship"
and
"Friends for life"
Proved the best!
These types are rare,
but in need, such friends
are always there!

True friends don't need
an earmarked day,
They are together
Irrespective of distance
in the night and day!

True friendship doesn't
really need an occasion,
Whenever they meet or talk,
life becomes "A celebration!!"

Since friendship is reassured
in this way,
To all my friends from HP
*"HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY"

Jayantee Khare Dec 2018
once upon a time
standing high with you
i was taken to a cliff
and was pushed down
by you with the help of your band..
nothing left to hold on
but an extending hand
midway, i could hold
only to get pushed further down...
crushed to pieces when hit the hard ground
found myself alive
destined to survive
slim chances to revive...
the pain spilled
i quilled
and rebuild
myself on the heap of my write...
now i am standing high
stronger
safer and better
at my own....
now you are being thrown
hanging at the same cliff
by the same people
who helped you once to push me
should i offer my hand
or quietly bestand
or join the band?
Karma never failth......

Is your mood bad?

Moon O Moon!
Why people call you?
That you go blue.

Moon O Moon!
Why are you miss?
Your sight is a bliss,,

Moon O Moon!
Why are you crescent?
And then absent.

Moon O Moon!
Why are you eclipsed?
A part is missed.

Moon O Moon!
Why are you super?
When I'm bigger.

Oh dear Earth!
Why do you blame?
It's all your game.

Oh dear Earth!
You cast your shadow,
And hide my glow.

Oh dear Earth!
You turn your face,
It's not my phase.

Oh dear Earth!
You behave psychic,
And I am called lunatic.

Oh dear Earth!
I am always same,
My shine is all your game.

Oh dear Earth!
Reflecting your color,
What is given, same I offer.

Oh dear Earth!
I don't have air.
I'm always fair.

Oh dear Earth!
Out of my love for you,
My phases caused by you.

Oh dear Earth!
My love is eternally for you,
Staying away yet eyeing for you.

all bound to shift, leaving the runes

The seeds of hope buried in the dark, when watered with the raining words, sprouted. The plant, when nourished by divine grace, fertilised by new ideas and creativity, came out of doom, about to bloom. one day

Jugnu The Firefly

Once upon a time, there was a little firefly named Jugnu. He was born in the light of the full moon. Everyone celebrated him because; he had sparkling eyes, and a tail that was longer then any other tail in his firefly community.
“We can’t wait till you turn 6 weeks old. We bet because of your tail size you, will shine the brightest at the firefly carnival. It will surely win first prize for our firefly zone.” They would say, as his parents looked on with pride.
When Jugnu was 3 weeks old, when normally a tail would begin the lighting process, nothing happened. He tried changing his diet, and exercising, but no light at all was seen.
It worried little Jugnu but he tried to trust. One day, after a field trip to learn about night-light flying, at school he was bullied. They said, he was a phony, ugly and that his tail was a fake. He came home upset full of self judgements.
“Worry not, sweet child.” His mother said, giving him a firefly hug with her wings. “Remember, you are great just the way you are. Know that there is an inner light within and that never goes out.”
His Father added. “Yes, mother speaks truth. Those who tease are blinded to your greatness even jealous though they may not admit it. The more you give their words power, the more it will disable you. They give you with their harsh words an opportunity to love yourself more. Just ride the energy wind of love and trust all will work out.” He stated, drying his little ones tears.
They all sat together meditating by taking deep breaths for balance. Once done, Jugnu’s parents words began to open his heart and he no longer let his classmates bother him.
Everyday, he continued to eat right, exercise and trust that things would work out. Another week passed and there was no change.
It was getting harder and harder to trust, as the carnival date got closer. Little Jugnu still was filled with doubt.
As the weeks passed, Jugnu even tried adding prayer to his routine. Three weeks, four weeks five weeks passed but still no light appeared.
On the night of the carnival with no light on his tail, Jugnu felt terrible. He judged himself and couldn't bare to face anyone so before the big event, he packed a bag and began to leave the forest.
Jugnu traveled a mile and a half. Suddenly, he stopped and began to cry. By now the sun went down and he knew all the fireflies from the different forests were gathering. It made him feel worse.
When he cried out all his sadness and judgments, a big light appeared in the sky. It moved right in front of him and magically turned into a big firefly fairy.
“Dear one, They call me Justine. I have heard your prayers and have come to help. Though you did your best to trust, eat well and were able to ignore your classmates untruth words, you still carried self judgment and doubt.”
“You must realize you are sacred and weather you light up or not you are a gift with many talents. There is no reason to run away. Just face who you are with love and things will unfold beautifully.”
She took Jugnu under her wings and they flew a while before she spoke again. “The power is in believing in yourself. In sharing the light of love, and being compassionate to all.  And one more thing... but that you must realize yourself.”
They flew all through the country side. The more Jugnu looked at the beauty in the world, the more he felt a warmth build inside.
He saw trees of beauty, majestic mountains and birds who sang grand melodies. He saw rolling green landscapes, and animals moving in harmony.
“I got it! I got it!” he shouted. He knew what was missing. Not only did he need to believe, trust and love BUT, he needed to carry gratitude.
Little Jugnu was ready to return to his community. He thanked the firefly fairy Jolene, and off he went flying at top speed. As he got close to the festivities, he began to shower himself with love.
When Jugnu carried no self doubt, whispering gratitude for all the lessons he learned, he entered his village. Magically, his tail began to shine. It shined in rainbow colors and brighter than anything any firefly had ever seen.
Applause, echoed through the forest. It was an amazing sight whereby there was plenty of light-dance flying, and laughter. He won a trophy for his beautiful tail and it hung tall a top Mother Oak tree.
Next time, you take a walk in the forest be sure to look up. You just might see the shape of a trophy made from fibers of a spiders web and leaves. Then, you know you are in Jugnu’s forest.
As for Jugnu, he had found his inner light and become a master storyteller. He taught old and young the value of love, trust, compassion and gratitude. And he hopes you reading his story learn as well.

