An atheist said to a reverent:

Heaven is a fairy-tale for those
who are afraid of the dark

The priest replied:

Atheism is a fairy-tale for those
who are afraid of the light.
Quoted by Philosopher: Ray Andrew.
Please note that i have nothing against atheism nor atheist people.
They are no different from any other being.
I'm sorry if this did offend anyone in anyway.
You swam in the ocean of tears.
You stayed in the forest of death.
You ate the fruit of hatred.
You killed the one of love.
You spoke the words of hell.

Kept all of the tears in one place.
Protected the nature of death.
Kept eating all hatred.
You killed the one that you love.
Only you can bear the words from hell.

because I have been listening to
your bullying in my head 44 years
and that is 44 years too long.

Listen up Mrs. K
because in 4th grade you said
I was too fat and stupid to be a poet
and I'd be wasting paper anyway.

Now I have something to say.

Tonight in a bookstore filled
with people as my poetry group
launched our book, and I read my
my poems out loud - I was heard
I was good enough to be there.

Mrs. K, listen up
because I am a poet

and you are evicted.

We stand tall, yet so low
above our fears, below our doubts;
we can see through thick
and so we hope so bold
but that is as far as it goes
here we are, hands tied;
we cannot move far
and so we shout for us
to be free

In the grave of dreams,
are hopes shattered, and joy
turned sour
lights turned darkness;
shadows encamping our hopes
all that we ever longed for,
but could never accomplish
all the days of glory,
now a shadowing story

Let us be loose, we pray
take us out of this cage
break all these bars of rage
let us claim the roaring sea,
and name its depths our own.
From the grave of dreams,
I see the sky
but cannot claim it
and so I dare to fight the walls

From the grave of dreams
comes a thousand wishes.
In our helpless and tormented state,
we still seek for freedom
shouting through these scars of rage;
hoping through the chains of siege
praying with all tongues of flames,
but that is as far as it goes;
here we are, hands tied

We look to the world all known,
and wish for the thrills unknown;
though scared of the things unseen,
still wishing for them all
for a song to let us loose,
and a call to give us hope;
for we are locked within walls,
all we do is to dream of dreams
and so painful we never attained them.

So many dreams are shattered in the grave of dreams,
So many wishes never accomplished.
So many years lost within time

'In the grave of dreams, I am restricted within walls so all I do is scream to be heard in the distant hills'

Susan
with her china-white skin
relaxed
down to lace bra and *******—

“Have you ever heard this?” she asks

… sets the album, drops the needle
in the groove
We wait till bass fills in the room
sending time and silence empty-handed
down a hallway

Susan lights a joint
settles on the bed
ample legs begging apart
She ***** in deeply
impounding clouds
Head thrown back
Thick glossy hair—
loses gravity
Eyes half-closed, shadow-heavy
clear and blue like piano
The walls are muted trumpet
stutter-hush of cymbal and the snare
Crackling over scratches

We are barely there

Susan exhales
a swirl of fog to a frail moon
Only her sultry voice still holds me tethered

“Have you ever heard anything— like this?”

Miles flows
around me
Smoking
On the floor of Susan’s room
lying clothed and drunk
Soaked
with chords and wonder

I never hear him coming

Miles takes his time
Clearly, Susan was not the ****** here.  The year was 1969; Lowell State College dormitory in Massachusetts.  I was 19, a music major and on my way to becoming "radical revolutionary" and a poet. The album, I think, was Kinda Blue with Miles Davis and John Coltrane et al

In Me you have peace
take courage
though you may suffer
take heart
I
have conquered
this world.

As you walk
hand in hand
with Me,
I am in you
and you in Me.

Therefore
each day
walk
courageously.

Born
I remember when I was innocent
Life was beautiful
Everything was just perfect
I didn't think too much about things
And according to me
Nothing was there to be thought about

Then reality sunk in
It suddenly dawned on me
that I was living and illusion

Something called World War
had happened
Millions lost there lives
Humanity needed saving
From greed and sadists

One day I switched on the TV
only to see
People protesting
Complaining about trees and papers
last week others were complaining about elephants and horns
Well today's menu is global warming

*I thought life was beautiful
