I had a soft dream,
We were lying in the grass,
Staring at the moon.
Like Harry Potter, the sorting hat (my mom)
has placed me in a ******, crimson colored school.
It’s disorienting, as I go about, the logos are wack.

Poor little rich girl
no beachside lovers
this interminable, scorching summer.

I’m swept up by scholastic spirit.
Can you hear it? Cause it’s deafening me,
on this cool, dry, Boston orientation day.

As we finished our morning 8k jog,
the sunrise blossomed, painting hot lava clouds
with hues of yellow, orange and pink.

We’re traipsing unfamiliar paths,
it’s not what we’re used to, the roads are uneven
and the architecture’s all boxy and wrong.

BLT Merriam Webster word of the day challenge 05/27/25:
Interminable: something that seemingly has no end
Soon I’ll be home;
time will move again.
My heart will thaw,
Beating outside the frost.

Preserving its warmth,
I carefully packed its pulse—

Kept in frozen brief moments:
Three a.m., laughing in the stairwell
Floor-dusting kitchen dancing,
Long gates and airport goodbyes,
The tightest hug I ever had—

Soon I’ll be home;
I will breathe again.
My heart will thaw,
beating outside the frost.

Summer is a promise—
Ice is melting;
with every tick
of the passing clock
Time to have some fun
12 years of school now done
Snooze you lose, time choose
Workforce calls each must decide
Slave to job paycheck career

Footnotes
Graduation ceremonies commemorate the moment when child becomes an adult. Two show they had graduated by the school standards. It should represent a competency to college and job placement and training. If college is an ecological step, your diploma is your ticket. To get into college. Representing 12 years of knowledge.

(Ok perhaps I’m jaded)
Welcome to the rat race
I would not want to be young today
Nobody wants to work
They want everything for free
Moral values are gone
After 12 years of school,
what skills do they have
United States have children
who graduate
without knowing how to read
As a nation
Our test scores are shameful
It was something you never did
it was something you always did

God rest my soul
Because you never did

I learned to drink
Because you never did
Never defined the moment
Because you always did

God rest my soul
Simply put
I knew you would
Because you never did

Oh you enjoyed the fall
You loved it all

God rest my soul
Because you never did

Maria
Everything’s broken, shattered,
Scattered completely asunder.
And I’m left as a steppe mat grass.
Only crows go round and thunder.

Only crows go round, and their wings
Chase out my reckless life.
I should run after her, but I’m beat.
I can’t catch up with her. I’m lowlife.

I’m lowlife. I can’t hand her back.
I would apologise! I'd confess!
Everything went amiss with us.
It’s a shame that we'll get no chance.
Thank you for reading this poem! 🙏💖

Juno
And so my sweet lullaby’s
Hold my hand there
Pull me along these treacherous roads
Hold me tight
Through the darkness
And keep me going
You always have
I need you now
You are- always- forever
I rely on you
You could not let me down
Not like everyone else has
You wait with me
Through the horrible times
Not trying to pretend it fine
But understanding
Being there
And with that I am eternally grateful
Then when I am ready
you guide me gently -back to the light

13/05/25
Not really sure I’m ready
For the day I die
Never been that steady
When walking along this crooked line

I say that I love Jesus
But how much of that is true
Is that just a line I feed upon
To try and make it through

When I get to Heaven
Standing at the Pearly Gates
With the lip service I gave him
Will that be the day God hesitates

Straddling the fence
More often than any man could count
I just hope through all of this
God’s righteous judgment doesn’t count me out

If I’ve relied on works alone
To work my own salvation out
The only thing that it would show
Would be the worship of myself

And if that is all I have
I’m much worse off than I thought
I need to give it all to Jesus
And the healing grace of God
I rely daily on the grace of God 🙏
