As easily as the sun sets every day
I wish I could break away
From you who are holding me prisoner
From you who promised me happy-ever-after
The gold has finally faded
and I now feel jaded
I believed by staying I was strong
but now I know I’m so wrong
I need that first step
that’s the only way I’m going up
By leaving you behind
Banish you from my mind
Remove you from my heart
A new life I’ll start
Zia Feb 2020
We’re told we don’t fit
What do they know
but a lil bit?
From where we sit
You and I know it
We’re in it
‘til the last spit

i float in the air
and let loose my hair
every time you stare
like i'm the prettiest mare
you have in your lair

While fiction is safer

Reality's much stranger.

(There may be a lie to suit your every need

But there's always a truth that would set you free.)

Stories will make you

Your own safe haven

In the arms of imagination.

(You might miss the path the present lights

Towards your destination.)

Living a life fueled by love

Wouldn't be worth a thing

If you didn't have a heart.

(But isn't your brain

An issue more pressing

When it's what's kept it beating

From the start?)

A lifetime is but

Some boring tale

If you don't aim for the stars

Leaning over the rails.

(But what if you fall

To your untimely death?

Are risks truly worth it

When there's so much time left?)

Live your life

Running fast

Drive your destiny

Foot pressed to the gas.

(Listen to your intuition

Never roam

Where your soul feels safe

Is where you should feel at home.)

Jump from the nest

Fly your own jet

Make each brand new day

One you'll never forget.

(Don't spend your days in a haste

Not one moment's a waste.

Keep your time moving slow

Who knows what could change tomorrow?)

Dance when with the ones you love

Sing a melody when alone.

Embark on new adventures

Accept the unknown.

(Give a smile to your lover

An embrace to your mother

Try to never end your day

Feeling bereft.)

At the end of the day

Know that none of these choices

Are limited by right and wrong.

(They only ask you

To turn right or left.)

I don't know you anymore

Please, leave our memories by the door.

Pack your bags

Take all your new burdens with you.

I won't be helping you

To carry them.

Waving goodbye

I'll bid you adieu

When you stare back at me

I'll take my bitter thoughts

And bury them.

Time came for us, love

That's the sad truth:

Not everything is meant to be forever.

If hope is a thing

That often shrivels and dies

Better late to bury it

Than never.

We don't know each other anymore

So go on

Leave our memories by the door, —

I promise you I'll take care of them.

Even if

We never see each other again

Know that, on my drunken nights

I'll be fondly sharing them.

You don't know me anymore

Set yourself free.

Leave your memories by the door.

You choosing not to stay
made me find my way
Zia Jan 2020
none the wiser
you the stranger
smiled with candor
it felt like summer
and i melt like butter
in the dead of winter
Zia Jan 2020
happy is i
i cannot lie
read my eyes
you’ll realise

Oh Mary, Mary, quite demanding
How does ya man stay put?
With blue pills, and dollar bills
Pity, those pretty ******, helping his cardiac output

You’ve got something about Mary, in ya hair
Where? Oh, there!
Oh well, I really don’t care
It’s not the only thing, I like to bare
Look up to the ceiling, if ya dare
If ya mother ever saw, it’ll be your worst nightmare
Good comes with the bad, life sometimes, just ain’t fair
Thank God, it’s only hair gel, try looking outside the square

Oh Mary, Mary, quite demanding
How does ya man stay put?
With blue pills, and dollar bills
Pity, those pretty ******, helping his cardiac output

Mary had a scary *****
Its hair was, fully overgrown
And every where that Mary came
The **** was sure well known
She happened to give it, a shave one day
That went against the grain
It made the clients drool, then play
To see her **** hairless, once again

Oh Mary, Mary, quite demanding
How does ya man stay put?
With blue pills, and dollar bills
Pity, those pretty ******, helping his cardiac output.