Namaste Didi
Jayantee Khare Jul 2017
A fruit and vegetable vendor,
simple and humble,
Always seen with his handcart,
alongside the road, which was parked.
On my way back
from the gym,
Bought the fruits and vegetables
daily from him.

Neither the quality!
Nor the variety!!

But his  greetings "Namaste Didi" with that innocent smile,
caught my attention for a while.
That friendly gesture
made me feel familiar.

Balming the lonely and tired soul,
in the foreign soil,
in this city of strangers,
accommodating many dwellers.

While lost in own thoughts,
or busy in the cell-phone chats.
But this simple guy never failed,
seeing me come, he sweetly hailed.
"Namaste Didi"

Once, when I resumed
after a vacation,
Found dozers, excavators
busy in construction.
An all new road, footpath
for beautification,
It's the "smart city" project's
much awaited implementation.

I realized, that something was amiss!
"Namaste Didi", welcoming, friendly voice!

I looked for him all around,
Standing near a pole, he was found.
Neither cheerful, nor fruit or vegetable?
Uttered him, now the business not feasible.
Not allowed to park his cart anywhere,
As "The Smart City Mission" started here.

Go to the big stores now,
for the daily needs,
Roadside vendors
pulled out like weeds.

Neither friendly smile, nor simplicity!
"Namaste Didi" swallowed by "the smart city"!!

Do we really need a "smart city",
or simply a city?
addressing the needs of all,
retaining its simplicity.
The social warmth
and existing friendliness,
Accommodating all
with self sustenance.

**Isn't socialism, just a myth!
No offence, this way I think!!
Didi means sister in hindi....people address didi to the ladies showning respect and warmth....
Some people are so simple and humble that you can't ignore them..
Since i am advocating simplicity in this,
I have written this poetry with the use of simple words...

Mind~~worm or spider
Jayantee Khare Dec 2017

Mind can be a Spider ...

Swinging between the things
Spinning a web of threads
Elastic thin intricate
To hunt food for self
Or end up eating itself...

~One can be a think tank
Stuck, but no outcome

Or

Mind can be a Silkworm as well..

Confined in darkness
Spinning a cocoon of fibres
Strong lustrous fine
To be weaved into
Useful valuable fabric...

~One can be a writer
weaving words twined with thoughts
into beautiful write

Just a thought to ponder upon....

Loneliness....
Jayantee Khare Jun 2018
●●●
the moon is lonely in the starry night
the sun is lonely amongst the cloud
●●●
the teardrop is lonely in the waves of sea
the heart is lonely in the countless crowd
●●●
the union is lonely while met so many
in the caravan too the loneliness found
●●●
wrote many pages yet lonely is one word
lonely is the matter, the night, things around

Presence vs absence
Jayantee Khare Jul 2017
What
makes me
behave
nonsense?

The sense of
your presence
in
your
absence
?
and/or
The sense of
your absence
in
your
presence
?
Your negligible presence makes me miss you when you are absent.
And
Your significant absence makes me missing you  more when you are present..

Now
"The euthanasia"
passive,
fundamental right
to die with dignity,
when no possibility,
is legitimate...

