Elizabeth Squires
in the long ago
a randy poet
did contact me
via the site's
internal email
he requested that I should
pen him some ****** verse
due to me being
such an obliging person
I wrote the fellow
a few lines
of the hot and steamy
variety*
he was quite satisfied
with how they affected
the pelvic region
and it engendered
such a goodly arise
Sir Percy
response
but after several months
all communication
between us
did abruptly cease
for he had found
a more seasoned poetess
to scribe him stuff
*in a spicer pitch

sunprincess
Shakespeare had it right
At least I think so

"A rose by any other name
Would smell as sweet"

I hope Shakespeare doesn't mind
if we flip it around

A thief by any other name
would steal you blind
Let's not blame the color of petals

bones of drought
rattle in the sky
the bones denote
a constant dry

no rains came to quench
they were absent
on the Kenyan mound
an arid woe
remaining around

the land morbidly dead
of life's elation
it vanished in the sun's
unrelenting evaporation

people starved by
unrealized crop
cattle thirsted for
a watering drop

and a parching  famine
dwells in Africa's well
the fountain of survival
a desperate hell

bones of drought
rattle on high
the rattle speaks
of an empty sky
aid agencies implore
the world to give
so that fellow humans
can go onto live

.
I stand here with thumb outstretched
as the years speed by like passing cars.
Trying to hitch a ride on Life's Road,
for all it cares, I may as well be on Mars.

Relentless, never seeming to slow down,
the years pass me by like pouring rain.
And here I rot, the forgotten wretch,
standing on the kerb of Life's Road again.

Shivering and soaking, I turn to walk,
and the years fly past like hot arrows.
My steps trace a line toward the horizon,
beyond the point Life's Road narrows.

For Death, she will claim me as hers,
when the years stop, no more to erode.
The raw relief, release, too turn away,
and leave the madness of Life's Road.

Rebirth

In death, perhaps we are like water
making our way ever deeper from sand and sky.
Maybe we fly, linger and hover awhile
and the dream of becoming a bird is real.
Maybe we are stars, floating oceans of night skies
moving toward divine light in swooping waves
pushing upwards through embryonic waters
spilling over the soul
again and again.

A kind word,
Thought or deed
Lifts one’s spirit
Turning a moment
Or a day around
How blessed am I
To have had such
A generous gift
Bestowed upon me
Reminding me of
Life’s little pleasures and
Shedding light on
This dark weary soul

Heaven rewards,
people like you in my world.
for better or worse,
i will always be here for you in troubled times..

Heaven rewards,
people like you in my world.
for better or worse,
i will always be here for you in troubled times,
and even crossing lines,
you've yet to embrace this life , of loving me.
when everything is fine,
when everythings alright,
i would walk a million miles just to set you free..

i would die,
a million deaths to have your soul.
intertwined,
so that we could become one and grow old in troubled times..

i would die,
a million deaths to have your soul.
intertwined,
so that we could become one and grow old in troubled times,
and even crossing lines,
you've yet to embrace this life , of loving me.
when everything is fine,
when everythings alright,
i would walk a million miles just to set you free.

My Shoes

Here, drink this,
Share my half-full cup
don't worry if you take it all
You're thirsty, drink it up

walk with me aways
i'll let you wear my shoes,
the soles are worn, the laces frayed
but they are tried and true

Sleep now, you're so tired
close your magic eyes
tomorrow is tomorrow
so say the lullabies
