Love Life

I was 15 years old with my first girlfriend
I figured with her the rest of my life I'll spend
Happy and safe head laid on her lap
Comfortable and warm. I easily took a nap.
When I awoke I realized she had left.
Along with the years I considered my best.
I laid my head down and closed my eyes.
With the tearful memory of how she died.
Little did I know that she was never mine.
We all live for someone else. So how could life be my bride?

Ripe fruit on the branch,
so rich and sweet,
bursts juice that trickles down.

Into the roots so thick and deep.
all good things,
return to the ground.
