My Best Trade
tee2emm Mar 2015
I'm trading sticks of cigarette for a poem
Bottles of beer for a few more
Whiskeys make me forlorn
Why not a few more poems
So I scribble and scribble some more

I'm trading my loneliness for lines
Rhymed or rhymeless, why should I mind
When the please the eyes and tickles the mind
I sure will memorize and mimic them like a mime
So I'm still scribbling on this torn paper of mine

I'm trading my hearts pain
Trading it for a paper and a pen
Like a painter ready to paint
I deep my petite paint brush in a bowl of paint
Dap dap, little dots, strokes and dashes as I dare to paint
Little by little the whole picture is becoming plain

I'm trading all love's tears
Tears shade in secrecy for a poem shared publicly
Though seemingly absurd but poems brings this inconceivable peace.
So I'm scribbling and scribbling my way to serenity.

I trade it all for a piece of poem
I may not have made the point
But I've washed clean my plough
And starring at this beautiful not-so-beautiful poem
I have read and reread it that it is starting to sound like a song.
Reading one last time, "my best trade ever".

Joy or Hurt, What is Love?
tee2emm Mar 2015
Like dewdrop seating precariously on the petal of a rose.
Emotions rise and love grows
The path with branches overgrown
Love still remains an uncertain adventure.

Love is as beautiful
As it is hurtful
Like a cake, bitter, sweet and sour
Its taste, the tongue still trying to figure out.

Hurt as it may
In love I chose to stay
What wanton insanity

Happy Mother's Day
tee2emm Mar 2015
If I had a mom
I will, on this day, write her a poem
But she is been long gone
Suffice it to say, in the stock of moms
She is certainly the best of them all.

My first song
And my first love
My first breath
And my first step

When the world disappeared
She was the one that was there
When everyone was gone
She was the one that said "no need to be alone"

If the world were a gift store
A mother is the best thing in stock
The gift of a mother
Is like being given the whole of Hawaii in a gift wrapper.

Though my mom is gone
This is my most happy poem
So if you still have a mom
Do your most to show her love
The value of what you have is best known when it is gone.

My late mom and the moms in the world
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY with much love.

War
Soldiers sown in the field
And bodies usually are the yield
Bodies of strangers, friends and colleagues
Leaving survivors with long lonely monologues
Rendering life without taste or feel

  In this clash of elephants
The casualties include animals, civilians, even infants.
That is to say but the least.
Vultures gather in circles to feast
On the remains of once beautiful living beings.

Where then is the profit of war?
When rebuilding cost so much more
Both humanly and materially.

Blacks, Whites and Browns
tee2emm Feb 2015
You are either black, white or brown.
Not yet, don't frown at this myopic poem
It's just a momentary flicker of thoughts
Read till its home
Else don't dare judge.

I was saying,
When you look, this is what you may see.
People come in black, white and brown shading
At least, that's what the eyes reveal
So our treatment of each other follow these same shadings;
Black, white and brown.

"Blacks are dubious and evil
Whites are righteous, just a little corny
Browns are drug lords and...... something," don't ask me.

Racial conflict
Each struggling to be distinct
Superiority tussle
Utter show of psychological and mental muscle.
Complexity expunging simplicity
Even the weaver-spider is now entangled in its weaving.

If we will but wear our true and innocent eyes,
Everything we look perfect and right
But we have all lost our minds
Even flat grounds now make  tedious climb.

We are neither blacks, whites nor browns
We are just human beings,
Human beings that are lost
Lost in the refraction of many colours
Same which was designed to make us appreciate each other more.

Now pardon this Radom thoughts
Are we blacks, whites and browns
Or just human beings in different colour shading?

BEING HUMAN
tee2emm Aug 2015
When the earth quakes
Even the sea is not safe
Death lurks around every turn and caves

When the aged curses
Beware, even a tree on a bank withers
Even the most eloquent stutters

When a child cries
The heavens is summoned
And all the earth is cautioned

When humanity falters
And yet lack the humanity to admit same
Beware for we are just at the bend before our shame.

Make the mistakes then
Just don't make excuses for them
Just scurry and scout for the lesson therein.

The Broken
tee2emm Dec 2014
I meant to pen a happy poem
But somehow, ended up with this same old song
Heart in shreds
Dry tears shed
Overran with a fresh fload as I awake
Been too broken to, again, break
But, that's just a thought, I still break anyways.

Does the sun still smile?
This gloom has lasted too long a time
Does the stars still twinkle?
No equation is, again, simple
Do we still know beauty?
Everything is gone dark and ugly
We must all be a broken people

Weeping last only for the night
Morning is going to bring a new reason to smile
Though the night may seem to have lasted too long
Surely there is always a new song
We could either wait or
Create our own options, which are most often wrong.