I wonder
If "the unrequited love"
depressive,
sentimental
A freewill
without felicity
was ever illegitimate?

Trying to correlate euthanasia with unrequited love....now euthanasia is legal in india

Only when you're lonely
Jayantee Khare Mar 2019

lonely when you're with none
lonelier when with wrong one
and the loneliest when not
understood by the people your own..

Just a thought...

Do you love me the way i am?
Jayantee Khare Jul 2017
What if, i didn't find my calling?
Do you love me the way i am?

Neither very attractive,
Nor hardworking.
Neither a sportsman,
Nor a marksman.
Neither an engineer,
Nor a doctor.
Neither a poet,
Nor an artist.
Neither a boon,
Nor a bane.

Do you love me the way i am?

My grades are not upto the mark,
Yet i could be much more than you could ask!

People call me vain,
Passions none to name.

May not fulfill dreams cherished by you,
May not walk on the path shown by you!

Do you love me the way i am?

All what my peers have is better than mine!
For me, unconditional love is just fine!

Oh my dear parents!
Am i not worthy?

Maybe someday I'll find my calling!
Till then, please love me the way i am?
This write is inspired by a teenager, who is under pressure to perform better. Parents try to impose their aspirations on their children...but the child has something else in mind...all five fingers are not equal.. let's learn to accept them the way they are...a person good for nothing, excelling in nothing does have a right to be happy..should not be condemned...

Nowhereland
Jayantee Khare Sep 2017
Come with me to my nowhereland
Get to know me at this stand

I visit this place quite often
It is solitary, dark and silent

Sitting hours leaving everything
Feel nothing and be nothing

Here i meet my truer self
Sit here blank, lost in myself

Don't tell me to comeback just yet
Don't ever try to bring me back

You will get to know me better
Or maybe we will lost together

Why i am here? you'll understand
Come with me to my nowhereland
Understand people in there dark
Away from the world
In soliude...
Just be nothing ..

The taste of betrayal
Jayantee Khare Mar 2018
.
Tasted the betrayal once by chance
The blistered memories still haunt,
But managed to change the way
Now no pain flows through spillway...

Do revisit but for a while,
Recall the good time, smile...
Come back with the lesson right,
Review...revise...and...just write!

Betrayal is hard to forget
But learning the lesson is just apt,
Some cracks beyond repair, it's true
But the light passes through!

.
Last 4 lines, initially Foote note, included as suggested by pradeep..thnk u so much Pradeep. .

Happy diwali
Jayantee Khare Nov 2018
a lamp lit for sweet memories
a lamp for golden dreams
a lamp for high hopes
a lamp for loving bonds

forget not to lit a lamp
for divine blessings
the lamp must for
diwali celebrations

sparkling life pure hearts
full of health and wealth
abundance showers
harmony empowers

one lamp for this world
one lamp for our mother land
may this series of lamp encircles all
may the lamp enlightens all

Good listener
Jayantee Khare Sep 2018

sometimes a lot is to share
but actually no one is there

just for namesake, you have people
but get no support emotional

some issues can't be resolved
some problems can't be solved

but the words of comfort
doesn't really need any effort

and maybe saying "I'm there"
is enough to show one's care

in the difficult moments who lends an ear
blessed ones have a good listener....

Thnks to the listeners!!

Chess hindi/ english
Jayantee Khare Jul 2017
शायरी भी एक खेल है
शतरंज का…
जिसमे लफ़्ज़ों के मोहरे
मात दिया करते हैं एहसासों को…
और शहंशाह अक्सर तनहा हो जाते हैं!!

Poetry,
a game of chess,
In which
the words, the chess pieces
keep defeating
the feelings
and
the winners end up lonely!!

Garba and life
Jayantee Khare Sep 2017
Sometimes at highs
sometimes at lows,
Striking hard
yet the life flows,

Never plan forever
the life moves in the loops,
Atop in love
followed by droops.

Come out of
the life humdrum,
Let the spirit resonate
with the drum.

Facing each other
clap and stoop,
A gentle hop
move in the hoop.

Come dressed up
making one hoop,
Let the music play
dance with your troupe.
Garba is an indian regional dance performed in group. At times with partner. Its performed in circles moving anticlockwise. Involves clapping and bending. It's nine days festival season here. Garba is done to offer prayers to deity Devi Durgaji. She is worshipped as the deity of power strength purity forgiveness peace love compassion ... the supreme mother. Dancers wear special attires and jewellery. I love dancing. I tried to establish anology with the life.
