the morning is infused with possibilities,
before the humid heat of the South weighs
me down.

I long for the mountain streams of Appalachia,
and standing under a water fall on a hot day.

I live in the city, but I carry the mountains with me
in my heart.

The mountains are home of my heart, where I can always return to
over and over.

A home of my heart to welcome a new day,
time and time again.

Air
If it's not the air conditioner it's the sprinklers out the open window on the adjacent wall.
They didn't build these houses with ventilation.
You best build a time machine and convince your mother to marry rich if she can manage.
Probably fall asleep by the time you finish building though.

Sunshine!
Life’s lingering flashlight.
Too bright to stare at the sun.
Don’t stay out in it too long.
Suffocating heat sometimes.
My porch gets like a baking oven.
Get burnt and it will peel your skin.

Visions of desert dunes,
Camel trails:
A searing sun that sends you delirious,
Mirage-seas shimmering hypnotically above the sands.

I love the sun.
My memories of buckets and spades,
Golden sandcastles along the esplanades.
Delicious ice-cream.
A cooling breeze.
Grass and pollen
Making you sneeze.

A mini-heatwave we have now,
But storms will come
Over that brow.

British weather I have to say:
Sunshine now
For which we’ll pay.

We are having a mini-heatwave in the UK.....

you know that feeling when you've had too much of something, yet that limit doesn't seem to exist cause you can't get enough?
excited, breathless, flushed, happy
and did i mention, happy?
sunshine can make you feel all of the above
and so can you, babe.
the sun isn't the only one to thank for my glow as of recent-
you make me beam with happiness and always leave me wanting more.
when our bodies are intertwined whether we are being intimate or just cuddling, all of those feelings i brought up above just crash over me.

i love basking in the sun as much as I love the heat that flushes over my entire body whenever we are lying next to each other
but I can't help hating both at the same exact time....

one too many times i have been burned by the sun (as i have been burned by previous "lovers") & i've just barely escaped being poisoned by the sun and them,
i can't help but worry that you might intoxicate me with your kisses and leave as though i have no more significance to you in your life than the ground below your feet that you walk over all day.
you see though, the problem with this is your absence will turn poisonous instantaneously and will have the same affect on me as sun poisoning.
my heart is fragile
and my body is sweltering
from the sun's heat & your body's heat
but i wish for both to prosper.

you seem to keep the stormy skies away-
please stay a while.
not really sure where this came from but I wanted to write a poem about the sun and how it relates to my happiness. I'm clearly a hopeless romantic and feel deeply with each new "fling" or "lover" if you will that I encounter, however I was trying to make the point that love and the sun can be so powerful and beautiful, yet can leave you burned.

The sun beats,
splits your skin.
Underneath
you’re heated till ductile;
you yield to the day.

The day is bloodhot.
A fish in a fist; you feel it
like a clot
in summer’s vein.
It drums the city dry.

You stay
in sungripped rooms
too small to compete.
Too soft with sweat,
you splinter and dash.

You happily waste the day.
Now nothing
has the energy
to raise itself
far off the ground.

You approached me like a good boy.
I wondered if you had the same wet ***** thoughts I had about you, especially with that body of yours.
Do you want to feel me.
My body is pure, but my mind is definitely not.
I smirked at you, and you grinned at me.
But it was no innocent grin.
You asked for a dance.
I wanted to rub my body on you, but I didn’t since you pulled me closer.
You whispered seductively in my ear:
I know you know about me stalking you, mi amor.
I remember then, I suddenly grabbed your face and stared at those lips as you did mine.
I took the first move, the lead, and I smashed my lips upon yours.

The kiss first started off heated, but then turned into one of urgency.
before she left him
8. The Knowing
The Heat, and not the sports team
Has come here for a while
It's enough to set some records
And to **** the farmers smiles

Humidity and high temperatures
Add to make our life like hell
It's drying up our creeks and streams
There's no water in our wells

We do not use our ovens
To cook our meals, not now at least
We just leave meat on the counter
The outside heat will cook the beast

Our lawns are brown and dormant
But the weeds are growing strong
There is chickweed and crabgrass where once
Green grass did once belong

The splash pads are on overtime
To help keep people cool
We've cooling centers everywhere
They're in all of the schools

In order to cool down at home
I have my a/c set to freeze
And if at times this doesn't work
I watch Christmas DVD's

Remember hats and sunscreen
to keep the heat off of your head
In fact it is so god ****** hot
I tan while I'm in bed

I remember as a child
Summer never got as hot as this
Compared to recent temperatures
Is like a ******* to a kiss

We pray for heat in winter
And in the summer, the reverse
I know I would like the snow
The heat is much, much, worse

Instead of just complaining
I should just take it, brave the heat
But for now, I'll watch my movies
Sing my carols, cool my feet

I know that come this winter
I'll be crying for the heat
Just remind me of this little poem
And I'll shut up, and take my seat.
We are experiencing record temps here in London right now, with humidex readings of betwen 48 and  50 Celsius today. For those using the Fahrenheit scale, that's between about 118 and 122 degrees in some places.