I am broken
You are broken
We all are broken
But if we treat the threads as a whole dress
Not as single individual threads
Then we are on the way to redress
No more broken me
Nor broken you
Just a healed and mended people.

SWEET GETAWAY
tee2emm Oct 2014
Close your eyes honey.
Take my friendly hand
Let me carry your worries
Close your mind ' s eye
I know a place you' d like.
I know of this island
It has a comfy house on the sea
shore ' s sand .
The house encircled with a plush
lawn ,
And on this island the sun never
frowns .
See her laying on the sea, but she
will be up by dawn .

Can you hear the sweet song from
the brushes ?
Can you see how the water , to the
shore , rushes ?
Look in the pretty clear sky
See the variety of beautiful birds
flying by.
Please honey , let me make your
heart smile .

In this sweet get away
let me bear your pain and kiss your
worries away .

Diamond In The Dirt
tee2emm May 2015
One of a kind
Rare to find
Harder to describe
Thus a poem with lengthy lines.

As opaque as she is transparent
As dark as she is a fluorescent
Even without perfumes she wears an awesome sent
Though she bears her flaws to same never condescends.

Who carries a ghana-must-go of money
Yet ignorant of the value therein
I guess its only one who is blind totally
Its like caressing and romancing a tree trunk
Such a waste of passion and emotions.

Shine dear star, for that you were born to
Like the sun shines gracefully and true
Even the blind can't feign ignorance that she is beautiful.
Prince charming won't have a choice but to rescue you
From kingdoms afar, woods and seas he will see through.

Diamond in a dirt, that's who you are
Lay quiet in wait, much to the delight of a happy miner.
Price is rarity's beautiful daughter
Though clouds can blanket the sun from shining but it won't last forever.

LIFE IS MY BIRTHRIGHT

Life is my birthright,
A right I sail turbulent tides to keep;
The snares of death, schemes of man and nature's tides.
Life is my birthright,
Like a king guards his kingdom, I guard it with pride.
Death lurks, a nightmare, where life lays beautifully asleep.
Life is my birthright,
A right I sail turbulent tides to keep.

Here We Go Again
tee2emm Jan 2015
First day if the first month of the 2015th
What is different?
If you ask me, nothing
And everything

Nothing is different
My wordrope still stuffed with clothes from the year just past;
Same people and same faces
Except they seem to wear this shmock or smile
It must be a new year resolution
Resolutions that are easily misplaced somewhere in everyday confusion

Everything is different
I have 365days to make that difference
Days of grace
I will look back
But not so to retract
But to see what I need to take out and what I need to put back.

Self asks
What will they give?
Don't seek to receive
Spread the doors of you ban and dish out.
Though life is sour
Like without a reason to live for
Suicide seems the only door
But then I just stumbled on this thought.

When you no longer see any good reason to live
Just live anyway you must
Else you may be taking another person's reason for life.
Haven't been writing for a while, so just bear with my effort at a come back. Thanks.

Poetic Magic
tee2emm Mar 2015
Three wives or at least two
But I'm one of the few
The few that believes in monogamy
So I'm sticking to my marriage with poetry

Yes, I admit to a couple of affairs with words
But that's a crime my wife can easily wave go
Like Sarah having her maid wooed
Though desecrating to her matrimonial room.

Make it rain all day
Rain poems that makes heart stay sane
Pain and bitterness interwoven into poetry
Yes sad but the joy therein comes after the read.

Let there be a deluge
So much without a place for refuge
Let the poetic flood wash away pollutants of this awesome world
Let the poetic purification begin now.

I pledge to transformational poetry
I write this insane world back into sanity
Recreating my own space
Letting my pen and mind decide the pace.

Peace out of chaos
Addicted criminal gone pious
I call that "Poetic magic"

I am human
Yes I am
I don't mean it in a demeaning sense
Being human is the greatest gift I've received.
I am just trying to admit my flaws
I fault now and then, so just in case I have but a straw
Just know I love you too much
So much that On this thought I stucked
"What will become of me should I lose you?"

In this certainty
Doubts beclouds me
Not doubts whether I love you or not
But doubts of what if I go wrong
The human in me assures I surely would
Should I do,
I never meant to.

Just in case
In my flaws
I go wrong
I mean these words
I AM SORRY
I pray you not to get weary

My flaws are but a stream
Flowing side by side my love for thee
Both of which collects into an ocean
An endless ocean of love affection and adoration.

