Jellyfish Oct 2014
I'm walkin' around my neighborhood,
Looking at all the different colors,
It's just that kind of October,
Where everything is pretty,
And it can get kind of chilly,
But that's okay,
I'm wearing my sweater today,

And today,
Is the day that I'm gonna see you again..
And I'm nervous,
But I'll be alright,
I'm just feeling my heart race on the inside,
And regardless of the consequences,
I'll be with you tonight,
I'm seeing you tonight.
In this October chill,
We'll feel all the right feels.

I see little kids over across the street,
They kind of remind me of how we use to be,
When we were young,
And life goes on,
And even though it gets scary,
Growing up and all,
We have eachother through the fall.

And today,
Is the day that I'm gonna see you again..
And I'm nervous,
But I'll be alright,
I'm just feeling my heart race on the inside,
And regardless of the consequences,
I'll be with you tonight,
I'm seeing you tonight.
In this October chill,
We'll feel all the right feels.

Love enters when you least expect;
that night surprised them both.
Their reunion had been so perfect,
that night they swore an oath.

Wrapped in his arms, the sunlight peaked
when morning came again.
Memories of the night had leaked
to everyone but them.

Oh misery, please stay with me,
there’s nothing to forget.
The skies are prettier at sea
when storms are on the threat.

He tripped her up, and she fell hard,
but catch her he did not.
For him she let down her guard,
but he had wished she fought.

Oh misery, please stay with me,
I do not wish to part.
Please, won’t you keep me company
beside my lonely heart?

Before she knew it, he was gone
to keep the village safe.
She never felt she could belong,
her life forever changed.

He said he’d love her ‘til the end,
she never questioned why.
Always his name she would defend;
she loved him ‘til she died.

He should have warned her when he left
he’d be forever gone.
He stole her heart, an act of theft,
she’d wait forever long.

"The heady wine you imbibed
on those nine, insane days
thinking it as love, in fact was
unadulterated pain
with just another name"
pitying our condition
waning lonely moon
kept on saying over and over again
Long fingers of pain,
played a doleful tune
on my heart strings
rocking me to a troubled sleep

her eyes were swollen
with sleep deprivation,
chronic food aversion
made me look like
an emaciated ascetic
in a fast unto death.

Then, quite unplanned
in an enchanted evening
we bumped in to each other
once again, at a place
one would never
expect the other.
a conspiracy of hearts
still secretly beat in resonance,
seeking pain yet again
as if it's the only reward
for the pure devotion to each other?

What can we do then?
On the  bed of hay we rolled together,
washing our blues away,
the most primitive way,
sniffing and licking
biting and tasting
darkness pulled a curtain,
shyly peeped the stars
to see what we are up to
Then-
we gave up all restraint
started frenzied *******,
by her telegraphic winks
a distant star reproached us
"you still haven't learned a thing"

Silken square fills with air,
So warm, so very warm...
Hotter, higher...
Pumping in, and in,
In... more air, please, more...
Falling…, falling...
****! Really falling!!
Strong arms drag me to center.
Hotter, higher, further and farther,
and Oh! Oh!!
Tighter and higher than it can go...
and Implode! Explode!!...2...3...
As the colored patches swirl around me, strong arms
Pull me up and over (breathing and uh...wheezing!)
Landing sideways, mixed together, to sleep.
Huddle of humans, one or two?
Arms are somewhere, leg over leg,
You hold me,
I pass out.
Best is ...
Opening eyes,
Nose smashed in stubbled cheek,
Seeing my son's chin.
Thank You for Now,
Thank God forEver.
-2007 This will always be reunion day to me. I don't even blame me if I couldn't parse it to perfection! :)

They are all drunk, light footed, swank
spunky babes and daring guys once in campus
now yellowing leaves in slanting evening light
their dress, manners and assured pace suggest
"There is no need for any hurry in our lives any more"
all those songs deeply buried quickly surface
after all these years of total separation, can you believe?

They started from where they left, many decades back
memories poured out, collected in pools, happy faces
reflected on that clear surface like before,
and words regained their cadence of those days of yore
meanings deeply buried under the dead leaves of
fallen years surfaced, tickled, they giggled and shared secrets
once more as if still in teens they are
                                                        The last thing one remembers,
before slipping in to stupor is Happiness
a parakeet with colorful wings floating on the air,
lovingly calling each one's pet name in campus then,
magic that went missing from lives, all these years
was brought back by memories, they find what that means
there it was thick in the night air, past , chocking every throat,
a simulacrum of past, white clad ghost embraced them tight.

I'd tie loose ends for you.
Flightless
Crooked wings
I lamented and cursed you
those days when the forest burned,
You all took flight, forgetting my wings were wrong,
I had to run on legs pounding the earth, and still I burned,
And hate burned my heart as I watched you fly in the blue.
Your soaring caught my dreams, seeded a drive, cricked my neck,
Stretching my legs and climbing the mountains, and searching the valleys,
I watched you from under the blue; your distant scorn fell from above,
Because even when we talked, we had shared not the sky to speak of.
Then that dark day came, when the scarred side of my heart rejoiced
The sky split in two, great white rips of heat, with a thunderous voice,
Air threw you about, drenched and unprepared, and without the choice
You fell, lost, alone, my scars awoke and yet my heart no joy had found,
You returned to my domain, to flee the rain and the chastising clouds,
Landing anew,  no strength, your eyes were blind, your legs unformed,
I saved you; crooked wings coddled broken ones, bonds reformed
Strong legs to crutch you along, and I led us through my world,
A world you had not known, of dark and depth, a world alone
Your world shrank, mine overflowed, we found more like me,
Dragging the winged and dashed to the safe and new.
Where I had burned, you now found refuge.
Where I had envied, we had been spurned.
My strengths came to your rescue
My crooked wings
Flightless

Red rose
reflecting the color of love
in our cursed world,
since the day
you lost your gloss,
and looking so pale,
lost and forlorn
the moon has lost her sheen,
that held us close,
Waves of the sea lost their tune
and had fallen mute,
the sea breeze
completely evades
my path, as if I had
unfairly jilted her friend.
The beams of sun lost
their warmth,
the mingled fragrance
I inhale from my garden
where  variety of flowers bloom,
is now absent,
My pale, maudlin rose
disconcerted I am
beyond words,
what has the world done
to you for you to loose your hue,
shall I fall in love with you
all over again,
make your heart dance with love,
at the move of my wand?
Set the wrong of the world
right once again, with my tears
shall we be whole,once again
like before?