Just in case I go wrong
This you must before hand know
I AM SORRY.

A GUIDE TO LIFE
tee2emm Apr 2015
Just cos you've got so much money
Too much of all everyone is wanting
You order things to come and go
Determine if things go fast or slow
You're already neck deep sunk in misperception and disillusion
Reality check
Life is just giving you a *******
But when her deed is done
I mean after the ******
Life is going to slap you 'welcome to reality'

Not-withstanding your place in life
You must play fair and nice
Giving a little love and respect won't hurt
A hand to the helpless lot
Let down your pride and let go your ego
They both lead where you don't want to go.

Humility in the heart wealth
Modesty in the midst of affluence
Is by far a much better life's romance

PROVE ME WRONG
tee2emm Dec 2015
Honeyed tongue
For your emptiness I longed
A mere shiny stone
Feigning itself a piece of gold
Thence to many stories told
So much for the water a basket holds

Hollowness and loud noise
You can't separate those
Loud mouthedness and lies
Faithful husband and wife
Unbreakable binds for life
You can't divorce those hard as you try

Heard this song long enough
Falsehood gets embraced while reason is tossed
Wrong destination is begotten by wrong courses
The end lays visible from the take off
No surprises but it still hurts
Hurt more than a deep cut

I knew you are as beautiful as you are flawed
Despite do I dare to trust
Hope against hope you prove me wrong
That everyone is capable of a turn
Even a bat can land on the ground
But I was the one who was wrong

A rodent that gets attracted by an owls eyes
Won't live long enough to realise that fatality of its fantasies
My tears and sties
Against that you can verify
My potent and infallible testimony
Can't make right of wrong
Like you can't have stars and the sun
Its either one or the other, never both.

Played my lot
Time to go
Time to move on
Hope you regret watching me go.

Dare to hope in spite the obvious end

A poem a day

Give my attention to her
Like a queen, treat her

I cannot do that
Not because it is not what I want
But because I lack the capacity to do that

If I had a heart
I will glut her with more than she asks
If I had a heart she will be the rhythm of my heart's dance.

How can I love you
When you already have my heart
How can I give you attention
When you have my clock
How can I treat you like a queen
When you have taken over my throne

Simply put
I love you helplessly.
My heart and time is with thee
Just do with it as you please.

ALL BEAUTY IS TEMPORAL
tee2emm Apr 2015
Shilla Shilla oh Shilla
Her name was like the world's tallest pillar
Her beauty shone like the brightest star
None in the neighbourhood didn't know her
She was are perfect description of a jewel by the most dexterous jeweller

We craved to be-friend her
Just to, once-in-a-day, say hi.
The rivalry was totally worth her,
If only she will spare you a few minutes of the time she has
For time is what she scarcely had
She was too engrossed in a fairy life of hers.

Suitors came and suitors went
But she was in no way going to wed
"Marry and enslave myself?" She once said
Every night club she went
Wherever there was hullabaloo, you'll find her there
Life was as fun as it could ever get

In the joy of her beauty she basked
In spite all advise she'd rather pass
She got gifts, those she did and didn't ask
Unaware how much time has passed
Nor how fast it still is passing

Now aged and old
Time has taken its toll
She now is alone and cold
Wishing someone will come by and say "please be my own"
Those rosy days are gone
"Oh had I known" is now her only song.

Shilla Shilla oh Shilla
Now sitting on a mat, in the sun she sees her past
Wondering how fast it came and passed.
Shilla Shilla oh Shilla
Now wishing she should've let one of the suitors marry her
May be now she would be having an old wrinkly sweetheart
One whom will love and cherish her.

Youthful beauty is always temporal
Like the sun, though it rises by dawn
It surely must fade at dusk.

Searching through the pages of time
Yet uncertain what I find
This mountain is for the clime
This mountain of piled thoughts over time

Confined to this cushioned couch
Couch of sham comfort
Never felt so comfy and proud
Thus the alteration in my comport.

I have flown
Yes call me a clown
But I know I've flown
Dreams were the wings
So cute a pair they set you so height flying.

I am looking for myself
Though there in the Mirror
All I see is a mess
But I'm en route the redress.

Find yourself first
And you have found all else.

Tired of Love Poems
tee2emm May 2015
I am
Tired of poems about love
Sickened by love poems.
I have a muse for a different stuff
I don't want to write about the beauty of this world
I'd rather tell how wrong it has gone
And how hard it is to get the things for which we long
Decent life; love; joy; peace; and a home.
Love sounds like an almost beautiful song
Just messed up by a few wrong notes
Like a beautiful adventure
Marred by a few wrong turns.
Love is like love is not love anymore.

I am tired of poems about love
I want to unmask all the hurt behind every smile;
I want to put the "not" in every "I am fine";
I want to show the similarity between love and hate;
To tell the relationship between joy and pain;
To tell how much hate we harbour in our hearts;
Thus open a new page that lays plain humanity's problems.

I am tired of love poems
They sound like a song sang from a cranky voice
That awful sound of noise
I want to tell of the emptiness in every hug;
The shallowness of every heart;
The huge void in every home.
I am so very tired of poems about love
And almost disgusted by love poems.
What is in a poem about love
Or even a love poem
If the don't seek to right 'these' wrongs?

Now you see why, I hope,
Why I am tired of poems about love
And sickened by love poems.

I'm too straight to be gay
The eggs are laid
Trying now to lay low
Till it's hatch due day.

The clouds are trickling down
Don't believe me? Go check the lawn
Babies are born with beards
While adults labour for a few strands
Who said wisdom is not sold
Deceptive tale told
Go see the boundless wisdom books hold

The curtains have fallen off
The deception now lays exposed
Like a hen's behind as breeze blew
Nothing is again new
If you've looked round lately you will tell its true
Their falasies lay bare before you

My wife has divorced me
She found out about my affair with poetry.
I could very well plead she forgives
But I doubt if she will
Because this infidelity is one without ending.
Poetry is my only felony
You have no right to judge me
Unless you have tasted the beauty of her beauty
Yet, didn't fall for her tasty meals nor her pleasantries.

IN TUNE WITH HUMANITY
tee2emm Mar 2016
A generation of the blind
No, not blindness of the eyes
But blindness of the mind
If we cannot see beyond our eyelids
How can we see the poor and deprived
The voiceless, downtrodden and marginalised
Or the gross abuse of human rights
That the perpetrators seek to justify
And the media does well to glorify
Nothing is new on the news every time
Watching has become a depressing exercise.

A world of the deaf
No, not deafness of the ears
But deafness of the heart
If we cannot hear beyond our ear....drums
How can we hear about the rot of the earth
The cry of that child everyone have deserted
The ever loud war drum beat
The glaring yearning of humanity that
Is constantly well kept underneath the carpet
Which crisis analysts always help with beautiful excerpts
Buttressing governments' claim "there is no other way but that"

A generation of the numb
Not numbness of the 5 senses, no
But the numbness of the soul
If we cannot feel beyond the pain that is our own
How can we feel the hurt of those without a home
Those kids that go naked without food
Those that are not sure of a tomorrow
Those that wars have confined to grieve and sorrow
Isn't that why governments are always rude
Instead of apologising and making amends for policies gone wrong?
Isn't that why we post for pictures with the malnourished so the world can call us heroes?
Our cheap trick to be famous

The state of our society
Is a reflecting statement of who we are, really
But the mirror seems to be broken
Thus fine tuning the reflecting images
A world of selfishness, cruelty without rights
One country does wrong and another feels the bite
War erupts, one more wrong to make the other 2 right
A world of long days without nights
If you cannot go to sleep
How is it possible to dream?
A world bedeviled with drought
Everything hitherto coloured green is fading out
Unless the rain pours down soon
Like the fields, we are also doomed
Unless we feel, hear and see
This is where our end begins.

The croaking frogs behind our home seem to have traveled with you.
I have swimmed this deep sea of space and silence,
It is warm and it is cold.
I will study stars if they can foretell your return.
I have felt the frostbite of our memorable moments,
Bringing you close to my heart and further from our bed.
I argue with myself if we are better apart or together
But teeth and tongue have taught me better.
Dear queen of this deserted throne,
Return and breathe life into this clay-moulded Adam.

Dear warrior of my kingdom,
This city is beautiful with its golden monuments.
The birds here fly with pride
And the people walk with majestic strides,
But, in spite it's beauty and glory,
It feels like a beautified royal cemetery.
Its monuments look like tombstones,
This is where beauty exemplifies ashes.
I have wished to fly home on milky ways,
To lay my weary head on your bossom.
Dear warrior of my kingdom,
Keep the gates locked, I'll see you soon.

Lasted no longer than the spring rains
But the memories made always stays
Stay to make days long and nights cold
To make life somewhat lonesome

Relationships and trees
I don't see much differences
Both grow and flourish in spring
Wither and shed with the Winder's dry wind
Requiring much care, nursing and tending
Still without assurance of surviving

I have made a handful of friends
A garden I intend to proudly tend
All broken branches to bind and mend
Its green must know no end
I am irrigating till spring comes around again.
